...I just tried to picture playing AoL in one sitting.
I think I'm horrified now. |

I have done that several times, though I'm not really that good(usually get 2-3 game overs). It does take 1-2 hours at least, so one would need a lot of time.

It's not that bad lol. I could do it. Once you find your way to the hammer It's all downhill until the great palace.

I'm gonna go cry now.

I dunno, AoL might be do-able if everyone starts with a completed file. Starting over with max stats will make the early game breeze by, but it won't make the endgame much easier.

Damn, I missed the MM2 race? I would've been seriously down with that.
Oh well. Either way, Zelda 1 sounds like fun to me. As well as Mario 3 (If it's been suggested). |

No reason games can't be raced more than once.

Need a fourth for Bionic Commando on Friday. Preferably someone who doesn't mind practicing between now and then. =)

I'll be up for it. I'm off that day and I intend to be done cobbling together Mega Man 2 by then.
(Work is moving along in that regard. Now that I'm actually doing it it's actually pretty fun. The video itself is pretty much done and all that remains is the bells and whistles like adding in the counter, a proper background, and music.) |

So do we have a time chosen for that? My biggest worry is that I won't be able to talk during the race because my son is sick and he is sleeping really poorly this week. Little guy wakes up at the drop of a hat. =/

Also we might have five for the race. Sovan (who has never played Bionic Commando before in his life) shoved his stupid butt in once he heard what we were doing, and by golly, I just can't say no to Sovan. So it'll be you, me, Sovan, Torgo, and my friend Dan (kefkafloyd). I tried to get Kishi, but he's busy this week, so we'll get him back some other time for a Contra race. |

Me: "Hmm, a race for a game I never played? Maybe I need to stay out."
Sovan: "Hmm, a race for a game I never played? This'll be HILARIOUS, I'm in!" At least we know with Sovan the commentary will be hilarious. |

Man, BC is not a game to race blind. Hope you like 12 hour videos.
There was talk of a second Mega Man 2 run, possibly? I'm totally down, but first I need to do a longish test recording to make sure I've got everything sorted out. And for that I need a day or two to recover from being sick so I can talk for three hours about video games. |

I think the Disney Afternoon race might be as long as it'll ever get... hopefully anyway. |

I'll unfortunately have to sit out of anything that happens this week. =( Next week I should be able to help out though! ^_^

Well I've managed to clear 9-10 PM EST off baby duty, so let's do it then. Maybe we should get everyone into the Skype channel at 8:45 so we can start on time?

Sovan did the sensible thing and backed out. Torgo, you'll have to talk in a British accent to make up for it.

So my son has gone from kinda sick to definitely sick and now I have no idea if I will be able to play tonight. I'll try to be there, even if I arrive late or have to skip out for a bit in the middle. My Skype name is the same as my forum handle, so worst case scenario send me a contact invite and I'll see if I can join you while you're still playing (assuming I'm not around at 8:45 for the start).

Any last minute takers for Mike's spot, in case he has to drop out early?

And Torgo, what's your Skype name?
|

torgohiggins. I should come up under my real name.

Baby woke up long enough for us to give him some medicine for his fever and dress him in his PJs. Right now he's asleep, which may last for hours or minutes. I figure I'll start with y'all, and maybe have to pause for a bit to take care of him. If I make it back in time to continue the race, then that could be kind of funny, otherwise you can just replace me with the laughing dog or what have you.
I don't have anybody's Skype usernames, so please send me an invite or something. |

I've been trying to figure it out, but I can't for the life me understand when I go to reencode my videos they turn out so friggin' BIG.
Like, my video and audio separate for bionic commando total about 2.7gb. But when I cut them together with virtualdubmod I get a video that's like 8gb. Bear in mind that I'm also cutting the resolution in half. I'm using the same codec I used to record the footage live. I'm going to keep fiddling, but there's no way this could be right. This would also help with MM2 incidentally, as my tentative final video clocks in at a brutal 37.7gb. Again, for a video that's only 854x480... that don't seem right. |

|
|||
|
|||
What codec are you encoding with? I usually use Xvid, and that results in reasonable filesizes.
|
#510
|
|||
|
|||
Lagarith. That's what I record with, so I would figure even with the audio it would result in proportionally similar file sizes when encoding to a smaller resolution.
Let me give Xvid a whirl and see what happens. |
