Lan points out that they’re in the Principal’s PC, so of course there’s data from all over the school.

Megaman asks if Lan can do anything to brighten the place up.

That… what?

Megaman wonders if it’s a clue. Our control then shifts to Lan.

So yeah, Flashman doesn’t even try to use Hypno Flash again.

Now instead of it being dark…

It’s flashing. Because that’s so much better.

The Key Datas are all in BMDs, but the one we need is locked behind Door B. And Key Data B is behind Door A.

Key Data A is just lying nearby though.

Some of the BMDs are trapped, incidentally. It’s always the same ones, but I examine them anyways.

BMDs held 600 Z, a RegUp1, and a Recover 10 *.

Megaman asks how the door opens.

The navi laments that it’s too dark to find them.

Lan decides to go turn on the lights again, and asks if Megaman knows which Cyberworld he’s in.

So apparently this antique that is in no way connected to the Cyberworld somehow has a presence in it anyways.

As another complete side note…

BN3 has some other new folder restrictions. You can only use four of a certain chip, and you can only have one of each kind of navi chip (so you can’t have five of a certain navi’s V3 chip anymore).

New virus. Eleballs bounce around the field in angles, and if you get near them they’ll stop and release a Plasma.

Plasma is essentially a slow rotation of thunderballs in a clockwise direction.

They drop Plasma chips, which are ridiculously broken if you know what they’re doing for reasons I will explain soon.

BMDs held 1200 Z, a Spreader P, and a HP Memory.

Flashman is really, really easy if you know what you’re doing.

His main attack has him detach one of his shoulder bulbs, stick it out, and somehow send a fairly fast homing wave of… light bulbs (?) at you.

Incidentally, Flashman has a really weird way of moving.

He warps. It doesn’t make him invincible or anything, he just does.

Anyways, Flashman’s other attack, Spark Arm, has him attack a T shape of panels.

At low health, Flashman will use his ultimate move. He’ll detach both of his shoulders and summon two light bulbs on your side of the field. If both are not destroyed fast enough…

After this Flashman generally uses an Area Grab then a Spark Arm.

If this battle seems like it’s much harder because of that last move, it’s not.

See, that move doesn’t do any damage. So if you have a Barrier up, you can ignore destroying the bulbs and avoid the flash anyways.

And it just so happens that if you were thorough about jacking in everywhere you’ll have a Barrier L chip and enough MB to set it as your Regular.

Anyways, there’s something special about bosses I want to talk about.

In BN1 and BN2, if you hit a boss with certain chips (Punch chips, Tree Bomb, etc) they’d be temporarily quiver for a bit. Essentially, they were stunned, only they didn’t get mercy invulnerability. You could take this time to hit them with something else, or set up a combo.

BN3 has more chips that do this. Specifically, Air Shot, the thing I just used, the Plasma series, Area Grab, and pretty much every single Wood Element chip.

As one last side note, if you’re playing White you can buy a Bamboo Sword N at the ACDC Square Net Dealer. That thing will cripple Flashman, and you can just soft reset until you start with it.

Rei asks if Flashman remembers the rules of their organization.

Flashman obeys.

The screen goes dark.

I used to read this as Shining Bowser Crusher. Anyways, the screen turns white.

Rei laughs that that flash will be a beacon for a major catastrophe.

Megaman turns the question around and asks if everyone else is okay.

Dex and Yai had no idea they were hypnotized.

Mayl thanks Lan. Lan tells her it was no problem.

The kids agree. Dex, Mayl, and Yai rush off.

Then we’re taken to outside school.

We then get some e-mail.

Dex Code is undoubtedly one of the most useful Pass codes in the game for reasons that will be explained later (I‘m saying that an awful lot).

Gutsman has not changed.

Neither has his chip.

And with that, it’s time to get to bed.

Cutscene time.

Do I see W’s on that desk..?

Apparently being at the center of an exploding laboratory wasn’t enough to kill Wily.

Wily boasts that this time his plans can not fail, for the WWW is different from before.

Rei rushes out.

…What? I thought he hated the Net.

Another scene shift.

A little boy steps out of the Metro station and looks around for a bit.

So yeah, he’s apparently just shouting out loud. Obviously, no one comes.

Then…

The man is confused by the question.

The man runs off, presumably embarrassed.

Another scene shift.

Megaman apologizes. Or at least tries to; his voice is still all staticy.

Megaman notes that something seems wrong with the PET. Lan theorizes that last flash from Flashman must have done something.

Megaman sighs that he hates bothering Yuichiro when he’s busy.

Megaman decides to send an e-mail to alert Yuichiro. Lan agrees that that’s a good idea and starts to leave.

Megaman, you’re Hub. You ARE Lan’s brother. You have been with him all of your life. You know damn well Lan doesn’t have a little brother.

Rei's thing is that he's really... enthusiastic, I guess you could say, about WWW.

So Best Spirit works.

And his navi sucks, but the chip is awesome, so so does Best Zero.

As a side note, we need a name for beard guy. I'm taking the first one given.

Plasma is so great. My current folder has four of that in J code, as well as Shockwaves, Shotguns and Dashes.

It's worth grinding for.

EDIT: Incidentally, the shell-shaped award that was mentioned in the update is the following in BN3 White:

Now what were we doing?

Oh, right. Well, let’s get to the statio-

Bweh?

Oh, it’s that kid.

*sigh*

Mayl asks us to talk to the boy.

Megaman tells Lan to just ask the kid who his brother is.

Lan responds that he has stuff to do as well.

Oh.

Then how did he know who you were…? Oh, right, one of BN’s themes is the bond between brothers.

Dex apologizes for any trouble Chisao may have caused.

Yai snickers.

Yai once again flares up.

Megaman asks Lan what they should do. With that, we get control of Lan.

We have two choices.

And there’s no way out.

As you can see, the naming system for Navis has changed. V2 is now Alpha, and V3 is now Beta. There’s also Omega, but that’s much later.

Anyways, if we beat Gutsman Alpha…

We can get Gutsman V2. This is the earliest you can get it, and if you don’t get it now you’ll have to wait at least three scenarios.

However…

You’ll end up ruining the first meeting between brothers.

So, seriously?

Just take the fall.

Scilab has recently been remodeled in-story.

This guy has the first Unlockers you can buy.

And here’s where you start the Jobs in this game.

The other poster has a girl and a navi on it, and some words.

And now for one of the most hard to find jack in spots ever.

And what’s inside it?

A one-of-a-kind chip not found anywhere else. And 700 Z.

We can also jack into that vending machine. Inside is a RegUp2.

And a new virus.

Pengis move around the field. If they end up standing on an ice panel, they become invulnerable to all non-Breaking attacks. They fire off Ice Waves, which are a snowflake that slowly waves through two rows.

They drop Ice Wave chips.

There’s one more thing.

It’s pretty simple. Pick one of the two.

If you win, you get double your bet and can keep on going until you bankrupt the guy. If you lose…

Megaman shows signs of addiction.

Anyways, in the actual games this game is pretty much useless since there’s so much luck involved. But on an emulator, with save states…

So you can get some pretty rare chips this way.

Damn, you can actually beat these guys permanently? Guess I have one more thing to do on my actual BN3 Blue cart before I can really say 100% completion…

There’s one comparatively minor thing about BN3 that makes it a lot more convenient than BN1 and BN2.

You can just walk up to the elevator and it will open. If you try this in BN1 and BN2...

Lan asks if Yuichiro is around to look at his PET.

The man tells Lan he’ll be sure to tell Yuichiro his son came by.

Megaman’s surprised too.

He’s not kidding. As soon as you read this e-mail, a warp between ACDC Square and Dex’s HP will open up. And I mean as soon as you read this e-mail; the warp literally does not exist until you do.

Inside is a PMD with a Bamboo Sword N and a BMD with 1000 Z.

As soon as we head back to the first floor, a familiar face rushes over.

Lan’s shocked. Noboru Sunayama (that’s the guy’s name if I haven’t said it already) tells him to hurry before he’s disqualified.

Sunayama rushes off. He then rushes back.

Lan tells Megaman to quit it with the “hurry hurry”ing.

Now, the fastest way to Scilab Square is through the Virus Lab. Unfortunately…

We can’t go in.

So we have to get to the Cyber Metroline.

Which is all the way in the second part of ACDC 1. To get there, we have to go to ACDC 3, then take a side path. Naturally, this is a massive pain.

However, there’s a shortcut.

Dex’s HP links directly here. It’s really convenient.

Anyways, there’s one thing I need to do before I get on with things.

I probably should have put Bamboo Sword in my folder. Eh.

Anyways, BN3 does something new and pretty annoying with navi ghosts.

The beta version of the navi is not a random encounter in the same area as where you faced the alpha version.

I really can not stress just how pathetic Flashman is. A simple Barrier completely negates his light bulb move, and he spams the thing. And if you don’t have a Barrier up, a well timed Guard will also do the trick.

And that Bamboo Sword N? 280 solid non flinching damage.

I’m going to be blunt here. Flashman is one of the best chips in the game.

When used, Flashman does his light bulb attack, only without the bulbs and with damage.

Let’s count the reasons why this chip is so useful.

1) It pierces mercy invulnerability and Invis.
2) It pierces guards.
3) It stuns the enemy.
4) It hits the entire field.
5) It shares a code with an easy to use and assemble Program Advance (Hyper Ratton), and the super broken BN3 Variable Sword.
6) It both shares a code with and helps set up Plasma 3. Combined with the next feature, every boss in the game dies or is at the very least severely crippled.
7) Being an Electric chip, it does double damage on Ice. Ice Stage * is pretty easy to get in this game. So are Elec +30’s.
8) Flashman is retardedly easy to beat; a future (also broken) navi chip will actually kill his Beta form unboosted.

One of the things I really like about BN3 is how almost all of the chips can be ridiculously broken if you know what you’re doing.

Also, like BN6 pretty much every code has a strong folder. But unlike BN6, this isn’t because of strong * coded chips. It’s because there’s actually just that many awesome chips.

Anyways, time to head over to Mayl’s HP.

Sweet.

Alright, onwards with the plot.

Scilab Area’s Metro deposits us in Scilab 2, a short jog away from the Square.

Are Quakers new? Gah, whatever. These guys jump around. Whenever they land, Megaman can’t move for a bit and a shockwave is launched in their row. Naturally they always try to jump to Megaman’s row. They drop Rock Arm chips, which summon a Quaker to do its thing.

Once again, White gets the better deal with their Netshop, as he’ll sell Rock Cubes *’s.

I haven’t mentioned it yet, but Air Shot can also push obstacles.

And, well, I’m sure you all saw how useful punching Rock Cubes was last game. Imagine that with a no lag * code chip that doesn‘t require you to be right next to the cube.

I don’t know why, but Roll basically says the same thing twice.

Evil navis (from now on heel navis) have a new sprite.

Megaman warns Lan this might be the strongest opponent they’ve ever faced.

No, seriously, he says that. A guy with a fancy title is worse than freaking Bass.

Thankfully, Lan isn’t so gullible.

The heel navi (that’s what that navi model is called) looks around for a bit then scoots in closer.

The heel navi tells us to find him again for a retake.

Right ahead of us…

Is something very suspicious.

There’s actually a lower part of Scilab 1 that we can only get to from an alternate pathway near the Metro.

Hmm, something’s sealed off by four gates, the exact number of codes WWW is looking for. I’m sure this is completely unrelated.

Oh, right, new virus. Boomers move up and down their column. Once they reach either the top or bottom panel, they’re release a boomerang that will hit the border of the entire field. As long as they’re holding the boomerang though, they’re immune to non breaking damage.

Flashman totally owns them.

They drop Boomer chips, which do the same thing. It’s notable that the chip is Wood element, so you can use it as a handy stunning attack.

Scilab 2’s BMDs held a RegUp2 and a GrabBack A. Scilab 1’s BMD (we can only reach one right now) held an Invis *.

Lan groans and wonders if the PET is broken again.

We’re given a Cyber Metro ticket to ACDC as well.

If we get into a battle…
