I'm happy to race on Saturday if you need someone else. My computer has been a bit flakey as of late, though. So there's a good chance my footage will be corrupted/lost.

Yeah, I'm not quite ready yet. Sorry, haven't had a free evening to iron out bugs and do a test recording.
Don't ya'll wait on me, though. |

Oh, wait. What would you guys use to record your screen? I don't have the software I used to record the first race a year ago anymore.

I use Hypercam 2 to record at 25 fps (anything above and I start seeing issues).
Umby, jpfriction, I would recommend recording an hour of test NES to see if you have an issues (especially in jpfriction's case). The actual race will be 40-60 minutes depending on talking time between heats. |

I use Fraps to record my screen, and it has never ever caused me any issues. I've tried lots of screen capturing software, and fraps is really the only one that is both consistent and high-quality. It even records sound, too!
Ill do a test recording tonight to make sure my setup still works. Been a while since I've done this. |

I was trying to clarify timezones with Umby, but I think we can try to aim for 3pm Mountain / 5pm Eastern.
Still leaves at least one free slot. |

Cool, I'll be ready.

Still room for one more.
Also, the video for the first heat is ready and will be viewable tomorrow. |

Things are looking okay on my end, tweaked some settings and updated my bios.
How are we talking to each other? Skype or do you prefer something else these days? |

Plague Knight down, caught on camera using Fraps! I had to pay for it, but definitely worth it if I use it for other recordings, which I may do during the summer.

I'm on Skype as red_silvers, I am invisible at the moment but you can message me.

Fraps is really really useful, but it doesn't grab a lot of emulators unfortunately.

Notably, FCEUX can only be grabbed in fullscreen. |

I did not know that about fullscreen, I always use windowed. That is very useful. Thanks! ^_^

Nice work, Red.
Rad Racer sucks. |

You ain't kidding. Those indestructible Volkswagen Beetles were the bane of my existence.

#2239

Clearly, instead of giving away a Geo Metro, they should have given away Volkswagens to the winners.

That race turned out great. Of course, now, I see all these cool strategies I could have used, like trying to get longer in Mario versus getting lucky in Tetris...
Also, Rad Racer supposedly has a turbo button we never used. |

This tetris version doesn't play right with my gamepad (you'll probably be able to tell when the next video gets uploaded). Holding down only makes the blocks drop faster for a half a second or so and then they slow again. If I boot up the NES tetris rom, it seems to work fine. Very strange. |

That's a feature, not a bug. Sometimes you just want to get something in position fast then slow down to finesse it in sideways.
I could have sworn there was a separate "drop faster so long as I hold this" button and a "dead drop" button, like select, or maybe up, but it might have just gone by giving extra points the longer you had down held for before the piece was in place. |

Narcodis, I have not have a chance to get a torrent set up yet. Hectic couple of days.

All good man. It is just a program you gotta download, not much to it.

#2245
|

That was fun, all, thanks for having me! I hope we can have another race like that soon, although I'll undoubtedly be last place every time.

I think that the two Campus Challenge games (91 is NES and 92 is SNES) or Powerfest '94 would be fun as well... but finding a way to actually play them has eluded me.

Bumping this because Brickroad and McClain have given me the idea of Let's Racing Time: Zelda Randomizer Bingo.
And it sounds too awesome. |
#2248

I could be interested in that. Just need to set up recording on this new PC.

This idea intrigues me greatly.
