Yeah, I added as many channel names as I knew when I updated things, but there are still a few racers in some of those races that may have channels but currently have no links.

I added McClain and Dadaph's channels.

EDIT: Found Mike, my first search didn't work but my second did. SPACES.

So I guess two people can be logged into the same account from different places at the same time, because didn't Brickroad say he was uploading Pentathlon 2 - Heat 1 right now? XD

Ok, I need to catch up on forum memes, but at least I know the frothing demand bird and the Clash at Demon Head characters now. I could work them in somehow, at least when I get the other stuff in place.
Starting to draw tomorrow. Will do the characters one at a time then paste everything together in Photoshop later on. Can share some progress in this thread, for input and suggestions, I'm always open for that.

And woah, those Pentathlon 2 challenges would have been the end of me.

And now everyone can see me admit I've never played Punch-Out before this year, and fail at it for 40 minutes straight.

But goddamn it felt triumphant when I finally succeeded.

Probably better to hold off, then send a private message later. If you post it people will watch it beforehand. XD

Trust me, no one wants to watch me be bad at tetris while hearing 1/5 of a conversation that's mostly just me cussing. My footage is worthless by itself except to the person compiling.

Though I can PM it, I'm just not sure who's compiling this one. Is it Brick?

So did Destil not have anything usable, not even audio? I think even if the video gets totally fucked up it would be nice to at least hear his conversation. I would highly recommend doing a track on Audacity while you record for that reason. I have a backup of my audio so even if my video is completely worthless you could use it.

Edit: RE: Punchout continues: I believe the way it works if you get a rematch, then ranked down, then retire. If you win I think I resets that, but then you can still retire if you lose too many times in that cycle (it may be three losses total for the game to retire, even if you win a rematch).

The funny thing is, you can just barely hear Destil at times, which I'm guessing is his voice being picked up by someone else's mic. If we could figure out whose track that was, maybe I could see if bumping his volume up would be possible. It would take a while, but it might be worth it. The video is surprisingly watchable as it is, though, which I wasn't expecting.

Also, the idea of saving your audio separately in case of accident is a good one, might be worth doing for future races.

That would be my track. You can always hear ghosts of other people through my track, which is a side effect of having to use a 10 decibel mic boost, which I have to use because my soundcard is stupid and otherwise you wouldn't be able to hear my voice in LPs even if I recorded the game audio at 2% volume.

I could correct this before the race to remove the ghosts, but I like to leave them in because it helps to fix audio desync issues that crop up with the other racers. Hearing a bit of echoing from time to time in the finished video is the price I pay for not having to go through everything with a fine-toothed comb, thereby saving my sanity. =)

Well, if you want to send me just your audio track, maybe I could see how hard it would be to boost Destil's voice. Even if we can't see him playing, it would add something to have his commentary.

Had another idea for a multi-NES-game race, I'm going to mull it over for a while, but I may crowd-source a few of the challenges eventually. Hmm.

I've been playing around with the idea of NES challenge race themed around one game series (Mega Man in this case).

Sorry, I thought I mentioned I had already tried that, but I guess I didn't. Yes, this is something I already considered, but proved impossible using existing tools. Another feature on my audio tracks is that lovely static-y noise (a combination of my A/C and my computer fan); boosting Destil's voice on my track would also increase the buzzing.

Usually I can use noise reduction to remove the static, but in this video that also removed Destil entirely (well, not entirely, just... mostly). Basically I had several bad options and no really good ones.

It's worth mentioning that I don't have any high-end audio editing software. I'm basically limited to Audacity and Camtasia. If you have beefier equipment than I do you might have more luck.

Okay, done a few character sketches now, and will do another sheet after this one:

Hopefully, I'll get to ink them on Tuesday or so, and then it's just a matter of scanning, coloring, and putting together something in Photoshop, which shouldn't take more than a couple of hours.

I'll grant that request. Just need to do some minor research on the character.

I actually know that somehow(no idea why).
But we're just too used to those robots over here, and a sprite only 16 pixels tall isn't much to draw a character from, considering he do have some official artwork.

I'll add Sonic as well. Know we haven't had a Sonic race yet, but I feel bad for leaving the one guy, whose entire character trait is running, out of this. I'll have him hang from Tails, for shits'n giggles.

Then I'll add at least one of the characters from Clash at Demon Head, as they seem to be popular. Can be tough to do as I've never played that game at all, but I'll do my best...

Yeah, uh, I guess that was what I was thinking, too. If you want some challenge ideas, let me know (I had only decided on two of them so far).

Hmm, sounds like you've already tried most of the stuff that I would try. Oh well!

Here's another crazy idea: how hard would it be to add closed captions with Destil's commentary? I could listen to your recording and write down what he says. Yes I know that would be kind of stupid.

I just honestly never played it much. When I was a kid I bought one of those Tetris-less Game Boys, and picked up Wario Land with it instead.

If only had I known that decision would come back to bite me in the butt on a video for the whole internet to see. If only.

Could be worse. I failed at Tetris on a stage in front of hundreds of people who could see me! Their stares of disappointment haunt me to this very day.
