The thing about Alpha is that it's basically anti-Navi chips.
The barriers protecting its core can be destroyed by Navi Chips, yes, but only one at a time. Even if you used a fully boosted Bubbleman V4, all you'd do is break one barrier. Of course if you break the barriers with your buster you're good to go. Quote:

I'll admit I usually just skip through Z3's cutscenes (because seriously, they get old, fast), but I'm still pretty sure Omega's armor never opened up to expose a core or anything. Even when it absorbed the Dark Elf, it just... absorbed it.
Then there's the tiny little fact that technically Omega is Zero original body. The armor is just that: armor. |

I’ve pretty much been ignoring this LP in favor of Pokemon Black. I apologize.
Lan gasps. Lan asks Megaman where they are. Megaman sighs that after a few hours, the two of them will just be bits of junk data. Lan asks if there’s any way they can escape. |

Hub adds that he will always be with Lan in spirit. Lan continues to protest that he can’t abandon Hub. |

Dex asks if Lan is okay. He then alerts Tora and Chaud that Lan is awake.
Lan pulls out his PET and desperately calls for Megaman to answer him. Psst. Chaud. When a guy is obviously mourning, don’t congratulate them. Damn it Tora, you should have more tact than that. That makes no sense whatsoev- oh, right, Wily design. |

The island begins to shake and the lab starts to explode. The party walks back to the boat. No, seriously, they walk. Dex, Chaud, and Tora board the boat, but Lan stops to look back. Lan boards the boat. Since Lan went to sleep after he dealt with the tanks, “WWW’s attack” must refer to some off-screen event. It’s not really a war if it’s the world against five people, seven navis, and one super program. |

Yai and Mayl walk over. Yai explains that according to SciLab, all worldwide computer malfunctions have stopped. Yai continues that a lot of people were worried about Lan and co, and that they’re waiting at the DNN Studio. She adds that Chisao is there too. Tora urges Lan, Dex, and Chaud to get going. Dex rushes off while Tora returns to the boat. The four remaining people walk off the dock. Chisao runs up and leaps into Dex’s arms. |

No really. In the background, Chaud turns to his father. Let’s pretend this is Chaud cracking up with emotion, not a typo. You saw him stop Sunayama. Man, Chaud’s family is really screwed up. |

Chaud’s father walks away. After he leaves the screen, Lan skates up to Chaud. Really? All that comes to mind is Protoman’s deletion of Drillman, who was already in the process of being deleted. Chaud replies that he did nothing. That’s true, but Cossak, Tora, and Dex did much more to help than Chaud, who basically just stood around until Megaman beat Drillman. Lan states that he’s sure Megaman would thank Chaud as well. Lan’s confused by the question. I guess it’s time for MegamanX.exe. A “bit inconvenient”? Literally all of the BNverse’s life is structured around having a Navi. You’re supposed to. Pulse Transmission Systems were banned for a reason, so Net Navis are the only way you’ll ever be able to use the Net. I realize why Lan is doing this and I do respect him for it. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s really, really stupid. Chaud sighs that he shouldn’t have asked that question. Lan tells him not to worry about it. What, so all the times Megaman beat Protoman in BN1, BN2, and Network Transmission don’t count? Next Halloween, when Lan dresses up as Megaman, Chaud is going to jump him disguised as Protoman. |

Lan turns and looks at Mayl and Yai while Chaud reminds him to not keep a lady waiting. Lan’s response to this idiom? I mean, Lan does it all the time. Sidequests and random encounters aren‘t going to finish themselves. Lan skates over to Mayl and Yai. Yai jumps in anger and screeches that Lan doesn’t understand women at all. Yai explains that the entire time Lan was at Castle Wily, Mayl was at the docks worrying. And once again, Lan says something that can be interpreted as romantic. Mayl begins to cry. |

Tora approaches Lan. Tora notes Cossak will be in the hospital for a while. Lan’s just relieved to hear that Cossak is okay. Tora laughs. Lan asks where. No, you won’t, because BN4 totally cut any hanging plot threads BN3 had because BN4 really sucks. |

Tora walks off. Lan moves to his parents. Well, this is quite the awkward situation. Yuichiro notices that something‘s wrong and asks if Lan isn‘t feeling well. |

Man, the translators really dropped the ball at the end. Hub was fine with it at the end of BN1. I’m pretty sure Lan didn’t really distinguish between the two names. Anyways, Lan is not having any of this self-blame bullshit. |

Lan adds that he loved just being with Megaman as well. And now for a complete change of subject. Yuichiro answers that the Officials are on their way to Castle Wily. That’s a more relevant subject change. Yuichiro notes he’ll have to take it back to SciLab to read it. Yuichiro apologizes for never telling Lan. Lan responds that it’s okay, because if he had known he wouldn’t have been able to delete Alpha. |

Lan skates off. The scene changes to the dock. I find it amazing that these otherwise ridiculous normal promises are actually very meaningful in this case. |

Lan turns around to see all of his friends at the other side of the dock.
I guess Chaud used up all of his inspirational speeches for the day. Sean reminds Lan that the only reason he recovered from the Gospel incident was because Lan became his friend. Mamoru adds that the only reason he’s out of the hospital is because Lan encouraged him to take the surgery. “Shun“? Damn it translators, can’t you at least stay consistent? Dex urges Lan to return to ACDC. Lan enthusiastically agrees. So apparently the island exploding then sinking did not harm either the computers on the island or the completely helpless bodies of the WWW. |

Once again, I’ll leave it you guys to figure out what’s happening in the credits sequence. |

The scene shifts to Lan, who’s running around his room. Lan runs around a bit more. Lan walks to his bed as the screen fades to black. After a bit of silence, Lan begins to snore. |

First time I beat the game I was shocked at what happened. This was after 4 came out. With the way Lan was acting I almost believed they really did kill Megaman off.
Great game. Now I just need to get the Mistman chips and get them into Blue. I love my Plantman Folder and want to use it for the Omega Navies. |

It's kind of ambiguous what exactly happened to Megaman. As far as I can tell, what happened was that Tadashi knew his room was separate from Alpha, so the point of the GramNote was to tell his son that he was still alive. However, when he detected that Hub sacrificed himself, he quickly moved Hub's data to his safe room, in the process deleting himself to clear up enough space for the uncompressed soul of Hub.
I assume Tadashi deleted himself because he doesn't show up in the future games, though that could just be another plot thread dropped between BN3 and BN4, Anyways, the question is what exactly Hub did when he overloaded himself. Did he go all Classic Megaman and burst into fragments of data to both blow a hole in Alpha and propel Lan to the original pulse in point? Or did he just fire all of his energy at Alpha, use what he had left to chuck Lan at the target, then just fall apart inside Alpha? The first possibility means that Hub actually died, the second means that he didn't. Yes, I've thought way too much about this. |

Wow, that...wow. That's quite an ending. [Who's Shun supposed to be, again?]
Wait. How did the GramNote get out unscathed? I mean, using Tadashi's "safezone" to save Hub was obvious, but ...this is back to bugging me. Rather like Wily missing out on things that...well, OK, it's in the vein of that old joke about how Wily doesn't really get to design levels because they'd be unwinnable. (A port that just snapped off any jack fed into it would be a simple one.) Last edited by eternaljwh; 04-13-2011 at 05:16 AM. Reason: increasing content |

In the Japanese version, Sean's name was Shun.
The translators just forgot that all of the villains of Battle Network 2 but Arashi got new first names, Sean included. As for GramNote, it was saved directly to the PET, so it got out okay. |
