Hey, guys, could I possibly convert this AVI to an MP4?

Final video encoding now. Gonna let it do its thing overnight. Barring any freak error or a power surge, I should be able to upload it tomorrow morning.

The SMB3 Race is rendering, but my PC is showing 35 hours left on that render. XD

Guys, the whole "race to see which race comes up first" comment was a joke!
...this is gonna be a busy weekend. |

There are no jokes! Do we look like a bunch of people that have a sense of humor? o.O
Also, like always I am betting on Brickroad for a come-from-behind victory. (Seriously, if Pentathlon 2 beats both MM3 and SMB3 I'll eat a Birdo Egg XD) |

Had a blast playing Contra last night.
And for once, my video came out fine, with no technical issues I can find. I'll get it up quickly, so Brick can win the processing race. |

Still looking to see if anyone wants to do a lazy Sunday afternoon kind of race. Like to start between 1-3 Eastern. Any SMB2 fans available?

Personally I was just dead set on finishing it by the end of the week as originally planned.

One thing is for certain, we are about to have a lot of awesome hit the racing channel! (and a lot of fail XD)

I'd be down for this, McClain.

Tentatively sign me up, I SHOULD be free tomorrow afternoon.

Sweet! Now I just need to relearn SMB2, hahaha. It's probably only been 10 years since I last played it.
Destil, can you output this, or do I need to beg Brick or someone to put it together? |

I know nothing about video editing, but I could always learn (would be useful to have more people who can do it, and it's not like I don't have a high-end PC).

Shadow Warrior Luke mentioned to me that he'd be interested in racing SMB2.
I've been trying to get him to join TT. |

We for sure could use a fourth and maybe a backup if Spoony can't make it. |

I'll tentatively join as well. It depends on how far along the rendering is for the SMB3 Race! I can also do the editing for it if you guys don't mind my slightly longer production time (this one will be faster than SMB3 though, because now I already have everything set up).

I would love to race Mega Man X.

We totally should.
As for SMB2, 1-3pm EST is not in my time frame, sadly. It looks like you guys got quite it covered though. |

Oh, god. Mario 2 has no reliable source of extra lives and limited continues...
I played nearly 3 hours to get to 4-3. EDIT: Also got a bit of audio desync now that I'm recording 30FPS. Testing a fix for thta now. Last edited by Destil; 05-18-2013 at 08:03 PM. |

Race the Mario All-Stars version. It saves at each world.
|
#952
|
|||
|
|||
Yeah, I was considering doing the All-Stars version for that reason.
I always just used toad in the first couple levels to collect all the coins and then would be pretty set on lives for a while. I really need to do a practice run tonight, though, so I can make sure that I remember what character to use on what stage. I basically just use Luigi for jumping and toad for speed, depending on the level. Mario and Peach can suck it. |

2-3 and 3-1 are both reliable sources to farm up coins for the slot game. That's no guarantee of lives of course, and man what a time kill, but hey.

|
|||
Yeah, it should be fun!
Though in the interests of player sanity I'd recommend allowing warping upon getting a game over to the nearest world you died on. (but not over) World 1-3 -> World 4 World 3-1 -> World 5 World 4-2 -> World 6 World 5-3 -> World 7 I think those are all the warps? (or we could do All-Stars, babbys) Anyway, I decided to try combining videos myself and got Avisynth and Virtualdubmod and that script Rai posted way back when and I cannot get it to work. Virtualdubmod gives me a parse error when I try to load it. It loads fine in meGUI, (and by default it looks kinda gross but this is a learning experience here). I, uh, I probably can't volunteer to combine videos until I figure all this crap out. |
#955
|
|||
|
|||
Yeah, I made notes on what character to use in each level and where to get coins, but it's still a slot machine.
I'll try another practice run tonight and see if I do any better, mostly just adjusting to the physics. |
#956
|
|||
|
|||
Well hopefully it won't turn into a four-hour debacle tomorrow because I got shit to do in the evening

"Luigi."
Or, I suppose, if you're really trying to speed run, Toad. |
#958
|
|||
|
|||
Arg, still haven't solved my audio desync issues, now that I've done another long test. Think I may sit this out unless I solve that tonight.
Edit: Heh. World 1 and 2 it varies by stage Luigi/Toad. World 4 is all Princess (because why bother with ice physics), worlds 5-7 are Luigi. I got to 7 in about an hour that time but 7-2 is pretty rough if you don't come into it with half a dozen lives. |
#959

Speed run or not, Toad is the only real answer for every stage except for maybe 3-1 and 5-1. What you gain in speed and mobility is worth what's lost in jump height. Honestly, I can't even play the game with any one else any more. His physics are so ingrained into my muscle memory that trying to play it with anyone else only ends in tears.

Same, though I've never done any recording on my computer and don't know what program to use. After seeing the Hypercam problems people seemed to be having I'm a little wary using it.
