10:30 is a bit on the late side for me, in a perfect world I'd like to start at 9:30 or 10 PM. But it also kind of depends on how long the pentathlon takes to run, if it's less than an hour then I don't mind starting at 10:30. I'd just like to be in bed by midnight, since my son wakes up pretty early and doesn't seem to care if I stayed up late playing Nintendo games the night before.

The first round took about 2 hours to run. That might have just been the people there and being familiar with the games though. I'd bank on 2 hours as a safe time though.

Yeah, I expect the pentathlon to take about two hours, although the winner finished in more like 90 minutes.
Jikku: I might have to dump your audio track, since it picked up all the racers' voices. If they were clear I would just dump the others and use yours, but they sound distant and distorted. I'd like to say I could just isolate your voice from the others, but I don't think I can. It might be helpful in syncing Dadaph's audio, though, so there's that! |

I'm working Thursday and probably won't be home until 11:30 or later, so unless there's another real late run I'm probably not gonna be able to participate. Oh well, looking forward to the videos at any rate.

In fact, has everyone spelled out what times they generally are or are not available? It might be nice to have a list like that on hand for arranging these in the future. For me the times I'm usually able to do something like this: Evenings: Sunday- Thursday: 5pm EST at the earliest, until 9pm EST, mmmmaybe 10pm EST at most if things run a little late. Friday and Saturday: Starting at 5pm EST, and I can pretty much go until whenever, though I'm not a late-night person and am bound to get drowsy if it goes too late since I'm so used to getting up at the crack of dawn. Plus Saturday and Sunday afternoons, or mornings even. They're days I'm off, afterall, though I may have errands to run. |

Destil, thanks for your offer, I'll keep tomorrow night open and hope that we can find at least one other person. But if no one else is free for tomorrow night, then I'm usually free on Thursday/Friday/Saturday nights from 9 PM EST to midnight (the limiting factor on which days I'm free is usually whether my son is sick or not, which is like 1 day out of 2). I really don't like to go past midnight most of the time, though I probably could if we raced this Saturday (or most Fridays).

Ok, didn't really have audio issues(besides my mic being bad and my accent being weird)...
I had some major desync issues. Hypercam, which I used to record, somehow made the video go faster than my audio. By the time I got to the third challenge, I had a desync of 1 minute and 40 seconds. However, it seems like only the two first challenges desynced my video. So I did some re-editing on my part, pretty much pausing the video for 1 minute between challenge 1 and 2, and for 40 seconds between challenge 2 and 3. Seemed to work, just crossing my fingers my actual audio is up to sync. Sending my new video over to Brickroad and hoping he won't have to do too much re-editing for my part. I screwed up this time, and got to iron out my recording issues(and buy a new mic) by the next time I participate. I should also practice my English by other means than watching Tommy Wiseau movies. I had great time racing though. Would love to try again some time. |

Dadaph, this is one of my test recordings with Hypercam. I set it to record at 60fps and it told me that it would play back at 60fps. NES Batman: "I'm the goddamn Belmont!" Hypercam Batman:"It's-a-me Batmario!" |

I set my Hypercam at 30fps, and only the first two games we played seemed to desync the recording. Pretty weird. I found one fix that might help me for future recordings, but I need to do a lot of tests before next race I'm in. |

I had a weird frame-skipping problem with my video, the files played great in WMP and VideoLAN but it skips back about a second, every 10 seconds or so, when I import it into Premiere Pro. I'm still looking for a work-around for this. =/

A friend of mine is an audio guy, so he showed me a trick or two to make sound quality better in Audacity. Guess thats what saved that recording. The (muted) voice recording in Hypercam was pretty awful. Will see if I can do anything about Skype, it's actually the first time I've used it to talk. |

I think we've just kinda had to learn that Skype is messy with multiple folks talking, since it does weird auto-volume adjusting.

I'd join, but given that it's finals week and I have two papers due this weekend, my conscience dictates that it's probably better not to.

But no seriously, we need two more dudes for tomorrow night 9pm EST, or the video will just be me and Destil and Mike crying about how nobody loves us. |

Watching my test video now, no audio desync, encoded on youtube fine. Think I'm good to go!
God I'm bad at Zelda and Mario 3, this is going to be terrible! |
