Anywho, on to the reason of the post. Lots of people said they wanted to help out with the races I was processing, so here is an open call. I need achievements, if you guys could think about the two races, Super Mario All-Stars (1, 2, & 3) and Super Mario World (No Warps); and brainstorm some ideas for different basic achievement things, or talking time memes that I may not know about since I am one of the newer "Talking Tyrants". You guys have seen the Mario 3 race and probably played something with achievements, I need a title for it, flavor text about what it is, and what conditions are needed to earn it.

Oh, and would you kindly send them via PM? Thanks! XD

(I am still doing pre-render stuff right now, I will be making the images a little later.)

I don't know shit on the technical side, but if anyone's interested I'd actually love to race Bionic Commando.

Who did the layout for the SMB3 race? It's really good! Achievements are a lot of work to add, but I feel like they make watching races more entertaining.

The MMX race is nowhere near done, but the work-in-progress is so goddamn sexy I figured I'd give you dudes a sneak peek:

kefkafloyd whipped that snazzy backdrop. I'll probably redo the boss counters. And either the timer isn't zeroed yet, or we all took eight minutes to complete Chill Penguin. Anyway, the video is fucking huge, and should look absolutely gorgeous at fullscreen. I don't think I've ever uploaded an HD video to YouTube before. Fun!

Torgo, can you post the code you used for the MM3 boss counters so I can jack it for my own nefarious purposes?

And Mike, the Pentathlon II video is done, toasted, buttered and ready to serve. (Way, way uglier than MMX, though.) I'll wait for your say-so to pull the trigger on it. kefka might be interested in running if/when you do a second heat, so let me know if you need warm bodies and I'll pass the word along.

Agh, I'm still upset I wasn't able to participate in this race! MMX is one of my all time favorite games and one I would actually be able to race well.

Collect some peeps and do another heat. It's not like we won't watch Mega Man X over and over.

Or hold out until the inevitable X2/X3/X4 races.

Is there a Mega Man game that people wouldn't watch over and over?

Name a time and place Destil. I'm always up for some Mega Man. This coming Sunday maybe if nothing else?

mark8=AudioDub(mark8, BlankClip(last, length=200)).ResampleAudio(48000)

mark9=ImageSource("marker9.png", fps=30, start=68972, end=xxxxx, use_DevIL=true)
mark9=AudioDub(mark9, BlankClip(last, length=200)).ResampleAudio(48000)

final=alignedsplice(mark1,mark2,mark3,mark4,mark5,mark6,mark7,mark8,mark9)

final
Basically, what's going on here is that using ImageSource's start and end command you can cut together exactly when you need each image to... well, start and end. Mark1 being all the robot masters lit, mark2 being the first one greyed out, and so forth. Run the script to make a separate "video" that you can overlay where needed in the final product. As you can see I cribbed the audiodub line from your pentathalon script, that way it has "audio" and will play nice with the rest of the footage.

The nice thing about this is that you can simply have one end at the frame before you need the next to begin, cutting out pretty much any need for calculations.

Here's my script for the final overlay for Mega Man 3:
Code:
o1=Overlay(bg,nari, x=8, y=12).ChangeFPS(30)
o2=Overlay(o1,nich, x=292, y=12).ChangeFPS(30)
o3=Overlay(o2,red, x=8, y=248).ChangeFPS(30)
o4=Overlay(o3,torgo, x=292, y=248).ChangeFPS(30)
o5=overlay(o4,torgomarker, x=552, y=270).ChangeFPS(30)
o6=overlay(o5,nichmarker, x=552, y=40).ChangeFPS(30)
o7=overlay(o6,redmarker, x=266, y=270).ChangeFPS(30)
o8=overlay(o7,narimarker, x=266, y=40).ChangeFPS(30)
Nice and neat. Less nice is that you're basically telling your system to overlay and process like eight videos at once, so it's pretty hardware intensive. Another solution is that you could probably make a "video" of your markers and the background in a separate rendering pass.

The bottom line is that you still have to 1) get the individual frames for when bosses are defeated and 2) make a separate .png for each permutation needed. But! No more math, and that's what really counts.

Mega Man 1 race anyone? I actually consider myself good at that game, so of course I want to race it.

...wonder how that would work out, if everyone would abuse the Elec Beam trick or not(my personal honor code forbids me to, but in a race, I believe it should be allowed)

I'd race MM1 as long as the select trick is kosher. If someone beats it without it then they can get a little gold star next to their name or whatever but I'm all for races that don't take like 3 hours.

Depending on the time and date, I'd be down for racing some Mega Manz.

Can do both Wily Machine and Yellow Devil easily no damage with only buster weapon if needed. Seriously, they are over-rated difficulty wise.

It's the Clone and the second boss rush that always gets in my way.

I can get the yellow devil down about 33% of the time easily without the select trick, but in a race I'd probably just fall back on it. It's the Wily Machine I don't have any experience actually fighting, I've always just relied on cheesing it. Strangely enough the copy fight and the boss rush don't give me too much trouble.

Also, I just noticed that at one point in the SMB2 race I wound up calling the race a 'thunderdome'. Not quite sure why I did that in retrospect, must've been a TT brainfart.

Hey guys, I got married, moved, finished a semester of college, and have generally completed a bunch of massive life tasks, and now have a bunch of free time to do this stuff.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a Megaman 1-6 boss rush race? Meaning, just beat the 8 robot masters of megaman games 1-6, in no particular order. I saw some dudes on speedrunslive doing it, and it sounds kinda fun.

Or any megaman game?? I really like megaman, guys.

This is a cool idea that I support.

... I'd be down to run it, but I also have a computer with dead USB ports, so I can't run anything until I get it fixed. :/

Yeah, second boss rush and Wily 1 (the stage) are my sticking points in MM1.

EDIT: Did you know the pause trick doesn't work in the DSiWare version? Because it's either that or I'm screwing it up.

The eshop version? I did the trick there today(against rematch Iceman) and it worked fine.
But for some reason I screwed up against Wily second form and had to relearn the pattern. It's not really difficult, but it's a very certain rhytm one have to follow to avoid all his attacks.
But I may have fond a working strategy against the Clone. I even got my first ever flawless against Fire Man today.

I'm also out of town and got a tight schedule this week. Probably not available for anything until Sunday at least.

May just be the awkward position of the select button then, I wasn't able to pull it off on Yellow Devil when I got there last time and just went with dodging (he's honestly not bad).
