"You call that a knife? This is a knife." "That's not a knife, that's a Spoon." I wonder if a knifey bard is better than a spoony one. I was sure that I did try it and that it wouldn't let me go through with the Hovercraft in tow! O memory, thou treacherous villain. |

The first time I did this sidequest I got Sylph and then continued with the plot. I found out that if you don't take the PAN back before the endgame, you're stuck with it in your inventory forever.

In all seriousness, though, this thing has been top notch and I don't think anyone else had any qualms about that update. Still, it's good that you were worried about it because that means you care about the quality of your work. But don't sweat it. This is still Super Best Screenshot LP Evar. |

Meanwhile, I could have sworn there was a place that could only be accessed via underground hovercraft!

The spoon was called a 'hocho' in the original Japanese FF4, which roughly means 'kitchen knife.' A spoon is a certainly more memorable weapon.

Also, it echoes the theme of spooniness that pervades the game.

Interesting... origin of the Tonberry's chef knife attack?

The Pan's Japanese name is "Fry Pan of Love." Which is amazing.

Oh great. Now Deptford is going to draw a picture of Yang with a frying-pan-shaped protrusion in his smiley face pants.

whats all the frontin' on Edge's fighting rep? His throw skill does way more hurt than yang's anything.
I should also mention that Cecil's full name in the japanese version was Cecil Freckle Dumplins Harvey. Why they changed it, one can only speculate. |

1. Vanilla run 2. Re-experience the game, if it has any branching choices I generally go for the ones I didn't pick the first time. For Cave Story, repeat this about 5 times as I obsessively try every possible combination of weapons. 3. Challenge run (single-character, low-level, etc.) that I give up on by the first dungeon. If the game is FF1 or FF3j, repeat this step roughly 20 times. 4. "Hey, let's try going for all the exposition and seeing if there are any sidequests!" Did you know Jack tells you how Arthur became a hero of the Mimiga, and also how the Red Demon ties into the story? He does! I've only played FF4 3 times, so... |

I think you have to talk to him just after the Labyrinth. My memory's a bit fuzzy though, basically just obsessively find and talk to him at every point in the game and you'll get it.

Holy crap! What are everybody else's full names? I originally wrote that sentence as "Holy crap, what are everybody else's full names?", as if there was a member on this board named Holy Crap who I was addressing by name. Ah, grammar! |

Well, let's see. There's Kain Judas Benedict Highwind, Rosa Joanna Elizabeth Buttercup Tennessee Mayflower Eisntein Phillips Farrell (or "Pookie", as her friends call her), Rydia Orphenne, Tellah McSage (took up his mother's last name; couldn't bear his father's family name Brainlesse), Yang Fang Bang Wang Kaclang Leiden III, Cid Beardruff Tallgruff Pollendina, Edward Chrus von Muir, and Edge Knife Boxcutter Geraldine.

I disagree. Rosa's name sounds right, but I'm pretty sure the bard is Edward Elopticontra Spoonicus Clopashindigdoggerel.
