Lets racing time

SMB3 race is done, and I see Bionic Commando race is live.

Fun times.

So... about this SMB3 race... see... I was drunk... and... blindfolded while being kidnapped by like... squirrels. BIG FLAMING ONES with eye lazerz, and my thumbs were in a chinese finger trap! Yeah... all of that. XD

Anyone want to give me some tips on doing this without having to mute game sound? Mostly worried about the block areas in Mega Man if it comes up, though I've played enough MM2 on my 3DS that I can generally get through heatman with the sound off so it may not be a big deal (but it would also be super useful to know in general).

Check the sound options for the recording software you're using. Most of the ones I'm familiar with let you select your source. If you select "microphone", that should be all that gets recorded. There might be a second checkbox somewhere for "record system audio". If so, make sure it's unchecked.

There's also the option of grabbing your mic separately using Audacity, and then splicing it together later, but that can introduce desyncing.

My work schedule hasn't changed, so I'll have late night this coming Thursday and Friday for a second Pentathlon team. (I'll have the regular evening time, too, but it looks like later is better for Destil and Spoony, yes?)

I might have to try this Pentathalon.

Every time I've tried record microphone it ends up recording everything. I'll have to do some more testing.
I could slip out of work early just by coming in early, but later is better, yeah (I'm 3 hours after you, after all).

What are you using to record? I'll see if I can play around with it on my end.

I haven't touched it since I was lost that Legends run, but I was using Hyper Cam in Win 8, gone through most of the options I found in both that, Audacity and Cam Studio trying to get something to work.

Don't worry about it yet, I'm going to screw around with Open Broadcast a bit tomorrow.

I have to double check my work schedule but if I'm available Thursday evening, I'm in.

(Unfortunately I think that's one of the few nights this week I work, but we'll see)

Well this past weekend might've been a wash for me thanks to a trolltastic stomach bug (why I disappeared late Friday evening) and my car troubles (Saturday) but dangit I want to be in another one of these and I happen to be at least respectable at Super Metroid, so sign me up again, assuming it's a friendly time for me.

Of course, up against Garrison I'll look like a right amateur. But who wouldn't?

See, if Garrison is in the race, the goal should be to keep him talking the entire time by asking questions and/or making him do math. Social Warfare! XD

If the stars align and you want to race at a time when I'm free AND my son isn't waking up every 15 minutes due to illness, then I'd be interested in participating in the second run of Brick's pentathlon. The one thing I have going for me is that Thursday and Friday nights are among the better times for me to do this kind of thing, in particular after 9 PM Eastern time.

By the way, what was the time spread on the first run of the race? Did it wind up taking more than 2 hours for anybody to finish?

I linked the URL to my Pentathlon stream to your skype, Brickroad. It has been processing for about 3 hours tho. XD

I'll have to bow out of Pentathon times if only because all things racing is a confirmed no go until Saturday at least, but it doesn't look like we're hurting for participation.

I'd love to wrangle a group for Super Mario Bros. 2 soon though. Maybe next week or the week after?

I am hesitant to throw my hat into another Mario race. XD

Destil and Mike: I am down for a late-night race either Thursday or Friday this week. I'd like to get Spoony too, if he's available. (And if his connection is sorted, heh.)

I usually just lock two dudes down and then grab whomever else is online, but I'm hesitant to rely on that strategy for something that might run into the wee hours of morning.

(I'm prioritizing Destil and Mike because Destil hasn't gotten to race yet and the pentathlon challenge was originally Mike's idea. I don't want anyone to feel like I'm leaving them out!)

I can do Thursday, but Friday through Sunday afternoon is basically going to be all magic, all the time.

Okay, let's plan on Thursday then. We're looking at, what, 11pm EST? Later?

I can go as low as 10:30ish without having to go in early, though I should take some time to make sure my rig is set up right.

I can't really do late night stuff on weeknights, but even if it were Friday or Saturday 11pm EST is too late for me anyway. I get up at 6am for work Monday to Friday (which is 5am EST), and even on my days off I'm too used to hitting the sack early that I'd have a rough time starting something like this at midnight.

Well, if we need a morning go of it and Brickroad is unavailable, I could host one. I've already been through the challenges and understand the setup and whatnot. I wouldn't be able to do it until this weekend though.
