My thoughts exactly. You’re both stuck underground. What the hell are you talking about? Wow. Just wow. I like to think that Protoman’s surprised Douche ordered him to do something so idiotic. Protoman is pretty tough. Note he still sticks to the back column. He still has Stepsword. This comes out pretty fast and does a nice chunk of damage, so quick reflexes are needed. He will use it as a counter attack every time you fire a charge shot or use a chip (he‘ll sometimes do it if you fire an uncharged buster shot). If you dodge it and don’t counter attack, he will try again up to two more times. Still has his shield too. This will block all non-breaking attacks, and he‘ll put it up if you abuse the buster. Thankfully, he doesn’t abuse it like he did in BN1, so you can attack him outside of counter attacks. Once you get him down to half HP though, Protoman whips out two more moves. First is Sonic Boom. This is essentially a moving Wide Sword slash (he‘ll only use it on his corner panels though, so one row is safe). It’s ridiculously fast (unless you’re in the back column, you are not dodging it if you’re not in a center panel), and later versions of Protoman will fire more in succession. |

Finally, after he does a Sonic Boom he’ll immediately go to your row and swing a Fighter Sword. Unlike in BN1, where Protoman had a very defensive fighting style, BN2’s Protoman is heavily counter oriented. As such, the best way to win is to lure him into a Step Sword with a fast attack with no cooldown, such as Bubbler. Remember how Aqua Styles have Bubbler charge shots? And how they charge really fast? The only question is if I can dodge his Step Swords. But I’ve managed a mostly no damage run on Protoman FZ in BN6. To me, Protoman V1 may as well be in slow motion. A quick reset later… That’s just like Lan, to apologize for deleting a navi trying to kill his brother. Incidentally, like I said earlier Douche knows that Megaman is Hub, and as such can not have back up data. And yet he tried to delete him anyways. Lan’s response is a pithy “?”. The hell are you talking about? You didn’t even operate Protoman, you just stood by and watched. Is this conversation seriously happening? He still going on about that? Raoul starts to twitch. |

So what’s Douche’s reaction to finding out he just tried to arrest an innocent and kill a scientific miracle? Yeah. Nice of Raoul not to tell is who “she” is. Seriously, it’s one syllable. Raoul stops twitching. Oh you’re going to have to do a lot more than apolog- …What? No you didn’t. Megaman brought it up, but you didn’t want to listen to him. Douche is honestly lucky this is Lan he’s dealing with. Lan agrees. With that, the cutscene finally ends. More like you were. Ha! I knew Douche knew some first aid. How nice of him to completely ignore a man with serious injuries in favor of attacking his friend. Amusingly enough, this place is called Confusion Room. |

The next room is just a staircase. At the top is a door. And through the door…
Pride turns around. Pride walks forward. Oh, just the usual. Jack in, delete your navi, jack out, watch cut scenes, and call it a day. Oh. The screen starts to shake. Because something like that lets him ignore gravity. Seriously, darts champion here. |

So yeah, same dungeon design. Castle Computer 4’s BMDs held a Long Sword L, a Full Energy, a Bug Frag, and I actually got a Shadow1 R chip from a Shadow virus here, and it turns out that while the chip is active your charge shot turns into a Step Sword. Like with the Mother Computer, the last jack-in has more than one area. Castle Computer 5’s BMDs held another Full Energy, a Recover 120 U, and an Invis2 Q. Knightman doesn’t have an answer to this. |

I hope he’s being sarcastic. Knightman is silent for a bit. As you can see, Knightman has Stone Body. All non-breaking attacks only do one dama- Oh wow, punched Rock Cubes count as breaking? Eh, moving on. Knightman will not attack while he’s in Stone Body form, so when he drops it it’s your cue to move. Knightman’s main attack is Kingdom Crusher. It’s pretty much exactly what it looks like, a shot down the row. If it hits you, you’ll be pushed back one panel. If you move back into his row shortly after dodging, he’ll fire again. After a Kingdom Crusher, Knightman will shoot his ball up into the air and… hit the ceiling or something. This makes three rocks fall. This will happen up to three times. Every now and then, Knightman will jump forward. This, as you can see, cracks every panel on the screen. This makes things a lot more difficult. His final move is his signature Royal Wrecking Ball. This will hit every panel around him. He only uses this move of you’re standing right next to him though, and that shouldn’t really happen, so you won’t see this too often. |

The funny thing here is that once again an Aqua Style will absolutely wreck a boss. As I mentioned earlier, if you’re still in Knightman’s row after he misses with a Kingdom Crusher, he’ll fire again. So if you have a fast attack, you can loop him. As always, Bubbler counts as fast.
Oh, and none of his attacks count as Swords, so Shadow makes you totally immune while it’s up. Anyways, reset time. Megaman alerts Lan that he’s turning off the trap. Lan tells him to go for it. The room stops shaking. The room starts shaking again. So apparently instead of just opening the floor like she said earlier, this trap is going to destroy the castle… or something. Lan turns to leave, but before he starts moving No, we never get an explanation for this, but I like to think Knightman did it. The room stops shaking. Apparently Pride deactivated it on the way down…? What the- why is Douche getting praised?! Lan asks if Raoul is alright. It would’ve been faster if it weren’t for a certain somebody. |

Did Lan just say the d-word? Why would Lan want to? Trying to kill the people trying to save the Net to get revenge for your country falling behind in Net research is pretty stupid. Just saying. Lan agrees. They had better be together. And I mean that in an entirely non-shipping related way. |

There! Douche admits it! Lan is his friend, and he attacked him anyways! So what, you didn’t have any back-up data left at all? I think you’re totally missing the point of back-ups. Douche can not comprehend what it is like to not be a douche. *groan* Douche strolls off. Hahaha it’s a pun cause Chaud means hot in French hahaha. Time skip! Lan and Megaman decide to start heading over to the airport. But first, I need to go check something. Yup. *reset* Looks like both of them are ready. Snakeman V2 has a new low health move. He’ll appear in one of the holes and shoot his head out at you. The move is easy to dodge though. Aside from a few mishaps with the snakes, that went well. Snakeman’s chip is just his desperation attack. However, if there are any holes on your side of the field he’ll also summon snakes out of them that will fly towards enemies. Gah. Alright, time to address an earlier question. Excuse me while I turn on delete enemies with select. A bunch of random encounters later… Yeah, that’s what it looks like. Anyways, I just have 120 battles to go… screw it, I’m turning on 1 battle for a style. What the- …Okay, hacking wasn’t the best idea. Let’s just… try that again. You can never get the same Style twice after all. There we go. |

Yuichiro joins the conversation. Oh, if you’re wondering, when I got Wood Custom Megaman was marveling about how peaceful and content he felt. Yuichiro tells us Megaman will have to overwrite a style. |

I hope this doesn’t cause any problems later on in the game… I think you can tell the difference. Let’s do this. Heat’s actually pretty useful against Thunderman. Gut’s Super Armor also really helped my rank. Thunderman’s chip attacks the third column in front of you with lightning bolts. All that grinding earlier left me with a lot of chips. Let’s use them. |

Wow, R coded chip on the first try. The other chips I got were a Wrecker O, and a Tree Bomb2 N. Okay, one last thing to do. In this battle, the rocks fall a lot faster. And as I found out, you can’t fit a Rock Cube + Punch into the Kingdom Crusher loop anymore (or at least not easily). Knightman’s chip is just Royal Wrecking Ball. And with that we are done. As with last time, you can vote on if I should change my second style. Next time: Sheer insanity. Current Folder Bubbler R x4 Tree Bomb R x2 Wide Sword * x3 Fire Blade R x4 Guts Punch B Cold Punch B x3 Yo-Yo1 R Area Grab R - REGULAR Rock Cube * x3 Shadow R Attack +10 * x5 Attack +30 * Roll V2 R Total codes (not counting * code): 2 |

In that case, go with what you like. You already have the best style, after all. |

I always liked Knight Man's design in the classic series. Here, though, it's one of those redesigns I can't stand. (Stone Man and Snake Man are others)
When Knight Man's brought into that whole Rockman Online malarky I hope they stick more to his classic design than his BN one (which seems to be happening with the others anyway so I guess I got nothing to worry about). |

So it looks like I'm going with Heat Shield...? Well, voting ends at 8 PM.
Anyways, I'd like to ask you guys something. Battle Network 2 has 10 special chips you can only acquire through versus netbattling once you get three stars. Should I just get them now (I have to hack them in anyways since my emulator can't link) or after I get three stars? |

After you get 3 stars.
Also, why didn't Princess Pride just take Lan's PET and smash it to bits, effectively killing Mega Man? Or if she wanted to be nice and less violent, I dunno, she could have taken the wireless navigator out and turned the damn PET off. |

Also, there's a gap in the floor between the two from the looks of it, so unless Pride is a good distance jumper she couldn't have gotten to Lan's PET. |

I vote hack them now... Dang other votings over

Well like those two pictures imply, Pride wanted some challenge.
More likely, she wanted to be stopped, since that's the only way to link her characterization in BN2 to her much nicer BN5 personality. |

There we go. Alright, before I leave Netopia there is some miscellaneous stuff left. If I return to Netopia Castle’s meeting room and speak with the main Official, we’ll get a gift. Also… Lan left the Wireless there. Now that I’ve got the ONBA code, I can finally show off Program Advances. True, I could have done it earlier, but there’s a reason I waited for so long. This was literally my first random encounter in Den 1. If you put in certain combinations of chips in the right order, they can fuse and become a Program Advance. There are two kinds of Program Advances (PA for short). The first kind is formed by using the same chip three times, just with three codes that are in alphabetical order. This results in Zeta or Omega Advances, which make Megaman invincible and give him infinite use of the chip for a short time. For example, if I selected Cannon A, Cannon B, and Cannon C, I’d get Zeta Cannon 1, which would give me infinite use of the Cannon chip for about 4 or 5 seconds. The second kind, Special Advance, require entirely different chips in the same code. As you can see above, Wind *, Fan *, and any Gateman chip result in the Gater PA. These PAs are usually more powerful, and at the very least are more spectacular looking. But Gater, the Program Advance I just assembled, is special. Gater is the most broken Program Advance in the entire series. Gater’s damage is dependent on the amount of enemies. If there are three, everything on the screen takes 300 damage (enough to kill just about anything). If there are two, one will take 600 damage and the other 300. And if there’s one, that unlucky sap will take 900 damage. This is enough to destroy or cripple almost all of the bosses. And this is before boosting. A single Attack +10 will boost the total damage by 90. I put on an Attack +30 and an Attack +10. I did 1260 damage to Airman V3. Ah, sweet revenge. Anyways, what’s truly makes Gater the best Program Advance in the entire series is its ease of obtaining. Unlike its closest competitor (Zeta Cannon in Network Transmission), once you reach the Netopia section the components basically fall into your lap: you get Gateman for getting Folder 2, and Wind * and Fan * are sold by Numberman. Oh yeah, once you do a PA the combination will be stored in the PA memo. |

Alright, moving on.
Newsflash Douche, you have to wait for planes to take off. Meh? Wow, that was fast. …Maybe I shouldn’t have switched to Heat Shield. Anyways, as you can see in Shield Style you start off with a 10 HP barrier. Pressing < + B also gives you a Shield. This will nullify all non-breaking attacks and can be spammed infinitely to block pretty much anything. Hard on the fingers though. Now excuse me while I reset and switch to Aqua Custom. Took a couple of resets to get a no damage run, but the overall battle itself is still very easy with an Aqua style. Anyways, BN2 is where the Protoman chip gained its absurd brokenness. When used, Protoman will warp in front of every enemy with an empty panel before it and swing a 120 damage Wide Sword. This trivializes random encounters. Sadly, unlike in BN6 it can’t be set as a Regular chip. Uh-oh. |

With that, Lan passes through. This time, no alarm is set off. Methinks this is the next villain. This poor guy has to care for three kids while dealing with indigestion. What’s this? Another custom sprite? …Overreaction much? This would be an understatement if it weren’t Lan. Lan is so overly positive it’s almost sickening. |

You will. And you’ll be mugged again. Ah, it’s really great of the game to just let us skip between continents like this. Dex asks Mayl if there’s something wrong with her. Lan asks why Mayl looks so glum. Mayl rushes up. |

Lan shakes his head a bit and wonders where he is. This right here is like the only time in the entire series Lan is shown to have romantic feelings for Mayl. And honestly, you could still take it as him just wanting to be friends. Megaman assures Lan he was kidding, and asks if he’s fully awake yet. Lan confirms and asks for the time. The time here doesn't really make any sense. The plane is supposed to land at 7:45 AM, but it's already 11:30 AM. Presumably, it was supposed to land at 7:45 PM but they messed up again. I guess Megaman is curious. |

Megaman replies that if they ask really nicely, they’re sure to get in. For some random reason, if we talk to the guy sitting next to Lan he gives us a Repair L after thanking Lan for speaking to him. No, really? Oh. Anyways, the guy next to her is asleep. I don’t think things work that way. The first one is pretty much the only valid reason in my book. Well that’s a very easy dream to accomplish. Damn it, this plane is so getting hijacked. We can jack in to the TV at the back. Inside is a Bug Frag. Jeez, how many do I have right now? Anyways, the next room is Business class. Apparently the Officials couldn’t be bothered to pay for anything other than Economy. |
