I'd like to start working on megaman 3 but keepvid and/or firefox and/or my isp is being unbelievably stupid and keeps cutting off my download after 100-200mb.

I was going to ask about MM3.

So is there a list of games for upcoming races? And when are they usually done?

It's really more about saying "Hey, I wanna race X, who's interested?" and going from there.

Hah, seems like I've fixed my 4gb issue and just successfully recorded a working 6.11gb video(by using Microsoft Video 1 in Hypercam. Of all codecs I could have tried, the Microsoft one worked, I did not see that one coming).
Now I just need to do some 5 hour long test recordings to be sure it works every time. Not sure if I'm up for a race this weekend(well, probably am), but I'm up for anything you can throw at me next weekend. |

The codec I use in Hypercam is ffdShow, the entire 2 hour (and change) recording for the recent Pentathalon came to about 1.8 gigs in that codec, which was reduced even further when I ran the file through that zune program for uploadin'.
Of course, if space is not a premium then the Windows codec is probably good enough if you're going to be reducing the file size of the video anyway, but if you don't have much to work with maybe try ffdShow. |

I have ffdShow installed, but for some reason, it doesn't show up in Hypercam.
Oh well, recording is functioning now, I even seem to have fixed the desyncing. I reduce the file size when splicing in audio anyway. |

Still having issues getting the footage, Torgo?

Thankfully yes. Work to commence forthwith.

Updatez!
I've been working too much on personal LPs and haven't gotten any race stuff done... which is just as well since Narish seems to have vanished. He never PM'd me his Pentathlon footage. So... I don't know. I already was going to have to compile the footage with one guy down. It might be unwatchable with two down. What do you guys think? |

Let's give him a little longer to show up. The races that are missing a person tend to be pretty hard to watch for me.
In other news, I finally upgraded my OS and did a clean install, so my computer is running much better, so I'm going to start testing to see if I can get in on a race soon! Epic failure and hilarity ahoy! |

Apologies for my being so absent. I've had some serious RL things happen that I've had to take care of. Anywho, I thought I had sent it to your skype Brick. Perhaps I didn't and just thought about doing that... anyway yeah I'll PM you the link here. ^_^

Apparently Skype doesn't, I did post the messages to you there, but they are still "sending" XD

I'm happy to report that Mega Man 3 should be done and ready by the end of the work week at the latest. The last major step (besides uploading, ugh) is cobbling together the soundtrack.
Would anyone be willing to help a brother expedite the process a little? What I need is a set of markers for progress. Specifically, all eight robot master's portraits, arranged vertically. No wider than 24 pixels, and no longer than 224 pixels. |

Hey guys, just wanted to say that I've watched through three of the Racing Time videos so far and I'm loving them! Keep it up! (I've watched Disney Afternoon, Mario Land and Aladdin!
I've been having a bit of a Disney Afternoon run myself, as I just played through Ducktales last month, Rescue Rangers this past week, and today I beat Darkwing Duck for the first time! |

Alright, so what's the current winning combination of recording software, codecs, settings, emulators, etc.? I want to try to get this thing set up so I can join in a race soon.
E: Okay, looking back over the thread, I think I'm set up. I'll try to do a long test recording at some point and hopefully be ready to race! (I also might get around to that STTB2 at Link LP I wanted to do a while back.) E2: Oh, is there a trick to getting rid of the "unregistered hypercam" thing, or does Brick just crop that out in editing? I just put it over the menu bar in my emulator when I was testing. Also, is there a decent free video editor I could mess with if I do start an LP? Last edited by McClain; 05-13-2013 at 02:47 PM. |

I think they must have made it free or made version 2 free and moved on with Hypercam 3 or something. If you've had the program for a while, uninstall and download it again and see if it's gone. |

HyperCam 2 is pretty painless to use. I wholly recommend it.

Jesus Christ, just a heads up, but the install of Hypercam 2 used every dirty trick to try to get me to install toobars with it, and I thought I avoided them all, and I STILL ended up with a new chrome extension* which made "helpful" links appear in random text all over the freaking place.
I guess that's the price of "free" *AND Firefox! fjslkdajflsda;jflsd |

WARNING!
Okay, maybe I have have bad luck, but if you recently downloaded Hypercam 2, I would run a virus check. After seeing new extensions added to chrome and firefox, I launch internet explorer to try to clear it, and it fucking launched a DLL file that made my antivirus freak the hell out and make me restart right away to clean it off. Look for "foodbuzz" or something like that if you are worried you got the same crap installed. I go this shit from CNET, not some random corner of the Internet, too. kfljsdalfjsl;jfalsdjflsjfl;jsdf EDIT: Minor malware meltdown notwithstanding, I think I got hypercam doing what I want it to and should be ready for a good long recording test tomorrow before work, and barring any setbacks, I should be down for a race soon! I JUST cleaned off an obnoxious virus today, too..

I managed to avoid them all I think, ran a virus check a few days after installing at least, and it didn't find anything, so I didn't evn know. But yeah, that's pretty evil.

ALRIGHT, so I just did a bit of a test video, and I made it through World 4 of SMB3 in just about an hour. Is that enough of a test, or should I keep this thing paused and try to finish the game later and push it to two hours? Hard drive space shouldn't be a problem, and if it hasn't horribly desynced by now I hope it wouldn't later.
I'm mostly worried about losing my recording if I leave it paused, hahaha. What do you guys think? Stop it and check what I've got now for problems, or do I really need to push it to two hours to test it? It's probably that I missed one of the things where it said to hit okay to not not install something. It was all pretty shady. |

I would recommend letting the test video record until it reaches over 4gb in size. That seems to be the magic number a lot of codecs can't handle. Just let it record while you do other things on the computer.
Better to know if you're safe now, than to risk corrupting what you record later and maybe ruin a race. My original pentathlon recording was on slightly over 4gb, and I had to cut the last few minutes(luckily, I was done and didn't really lose anything) |
