I don't know, I'll take my chances getting off my thee LITS against some groups.
EDIT: Huh, now that I think about it, I did it wrong (buying HEALS instead of TENTS), and you're right. Just tent up every now and then and scum save your way to it is optimal. |

I also forgot that tents save (right?).

And also heal more than a potion.
EDIT: Red just realized that he didn't have gear equipped. HAH! EDIT: And McClain got PACE as soon as he realized P was on the menu. Damn you! |

Hey, B. Road.
Where's that special video we recorded on Friday? |

Slight further delay with the Mario Races, into possible indefinite delay. Last week I lost my new hard drive, but I still had the backup, and yesterday while rendering Cave Story the backup drive crashed. Which means if my data recovery fails that I lost not only the race footage, but all of my YouTube and Website stuff as well.
I am in the middle of data recovery operations right now, the good news is that the backup drive isn't damaged, it still spins up and isn't making any noises, but windows can't see the format or partition, and it takes forever to do any kind of read with the drive. My preliminary scan indicated that the file system on the drive is intact, and the files I need are still there. Hopefully I can get them offloaded to the new drive I just bought. Best Case Scenario - I pull off all the files and render the stuff and things come out when the rendering is finished. Worst Case Scenario - All of the race footage is lost and I have to recreate all of my youtube content (design and whatnot) from scratch. |

Do all the individual racers still have their footage? Maybe at this point just let someone else do it if you're dead in the water?

I'm not sure, but my footage is in limbo with this drive, and I'll know in 7 more hours whether or not I can get anything off of it.

Ouchie.
Let's hope for the best. Still got my raw footage, but that doesn't do anything good unless everyone else got theirs as well. |

I'm really hoping, I am going to lose a lot more than a few races if this drive is toast. I have a video coming up on my channel in a few moments kinda explaining things too.

We should have another race soon! I want to do one.

I just caught up on the pentathalon races and I didn't know that Punch-Out wasn't required playing for people with NESes. I was shocked that that was the hard challenge. Especially the specific challenge, as when I was a kid I thought that was the only way to knock out Bald Bull.

Good News Everyone! I think I've developed a plague that will destroy all life on Azeroth! --- er... I mean I recovered all of the video footage for the All-Stars and Mario World races! Still looking for the project files tho...

Good to hear, Nari! Hope you can still recover the rest of your resources and files.
Suggest it up. We're kind of in a lull right now it seems. Because of summer perhaps? Or maybe this fun little jaunt has run its course? Last week I suggested a Lost Levels (Spite) Race on Brick's stream last week. Anyone care to beat their heads against something stupidly hard for an hour or two? (For the record, I'd probably cap the time at an hour and a half or something.) Alternatively, if people want to play something good (pssht), we could do... I dunno, a Kirby game or something. Kirby's Adventure or a chunk or Super Star would be good times I think. |

I'd do Kirby's Adventure, it's just that I'm not sure how to speedrun such a game, I'd feel it'd be faster to just float through the level than anything else.

I'd still be interested in Disney Afternoon: Heat II

The project files for the Super Mario races are toast, those sectors of the Hard Drive are completely corrupt. I've also lost several of my LP archives and the Let's Racing Time backups. However most everything else seems to be intact at least mostly. I am going to burn the midnight oil on this one to try and get things back proper before August 1st.

It's much faster to dash or even walk than float in Kirby's Adventure, though of course it's safer to float and there are times when you need to. There's actually some extra skill involved in speedrunning it in that the platforming gets tougher if you're really trying to go fast.

The first Kirby's Dreamland would probably be a quick race.

#1639

I was thinking more along the lines of Kirby's Adventure, but that'd be much longer.

I watched a speedrun of Kerby's Adventure: Dash to the hidden UFO, UFO dash through the rest of the game.
So you're not entirely wrong. I'll do Dreamland in a hearbeat, but that goes for anything on the original Game Boy (Final Fantasy Legend 2 race go!) |

My schedule is pretty shit right now, but I might be interested in Disney afternoon. Though I haven't even played two of the games, and it's been years on the other two, so it'll probably be sloppy! EDIT: Actually, what were the games again?
Right now I'm available Thursday, Friday, and Sunday afternoon before my wife gets off work and we do dinner, and pretty late at night on most weeknights and Sundays after she goes to bed. |

Darkwing Duck, Little Mermaid, Duck Tales, and Rescue Rangers.

I'll give them a try in the next couple of days and see if I think I can race them.

Ironically I've never played Darkwing Duck.
I would have to practice for a race too! |

For bonus style points, and to differentiate this race from the last one a little bit, race this hack of Darkwing Duck.
As far as I know it doesn't change anything about the main game, but it adds a bonus stage that you access by beating the game normally, with a boss battle against Negaduck (who was criminally neglected in the original game). If you don't race DW last, everyone can drop a save-state at the game's ending and then come back to it once they beat the other games for bonus points. |

Sweet! I've figured out that I can stream on twitch and record hypercam at the same time without killing either one. Now if I can also get on a skype call without my computer freaking out (which it really shouldn't), then I should be able to stream my screen and all of the audio from the next race I participate in. Could be fun to have a chat room heckling us live!
It was actually really easy to set up using XSPLIT (the first recommended broadcaster on twitch) if anyone else wants to try. I think there's also a way to set up a single account that could link multiple players at the same time, but I haven't really looked into that yet. |

Okay guys, I tried to play Darkwing Duck. I really, really tired to like it. But I kind of hate it. No way I can do a race with that in it, sorry. But hey, at least I found that out before the race! Maybe next time.

No worries. I have yet to fool around with it, so who knows?
Other races: I know Narcodis wanted to race Blaster Master. |

I think I'm probably only good for Marios and maybe Mega Man. There's not a whole lot of games I can complete in a single sitting. Pentathlons are cool since it's just a challenge most people can get eventually, so I think I'm always down for that. I'll keep my eyes open for a race I'm good for. But this one ain't it |
