The virus sound effect always kinda freaked me out, so I never used it. So I guess that's another point in its favor.

I only recently found out that most "human" characters are weak to it, after years of being disappointed in its damage.

Are we going to sing any praises of FFII's sliding windows? That's a feature I don't think I've seen before or since in console RPGs. Did every version of this game keep them?

I know for a fact that the GBA version didn't, because I was just playing it, and I for one am glad they sped up the menus. It was cute, but not practical.

Sliding Windows? I know Chrono Trigger had the dialogue windows switch between the top and the bottom if you pressed a button (X on the SNES pad, I think, it's been a while since I played that version)

Yeah, the effect is nifty the first time. Especially seeing all four save files pour out from one another like cards being dealt. But it gets tedious pretty fast. And there has been a pseudo-facsimile of it since (that being Xenogears' menu system), which also became irritating. Though XG's menu at least lets you cancel the animation before it's done by hitting X. I remember doing that a lot.

In FFIX, Bio is your go-to spell in boss battles if you're playing a Level 1 Ozma challenge (which I am).

Well now, that sounds like one of the more masochistic challenges I've heard lately. Since the other FFIX LP died for reasons outside the author's control, you should clearly share it with us.

Brick, you bastard, you have me replaying FFIV again. This time I'm going with the Advance version, but I'm using the European rom to avoid the bugs (I have the usa cart, shut up people jesus) on ye olde iphonee. Love the long-format updates, and god do those NP images bring back memories.

Thanks John. Actually I was worried that the updates were TOO long, but I guess not!
Also, are you guys digging on the crappy animated gifs? Because if they're not adding much I could speed up the update process some by skipping them. |

How about you only make gifs of Edward getting beat up?
or outsource your gif making to Kishi |

If the animated gifs are getting to be a pain, ditch 'em. The sooner we get our fix, the better!

Yet another Brickroad masterpiece. I've only played the GBA version of FF4, so it's nice to see the original version.
As an aside, I'm thinking about going back and doing my FF2 Prototype LP just so there will be 3 different Final Fantasy II LPs going on at once. Also: I just thought I would let you know that you made me laugh so hard that every eye in Buffalo Wild wings was on me. YOU BASTARD |

But it's inevitable that there are going to be update begs. I think we should just let Percy get that whole vibe out of our system. I NEED MOAR LP, BOSS. MOAR LP OR I'LL DROP ALL YOUR THINGS. |

This is random and I don't know why I'm posting this here, but I just had an idea for a weird fanfic/LP hybrid: I play through each Final Fantasy, using the same names throughout, and then try to tie the narratives together.
To elaborate: I'd name my FF2 and FF3 party the same as my FF1 party, come FF4 I'd use those names plus the temporary party members in 2/3, in FF5 I'd name Bartz after my fighter, and in FF6 I'd use the temporary party members from 2/3 plus Lenna, Faris, and Krile, and the same idea carries over through the sequels. I'd really like to see the part where Gordon from 2 (who is a complete loser) stays sucky in 4 as Edward, then suddenly becomes a huge badass in 6 when he's Edgar. I'm also going to end up using my Black Mage's name for every turncoat in the series after Leon gets his name in 2. |

I've enjoyed the animated GIFs so far. Endless Edward slapping had me cracking up. Your LPs are always entertaining so if you have ideas for animated GIFs that bring something to the LP, I can go with that.

FF1: Go through normally until final Chaos fight, at which point Garland, rather than transform and attack, sends the heroes to... FF2: The heroes find themselves weakened, and attempt to live their lives as commoners in this new world. But Fynn is burned down, etc etc, they end up defeating the Emperor of Hell, whose death causes a metaphysical clusterfuck. They end up teleporting into a hole in... FF3: They are once again weakened, and wearing ridiculous outfits to boot. Same old song and dance, same thing happens with the CoD as with Empy, they end up in... FF4: Where somehow, their partners from 2 and 3 ended up as well. Zeromus actually had a plan involving the metaphysical stuff this time, so things get interesting when the party gets split... FF5: Only the party leader (most likely the FIGHTER from 1) ends up here, where he realizes he needs to find the rest of his friends. He meets 3 others along the way, and ultimately defeats Exdeath, thereby opening the Void to reach... FF6: Where the rest of the party ended up. The FIGHTER shows up as Setzer, but before he can take everyone back to defeat Garland, Kefka fucks with the Statues, and if they can't put everything in order in this world, the Void's closed off. They defeat Kefka, and end up back at... FF1: This will be entirely fanfic, but will involve all of the characters (including the ones I hadn't reused yet, such as Alus, Sara, and Minwu, most likely) battling an uber-powerful Chaos, who could end up destroying all the worlds... |

Emergency Rydia Question!! How effective is the Cockatrice summon in SNES FF II? I'm not exaggerating when I say it has been saving my ass in The After Years. It insta-kills almost everything.

I've thought about the logistics of a fanfic/LP for FF4. My idea is Darths and Droids-inspired (see also: DM of the Rings), in that it's a roleplaying group playing a FF4 campaign. It's tricky figuring out why the gaming group fluctuates so much to match the fluctuations in-game. But some things the characters do in FF4 are so nuts it really seems like something a player would do. If only Yang and Cid weren't in the party at the same time for a bit - having a player who insists on blowing up all his characters is so typical.
