Here's an idea that goes along with the Disney theme. Would it be possible to do a 2-man team race of Goof Troop? Would need to figure out netplay with an emulator and such, but could be cool. Have two teams of two people racing each other.
I dunno. Not sure when I'll have time to do this again, but man if that wouldn't be entertaining to watch. |

Now that is an interesting idea. I've had some success with making a NES emulator work via netplay, but a team race. I don't think that's been done before. There are lots of games that could fit something like that, like Double Dragon or Turtles in Time.

By the way Brickroad I liked the little game counters on the left of the video.

Emulator netplay is a fucking nightmare. Sovan and I have spent hours and hours on the subject, and the only thing we can get to work is SNES netplay with a very specific version of ZSNES, via use of a program called LogMeIn Hamachi.
Even then it's spotty. Sometimes we connect right away and are fine, sometimes the input lag favors whomever is hosting the game, sometimes it flat out doesn't work. You used to be able to get almost flawless NES netplay through an emulator called NESticle, but that was years ago, and to my knowledge there's no version that works on modern OSes. My first vote for a co-op race, providing someone can work out the deets, would be River City Ransom. |

I was able to get a rather spotty connection once using Jnes 1.1 and the Kaillera service. However it required setting up both emulators and romsets exactly the same way on both computers with all the same settings, and connecting to a 3rd party server. I ended up setting everything perfect on my end, then packaging that up into a self-installing .exe file and sending it to my friend and having him install that. We kept having server disconnection issues though. Perhaps with a dedicated server that might be more stable?
It also may have been just a complete fluke that we got it working at all lol. Last edited by Narishm; 03-26-2013 at 02:14 AM. Reason: Grammar |

EDIT: OH WAIT I'm bad at dates, I thought you meant in like 2 or 3 days. Yeah, I think either one of those could work for me starting at 9 PM (and ideally finishing by midnight, but it sounds like this race won't take very long). DOUBLE DOG EDIT: Just finished up a practice run, which took me 50 minutes. That could have been 40 if I hadn't completely botched sector 11, but I don't think I can hope for much better than that. So there's no way I'm gonna win this race, but at least I shouldn't embarrass myself too much. Unless the sector 11 thing happens again. Last edited by MCBanjoMike; 03-26-2013 at 09:33 PM. |

I just a wonderful, terrible idea.
In the spirit of the "Let's Beat Every Castlevania thread"... Castlevania 1 |

Oh, that would be wonderfully horrible. I saw a race of that a while back, I can't remember who was in it though. XD

Do you really want to watch four people spend several hours losing to Frankenst Igor?

At least the musical accompaniment would be good.
Sorry for the delay on MM2 guys. This past weekend ended up being a wash for doing anything, and I'll just come clean and confess to a bit of laziness on my part; Switching back to day shift had put me in a bit of a funk the last couple weeks, but I think I'm on the other side of it. I'm downloading Umby's footage as I type this, and I'm gonna start beating my head against avisynth again this evening. |

If you need another, I guess I could man up and give it a try, but I need to figure out all the technical bits with recording yet(I have Camstudio and tons of room on my harddrive, but haven't figured out codecs).
Also English isn't my first language, so I might sound pretty bad... if another guy comes along instead, pass me up. oh, I figured out recording with camstudio, but guess I'm too late Last edited by Dadaph; 03-29-2013 at 10:15 PM. Reason: recording |

I think the lesson is that spur of the moment races just don't always work out.

I am extremely tempted to do this since I'm actually free tonight. But I suck at MMX since all I've got is my keyboard.
I've not been following the thread, but I've got Debut Video Capture and Audacity. EDIT: But then again, I also never pay attention to when posts are dated. Last edited by Isrieri; 03-30-2013 at 06:00 PM. Reason: :( |

I'm curious what games you'd be decent at on a keyboard? I had a really hard time playing on a keyboard for most non-RPGs.

Speaking for myself, but remember beating Adventure of Link on a keyboard. Funny thing is: that's the ONLY time I've been able to defeat Shadow Link without kneeling in the corner.
Any of the NES Zeldas could make interesting races, but maybe a bit long? If someone who doesn't know them would race, they might not even make it halfway. First Zelda isn't too bad on a keyboard anyway, if you know the game, that is I'm still open for racing anything if you need me. Depending on the game, I might suck, but I'm used to that. |

An Adventure of Link race! (Or any zelda game really) I would totally be down with that.
