Well fucking shit dammit.

First of all, it took me two and a half hours to get to wart and then I got a game over and decided to call it a night. I think a lot of that was shaking off rust, and I did pause a couple of time to do stuff like let the dog out.

But more importantly, despite my previous testing, this time I got mad desync. All my settings are the same, and I'm PRETTY sure the problem was caused by my forgetting to turn off my power saving settings, so the monitor shut down every half hour and that might have messed up the recording sync. I'll have to test it in the morning.

So I'll do something to test is again in the morning. But, damn, I forgot how to play SMB2! I did OK most of the time, but World 4 and World 6 were just major roadblocks for me. Hopefully my practicing/testing tonight will make it not so painful tomorrow, assuming I can even race now with my recording issues.

Training for races can be pretty discouraging, because you remember being so good at a game, and a decade of no practice can really deteriorate your skill. I felt the effects of this first hand this week when I got a game over in the first stage of Contra.

It comes back, though, and it feels good when it does.

Speaking of being terrible at games, Red fumbling with the blocks in Magnet Man's level has to be seen to be believed. If the definition of insanity has to do with expecting different results upon trying the same thing, then he must be one of the most insane people I've ever known.

I also think I past my prime about an hour in and should have just gone to bed.

Okay, now we have to race Rescue: The Embassy Mission someday. That game is super fly.

Just discovered the YouTube channel and it is fun and this looks like fun and I want to have fun.

Also Red, that was an impressive pull through to the win in the pentathlon.

Yeah, I still haven't solved my desnyc either. I'll screw with it some more when I get up. My skype is just my first and last name, hit me up in the morning.

For what it's worth I've never finished Mario 2 before, at least the NES version (I've finished it on all stars). Worlds 5, 6 and 7-1 were way easier than 1-4, only took one continue, but 7-2 is really hard.

McClain, do you have VirtualDub? You might be able to solve the desync there?

Ok so if we do SMB2 this afternoon do we have a video-combiner?

Also, what would the official start time be? I need to run a few errands right after lunch, I can probably be back by 1pm EST but that might be pushing it, 1:30pm might be a better bet for me.

With mm3 in the can, I don't mind doing it.

Also, as it turns out if you guys still need or want a fourth (or fifth, or sixth) chair, I should be back home by 1pm eastern.

Having dinner at my parents house, so I'm probably not back until later in the evening(1pm est equals 7pm cet), so I probably won't join. Seems like you have enough racers though.

I'm on skype as McClain142. I'm going to go run an errand in a bit but I should be logged on so you can add me and message me.

I'm testing my desync problem now. I want to try to record enough to hopefully know that it was my power-save turning off my monitor that caused it and not something else.

Okay, I've got my sync problems worked out, and I'm trying to help Destil get his fixed. I don't need to start right now or anything, but I have to leave by 6 p.m. Eastern no matter what.

Whoever is racing hit me on skype when you are ready, I've got a chat started.

Good race, guys! That was fun. I look forward to doing some more.

For now Sunday's are pretty open for me if anyone else wants to do it again at that time.

That time slot is pretty good for me. I still need to get in on a Mega Man 2 race (or anything I'm not bad at, which apparently does not include Mario games).

I won't be able to do the SMB2 race since my video is still rendering out. I can do the editing though, so it's really up to you guys if you want me or Torgo on that. ^_^

Actually that time slot works neatly for me because it's just after I get home from my overnight shift. So typically, yes, I could definitely be around more for Sunday morning/afternoon racing times.

Look at these heathens, racing vidjagames when they should be at church. How will any of you ever meet a nice girl?

Serious question for Narish and Red: why don't you guys use your master weapons? I'm watching you guys bang your heads against these Doc Robot levels with the arm cannon and it's driving me crazy. Springy guys that shoot homing missiles which come in high? Arm cannon. Giant met with a weak spot near the top of the screen? Arm cannon. Giant stomper guy that can be frozen in mid-air? Arm cannon. Argh!

I need to figure out my NES emulator flicker so I can try a MM2 race. I know I'll lose but it'll still be fun.

Technically we would have been starting right after church if we cared about such things.

I have no idea, right about the time I hit the brick-wall in Shadow Man Redux I realize I should have done things differently. XD I've always used the Arm Cannon more than anything else in most Mega Man games I've played. Just used to it I guess. (That and I totally don't remember what works on what lol)

EDIT: Right so I originally posted this with just the quote and nothing of my own text. XD

I just finished watching both of them. I can't believe people in both of the races made the same mistake in Legend of Zelda. I thought Dadaph was going to make the same mistake and I was yelling at him over the Internet to make sure he didn't.

The main one was forgetting that some mobs stay dead. I think for both races the winner went and got the sword and medicine and brute forced the level from there without reloading the state.

Got my recording stuff all set up and I think I'm ready to go! Best times for me are Tuesday days and evenings and Wednesday evenings.

I know, that sucks. But I work nights and weekends and afternoons I spend with the family.

What's your timezone Loki? Tuesday nights are typically a pretty good time for me, but the earliest I'd be available is 7pm PST.
