Oh wow, that freestyle rap battle in the previous update has to be the most hilariously awful thing yet. That was great.

Wow.

I've actually reached the limit of my Photobucket album (2500 images).

Which is really weird, since my BN1 LP only reached 1549, and my BN6 LP 2005. And that was including the story and the post game.

Not worried enough to go to the Airport it seems. Unless Lan didn’t tell them, but that’s pretty unlikely.

It's quiet because all of the people were murdered.

Anyways, I went to Yumland to fight

this guy.

Aside from an early mishap with a Rolling Cutter, the battle went really well.

As it turns out, I missed something in Yum 1.

0:00:01 seconds away from an S. Gah.

We can jack into the statue in Yai’s house now. Inside was just a Bug Frag.

And inside her telephone is where you need to go to fulfill one of the job requests. The reason I’m showing this is because the reward is very important.

Remember those “mysterious Security Cubes”?

They’re actually all put up by Gospel. Excuse me while I run around the net looking for them.

Den 1 had 30,000 Z, Netopia 2 also had 30,000 Z, and Koto had an Ice Stage I.

Netopia 1 just had a Gospel Cube blocking a shortcut through the area, and Yum 2 had a Gospel Cube blocking a link to Netopia 3.

Incidentally…

Despite the fact all Protoman did was attack Megaman, somehow he’s getting credit too.

Also, Airman V3 seems to be really angry I Gater-ed him, because every time I went through Den 1 he appeared. Sometimes twice in a row. In total I faced him five times.

I faced Quickman V3 too.

He has a new move where he sends a slightly smaller boomerang that zig-zags through your area. It’s kind of hard to explain.

More importantly, you now have even less time to counter attack him.

Good thing Rock Cubes count as Breaking, huh?

Unfortunately…

Thankfully, when I reloaded the game he didn’t appear again.

Anyways, as a complete side note…

We can enter the Undernet now. It’s a pretty confusing place. Note that most of the GMDs are trapped, so it’s well worth it to use an Untrap here.

The viruses here are all very powerful. Incidentally, with these guys if you place a Rock Cube underneath where they’re going to land they’ll take 200 damage.

Rock Cubes are very handy chips.

Those blue things are here too. I let one live to see what it does. Turns out it just moves around and occasionally forms two whirlpools on your side of the field. It can also appear on your side and push you back one panel.

Presumably it instantly kills enemies under a certain HP.

YES.

Full Custom instantly fills your Custom Bar when you use it. It’s extremely handy for speed deletes.

Sounds like we should go further.

Under 2 has two things of note. First, Magnetman V2.

Magnetman’s chip is North South Tackle.

The second thing is that it links to the Under Square.

The thing about the Under Square is that one of its Boards has some fairly important information.

Aside from that…

This jerk won’t let us into the main part of Under 3.

I guess that means we’ll just have to go to Under 4 instead.

Looks like I’ve found the post-game area. To enter I’ll need to beat the game and have at least 130 chips in my library.

Oh hey, a Brushman. These guys move around their side of the field and form Holy Panels wherever they go. They drop Holy Panel chips.

Anyways, near the entrance to the post-game area is the link to Under 5.

Oh god, not these things. If you try and attack a Snapper, it’ll appear on your side of the field and release multi-hit kunai.

Like so. They drop Kunai chips, which summon those kunais in two certain panels depending on where Megaman's standing.

Under 5’s GMDs are all trapped. They either hold 100 Z or 50,000 Z.

Damn it, how many Under areas are there? Anyways, it may have been bad luck but I couldn‘t run from any of the virus encounters.

Let’s not ask why the most lawless part of the Net would recognize high ranking Officials.

Under 6 has a path to the central part of Under 5.

There are three things here.

First, an Unlocker.

Second, Shadowman V2.

The battle went spectacularly well. Shadowman’s chip is essentially a much less powerful Gater.

Third is Numberman.

Anti chips set a trap on the field. If anything triggers the trap (for example, if a fire attack is used after an Anti Fire is set), the whole screen is hit for damage. This only applies to the elemental ones though; the other four null element ones work a little differently.

Great, I think I can stop.

Under 1’s BMD held a RegUp2. Under 2’s BMD held a HP Memory. Under 3’s BMD was behind a Gospel Cube, yet only held a Bug Frag. Under 5 had a PMD with an Attack +20 * and as mentioned earlier an Unlocker. Under 6’s BMD was behind the S-License Cube and held a RegUp2. And Under 7 had a Grass Stage H.

Now, what was I supposed to be doing? Oh, right, Yai.

*twitch*

It’s spelled H-I-J-A-C-K.

Wait, so they just suddenly started spelling it right? Did the translators just take a break after the first screen of this scenario?

The scientist recommends Yuichiro take a break before he overdoes it. He then points out that Yuichiro hasn’t seen Lan in a while.

The screen starts to shake.

The screen stops shaking. Yuichiro asks if the scientist is alright.

…What? How the hell can you control tectonic movement?

Yuichiro asks what it says.

The scientist notes the disasters are getting worse.

The screen shakes again.

Scene shift!

Lan gets an e-mail.

What, did she just stop typing here?

Megaman volunteers to find Roll.

…So Lan told Megaman to calm down so he could state the obvious?

We get more mail after that.

We get a Freepass, which gives us unlimited flights to Netopia and Electopia.

We should actually go to the Airport.

In the Departure area is the last Retro Trader.

And in the boarding area….

You tried to burn down Lan’s house, and were working with a group planning to destroy the world. Lan can glare at you all he likes.

Ha, Megaman won’t even use his name.

Heatman is one of the rare BN2 bosses that does not have a gimmick. Well, unless you count his annoying habit of sometimes moving as soon as you use a chip, but that’s pretty much par for the course.

His main attack is a Fire Tower.

His second attack has him crash onto a panel on your side of the field and create a Lava panel.

At low health Heatman will close his lid and form three fire pillars on your side of the field. He does this three times straight.

And that’s it. Reset time.

I have an Aqua Style. This fight is freakishly easy.

…HPMemories aren’t chips.

Anyways, there were some new job requests I felt I should talk about.

One of them pit me up against five battles straight, and rewarded me with a Power UP.

The other had me give this guy 50,000 Z to help his company survive the month. If you exit the mansion and go back in…

Another job had me head to Netopia.

Man, he upgraded fast.

God damn clouds.

Your clan has nothing to do with those freaking stupid clouds.

After about four more tries, once again I decided to cheat.

But it turns out HIS CLOUDS CAN BLOCK GATER.

He has enough HP to survive anything that isn’t Gater +50. Thankfully, +40 is enough to cripple him to the point a charge shot can take care of him.

Like Quickman, your window of opportunity to hit Snakeman has severely shrunk.

Man, I hate how I basically have to Gater all of the gimmick bosses.

Gah, one more try.

There we go.

Hilariously enough, if we say no…

This guy wants a Popup D. Popup chips are frustrating to get, and if you want to see why go read my BN1 LP, because I am not running all the way back to Under 6 to try and get into a rare encounter.

Anyways, I did actually get a Popup chip all the way back when I was exploring the Under. I just didn’t mention it.

Unfortunately…

It’s I coded.

Next time: The actual plot.

Current Folder

Bubbler R x4
Tree Bomb R x2
Fire Blade R x4
Elec Blade R x3
Guts Punch B
Cold Punch B x3
Yo-Yo1 R
Area Grab R - REGULAR
Rock Cube * x3
Full Custom * x2
Shadow R
Attack +20 * x3
Attack +30 *
Protoman B

Total codes (not counting * code): 2

I want to stress it for you guys: At this point, it is entirely possible to farm Gateman for as many Gateman chips as you can use (it's a good reason to use TeamStyle) and fill your folder with nothing but Gateman, Fan, Wind and Attack-up chips. And it will decimate EVERYTHING IN THE GAME.

Custom style lets you draw more chips, which makes it more suited for using Program Advances.

I think you're thinking of BN3, where Team Style got you V4 chips.

Oh, and for those of you wondering my current Gater Folder is:

Guard * x4
Wind * x3
Fan G
Fan * x3
Full Custom * X3
Invisible1 *
Attack +10 * x4
Attack +20 * x4
Attack +30 *
Navi +20 *
Gateman G - REGULAR
Gateman V3 G x4

Total codes (not counting *): 1.

Note that two of the Full Customs, three of the Attack +20s, and the Attack +30 are normally in my main folder, but I switch them over whenever it's time to Gater abuse.

I meant teamstyle, to increase the density of your Gateman chips. Custom is probably better, of course, but if the game sticks you with Team it's still a good option.

I am mildly disappointed that your Gater folder has only three Winds.

Numberman only sells three Wind *s, and I don't feel like grinding Windboxes.

I also don't feel like Gospel duplicating.

And there's no real point to having more Gateman chips since you can set V1 (and later V2) as your Regular.

There's Program Advances like that for the other Navis, right? I remember one in Network Transmission where GutsMan picked up MegaMan by the leg and chucked him at enemies.

Too bad just about every Navi chip in that game was almost totally useless compared to a good ol' Cannon.

Before you can get multiple Gateman chips, the PA you mentioned is nice to have in your folder (and yes, it exists in BN2). Afterwards, not so much.

Yeah, Guts Shoot is still in the game (Guard - Dash Attack - Gutsman). I actually had it in my folder (that's why there are four Guard *s), but I kicked it out to make room for all of the Attack +'s and Gateman V3s.

The Net is covered in ice crystals.

Unfortunately…

He’s supposed to be saying Netopia and Yumland, but eh.

Our destination is Koto Area.

Fffffffffffffff-

So yeah, much to my surprise Gater doesn’t count as a Breaking attack.

That’s actually a good question. I should check in on them later.

Near the warp to Koto Square is a navi trapped behind some white ice. If you free him, he’ll give you something he found on the ground.

Megaman notes the fragment is emitting the same radio signals as the ice. He recommends Lan take it to Yuichiro.

Before I do that though, I need to do two things.

First…

That feels so much better.

Okay, switching back to my main folder no-

Bwuh?

…Was it only in BN3 where they introduced the “never get the same style you have” thing?

Anyways, Megaman notes he’s bursting with energy.

Of course I’m not keeping this.

Alright, I guess that’s al-

Alright, let’s check with the Officials.

But it’s your job!

Hah, formatting error.

What a brilliant conclusion.

Lan asks what he means.

We knew this already.

I’m not even going to ask how it would even be physically possible to control natural disasters.

Lan is surprised to hear the ice is a virus.

But it doesn’t do anything but just sit there.

“Cure”? I think you mean patch.

Then Yuichiro laments that they need a sample from the red ice to create it. Which makes me wonder how he even knows they can create a Red Cure without having actually made it yet.

Lan hands over the Red Fragment.

Yuichiro turns to the computer and types for a bit. He then turns back.

That makes even less sense! Are you saying this Environmental System somehow stopped natural disasters, but didn’t actually do anything to fix the main cause? Why would you make something like that?

Yuichiro tells Lan he’s leaving the ice viruses to him. He notes that it’s an important duty, but he’s sure they can do it.

With the Red Cure we can reach Yumland and Netopia.

Huh, I missed one.

Fire Rattons are weird. If used, Megaman will set down a big red rat-shaped bomb in front of him. This bomb will do nothing unless hit by a fire attack. If it is hit by one, it’ll act like a normal Ratton chip. Just super-powered.

Roll thanks Megaman and Lan, and notes that she can now contact Mayl.

I guess that it makes sense for a game about the internet to not have a lot of spell-checking.

Roll apologizes for making Mayl worry, and promises to come home soon.

After finishing her apology, Roll gives us a warning.

Is it State-The-Obvious day or something?

Near Roll is a trapped Mr. Prog. When you free him, he promises to never slack off again.

He then notes he’ll need to take a break. Yeah.

Anyways, we need to head to Den Square and read the Street Board.

There are two posts about “Doc”, the guy the Under Board was talking about.

After we read the posts, we get an e-mail.

Incidentally, Den Board constantly updates as you go through the game, and there is some interesting stuff to read about there, such as the fact that people are getting uneasy about Kotobuki Town.

Anyways, we need to go to the Undernet, and the fastest way there is Mrs. Million’s purse in Netopia.

No, it doesn’t make sense story-wise, but eh.

Inside Netopia’s Boarding section is one of the stupidest trades in the game.

See, there’s this girl who wants to get a gift for her boyfriend.

Yeah, she wants four chips. These things are only dropped by the Megalian virus family, which are only found in Under 4 and Under 7 (Fire and Aqua in 4, Elec and Wood in 7). These things, incidentally, are an absolute pain in the ass to fight.

And what do we get in exchange?

A crap chip we can’t get anywhere else (barring Chip Trader luck of course).

Anyways, once we reach the Undernet we’re pretty much railroaded to Under Square.

The navi thanks us.

This navi tells us that the guy we’re looking for has left Net Square.

The purple navi admits he can tell Megaman, but he won’t do it for free.

S-Rank a Tuff Bunny to get one. Not very hard.

After you hand it over…

The purple navi asks if Megaman was surprised the keyword was the name of a criminal organization.

And with that, it’s time to head back to Under Square.

Yay.

Megaman posts the keyword.

Anywhere else this would be spam.

Doc asks if Megaman wants to play doctor.

Doc notes that if Megaman’s reached him, he’s probably pretty tough.

Doc reveals that he was actually already examining the ice.

Doc already has a Yellow Fragment, but he needs Heat Data.

So he has Heat Data, but he’s not handing it over. Nice.

Another PMD I forgot about. This one was in the refrigerator in Netopia Hotel. There was also a BMD with a Bug Frag.

We need to fly back to Electopia, head to Okuden, jack into the grill in the campsite, and then talk to a Mr. Prog, who‘ll recognize us as the one who saved his friend.

Megaman agrees.

Lan gets another e-mail.

Lan notes that they have no more time to waste.

Doc recommends we go to Netopia 2 to find a big brother.

Yeah, you can’t loop Knightman V3. Well, you still can but at a certain HP he’ll jump ahead, and that pretty much ruins the loop since I don’t have Air Sho-

OH COME ON.

*sigh*

After a quick run around the Net, I returned to the Undernet to find the little brother.

As soon as I entered Under 2...

You know what? Screw it. I’m equipping the Gater folder from here onwards.

And of course, right after I switch:

Three turns in, all my Full Customs are used but I only have Fans. Seriously, something is cursing me.

I didn’t know it was even possible to get V3 chips from rank 9.

The navi is surprised to hear we’re trying to break the ice too.

But you just said you didn’t know how to break the ice.

As it turns out, Under 4 and beyond has no ice at all. However, I do need to get those Aura chips, and with Gater it isn’t that hard.
