As for the time, same as last time, it might be tight, but I'll try to make it. No worries if you guys have to run without me though.

Done and done. So yeah, if there's a free seat, I'd love to jump in for this. Finer details worked out via skype or IRC or what? I am me in everything.

Welp I'm available. Assuming my connection doesn't try to troll me again tonight anyway.

Yup. Hard drive has plenty of space, particularly for little original resolution NES bits, and I have a backup on audio.

Last night was fun times, glad I could participate in a race again and have my connection behave itself the entire time through.

There was some special gameplay on display last night, though, wow. Overall I really liked the challenges we had, but there was that one game that I spent way too long failing at. I need to get not-bad at that game, stat.

Glad you enjoyed it! Or, "enjoyed" it. I'd like to eventually do a second round, though I'm not sure when that can happen, so please keep the challenges to yourselves for now, or else spoiler your comments.

I'm just got to do the final round of edits on it then render it out. I've been slammed by RL issues a lot the past little bit so it's taking me longer than normal. No worries tho! ^_^

I hate to say it, Destil, but I don't think the little video you were able to salvage is usable. I'm going to just chalk this one up to learning experience and give you a blank corner for this race.

I might start experimenting with recording the Skype call. There are a lot of problems with doing it this way. It becomes harder to sync up the video (we would need a visual cue, rather than an audio one), it's impossible to equalize everyone's volume in post, and I'd either have to record my game audio or play the game silent. And worst of all, it introduces the problem of a racer's audio desyncing from his own video.

One thing I could try is setting up a dummy LetsRacingTime skype account, run it on my laptop, and record the call with Audacity.

RE: Guardian Legend: I've never finished it, but what I've played of it I've always liked. I think Brick should try playing it and if he doesn't hate it do an LP

I acquired that cartridge a few years back and had a pretty great time beating it. I can't remember what the order of dangerous colours is (red->green->blue?) but the two hardest parts of the game are the strongest version of the eyeball boss and the first level. If Brickroad can get to the Zelda-like part of the game without hating it I would also enjoy a LP.

And if Brick doesn't want to LP it, I will!

Seriously, though, first level is bullshit.

Same here. Well... I didn't find the first level so bad. At least I don't remember it being so bad (not as bad as that eyeball boss). Oh wait... I actually had problems with one of the weaker versions of that boss. So I had to resort to ... drastic measures in order to beat the game. But only for those damn eyeball bosses!

Yeah, I figured 5 minutes of audio wasn't going to do much. Think I've got the issue sorted out, at least.

So since I have all this stuff set up for that last race, I might as well think about catching the next one. Seeing as I have extra time, I'm thinking maybe I should work out the right combination of emulator and... elf blood? Needed to actually use this PS3 controller, rather than the hilariously ineffective laptop keyboardery I was using for test recording. Anyone want to clue me in there?

Also, I have half a mind to throw a pile of save states together to make some kind of "Harrison Ford" edition pentathalon.

Indeed. I had people calling me that more often over skype/teamspeak than forums.

Is there a list of likely games to race now? I didn't want to search through the 10+ pages to see what people are currently considering. I think Contra would be a fun one.

With or without the code? I think if you are going for speed, being able to throw yourself against the game with 30 lives would be faster and probably more hilarious.

Bonus points if you guys can figure out a way to do 2-man teams.

That's simple! Unless, of course, you meant that the two men would be controlled by different players.

(Now, then... what would be the best game to force people to play both players simultaneously?)

Hmmm, is the AI dumb enough in Double Dragon to be able to keep the enemies focused on one player at a time?

Though if any Tyrants live close enough to each other to pull it off, or can do the voodoo that is netplay for an emulator, I think a 2-on-2 race of anything were you can kill/hurt your partner would be awesome. I'm just imagining trying to race up the Waterfall level of Contra without killing your buddy over and over again.
