Oh, that bug? I discussed it earlier in the thread and proved it to be false or at the very least fixed in the translation.

Basically, the bug revolved around how the game guarantees what your first soul will be: Aqua in BM, Guts in RS. The rumor claimed that if you transferred in navis from the other version before you got that soul, the game would be unable to guarantee that you'd get Aqua/Guts and crash so spectacularly you wouldn't even be able to get past the title screen.

I tried it out back at the beginning, and found that the game didn't care. ...Unless I was supposed to be so freakishly lucky that Aquaman's scenario was the one chosen for replacement, anyways.

What happened here was terrible luck.

Yup, no new scenarios. It's all on you Alpha Werewolf.

Incidentally, I found out what happens when you "lose" the Cooking Duel.

Wait, not only is there a random tedious minigame, but it has no influence on anything at all? I wasn't expecting that.

Or do you get a reward above plot progression for doing well?

The only "reward" is plot progression.

This is the cooking duel again, so let's talk about something else.

Remember how I said that the game is now going to be trivial until Duo? Well, I wasn't kidding around; But there's a problem. See, by this point, the viruses are too strong for my normal folder to delete efficiently, so I am forced to use DarkChips for that. But that's not the problem. You see, it seems that BN4's odds of running away are directly tied to your maximum HP - you need higher HP to run away from stronger enemies.

You can probably see where this is going.

Incapable of running away and sporting a terrible folder, I am currently forced to darkchip my way through battles, reducing my HP even FURTHER. This makes the entire game even more of a slog.

Oh, wow, Woodman. Great.

However! While playing this scenario, I forgot to use a no random encounters code... And noticed that if you try to move for a while after the crippling lag starts up (with major turboing, mind) the lag ends and you can continue as you please. I was very happy.

Woodman was very trivial, natch.

Next time: One of the awesomer navis in BN4.

Megaman assumes Windman will use wind against them, and Lan then wonders what his attack will be like.

The lady says that she overheard Lan saying ‘Megaman’, and introduces herself as Windman’s operator, Lilly. Lan introduces himself and Megaman.

Lilly tells Windman to say hi too.

I have to assume that was supposed to be Megaman explaining. Incidentally, what’s the real-world counterpart to Scissor Island? New Zealand?

Anyway, Lilly explains that Windman is known as a god of the wind on Scissor Island, and that she was born there. She also tells Lan that she’s a priestess of Windman.

Megaman is impressed that their next opponent is a god.

Lilly explains that Windman is too strong for anybody to control, and that the Grass Flute is the only way to keep him in check. Lan, Megaman and Lilly exchange some more friendly banter (“This’ll be a great match”), and Lan leaves.

Lilly is surprised that Lan is so relaxed before the match.

Lilly takes a sip from the bottle she carries around her neck (I seem to lack a screenshot of this).

Back outside, Lan tells Megaman he’s hungry, and the two of them decide to go back home and have Lan’s mom cook something up since there’s some time before the match.

Megaman says the scream came from MelSquare.

Lan says it’s a virus.

Incidentally, you can talk to Lilly once the cutscene ends:

We are not amused.

The rest of the ride is just going through the path we went through in the Castillo scenario, but whenever we come to one of the stops the navi asks us if we want to get off the raft. This is identical in all the other robots, by the way.

#
<Insert easy fight>

Lan tells Lilly she’s welcome and leaves. Lilly is disappointed that her strategy failed – she thought she could weaken Megaman a little (which she technichally did – by the 1 Max HP I used up in that battle).

The game throws you back into the entrance screen of Castillo, and going back to MelSquare reveals no sign of Lilly anywhere.

Lan starts texting, which is odd since shouldn‘t Megaman do that?

Regardless…

My captures were a little awkward here; Lilly comes running at Lan, bumps into him, and the PET falls into the fountain.

…What? Assuming the PET’s speaker is loud enough for Lan to hear Megaman from there, why the hell would there be a *glub* sound?

The screen blacks out.

(That wasn't supposed to be a cliffhanger, I just had to end the post due to the image limit)

Megaman says he’s fine, and then says that he couldn’t see the person who slammed into Lan because it was too fast.

Yeah, Lilly was running so fast that even a computer couldn’t keep up.

Nearby – at the exit of Castillo – Lilly is annoyed that she was foiled again.

Lilly says that Megaman will try to stop Windman, but he’ll get blown awaya with no chance of recovery.

Remember, kids: Alcohol will turn you into a walking, talking cliché supervillain!

Also, Lilly has magically disappeared without Lan noticing.

Note that Lilly was standing a few steps away from this man, laughing madly, just a few moments ago.

Lan askas where’s lunch, and when his mom is confused he remembers that he hasn’t finished sending that message to her. Regardless, she makes him something to eat – and after he’s done eating, someone rings the doorbell.

Lilly says she asked the ‘tournament people’, and apologises for bugging Lan – but since she came all the way from Scissor Island, he’s the only person she can rely on. Lan asks what happened, and Lilly explains that Windman’s seal has been undone and he’s gone crazy.

Lilly says she’s the only one who can undo the seal, so it must have been her – but she can’t remember doing it.

Lan asks her about when he saved her in MelSquare, but she doesn’t know what he means. Lan then asks what’s going on, and Lilly explains that Windman has lost control of his powers and now the whole Park area’s a big storm.

Gee, would’ve been helpful during those last two incidents when the entire net was on fire!

Anyway, Lilly says the only way to regain control of Windman is to blow the Grass Flute.

Completely untrue, of course. And can’t she just ask the Castillo administration to broadcast it over the entire Park area?

Anyway, Lan says that there’s a way to stop Windman: Megaman will use the Grass Flute. Lilly agrees and leaves. Let’s see what Lan’s mother has to say about the Park net being ON FIREONE BIG TORNADO, shall we?

…That’s just bizzare.

Moving on to Park area!

We are then treated to a poor Mr. Program…

Getting blown away by the mini-tornado. This introduces the central gimmick of this scenario: Touching one of the (moving) mini-tornados will send Megaman to the beginning of the current area.

Let’s skip to Park3.

I haven’t had the chance to say it before, but man is Windman awesome. His entire design just screams badass.

Megaman blows the Grass Flute.

Megaman tells Windman that he turned the area into a big storm, so Lilly asked him to stop him.

Windman is annoyed because he lost control of himself and his powers.

He thanks Megaman and Lan for saving him. Lan tells him not to worry – the match is about to start.

Moving right along to Castillo:

Lilly thanks Lan for helping her. Lan says it’s no problem and returns the Grass Flute, then urges her to go into the stadium. He then gives her a short pep talk because she’s nervous, and leaves for the stadium.

And for the first time in any scenario I remember, Lan is not only the first person in the stadium, and not late, but also isn’t introduced.

Lilly says she’ll tear Lan apart.

Lan then asks if Lilly’s drunk, and immediately infers that she must have lost her memories because she was drunk. That’s right: In the BNverse, Sake is so strong that it’ll not only get you completely drunk in one sip, it’ll also be enough to make you completely forget everything, and there aren’t any hangovers.

Lilly tells us to get this show on the road.

When else would she be ready to fight?

Alright, alright.

Quote:
Announcer:

Lilly

Battle routine, set!

Megaman: Execute!

Windman: In the name of he who rules the winds!

Let’s go, Megaman!
versus Windman

Megaman asks Windman if he’s okay, and Windman says he’s fine.

(I always found this odd, by the way. Why is it that Megaman being deleted is game over, but Megaman deleting any other navi doesn’t seem to do much to them?)

Lan says Lilly did such a great job, she didn’t seem drunk.

She immediately snaps out of, uh, being drunk. Apparently the length of the super-sake drunkness can be anywhere from a few hours to a few minutes.
Lilly is confused, and Lan tells her that the drink in her gourd is rice wine. Lilly understands that’s why she keeps losing her memories.

Yes, master the art of not getting drunk before you figure out you’re not drinking water.

Lilly then says she remembers a little of the battle, and that it was really, really fun.

You know, I should be poking fun at this mistake, but I can’t bring myself to do it; Funner should totally be a word.

Lilly says that Windman and she will practice, and next time they’ll beat Lan. She leaves.

And remember, kids: Don’t drink!

Windsoul has a lot of abilities, so let's go.

For starters, activating WindSoul causes a NorthWind effect - all of the enemy's barriers and auras are removed.
While Windsoul is active, you have Floatshoes and Airshoes - panels have no effect on you (poison, for example) and you can walk on holes, basically. As long as the soul is active, wind will blow towards your side of the field on your opponent's side. Additionally, wind chips will cause 10 extra damage - useful for multihitters such as Tornado.
Your normal shot becomes an Airshot, which allows you to (for example) kill LaserMan by abusing the stun-time on the airshot (I've done it myself). Your chargeshot becomes a WindRack - widesword that blows enemies away.

In conclusion: One of the best souls in the games.

You know, now I've seen "What a polite young man she was!", it's probably my favourite BN4 line ever, and probably beats out a whole load of other games too (although not in a good way). Also, the scenario is significantly less ridiculous than usual. I think I like it.

You don't find anything odd about a program being worshipped as a God?

Wind Soul is awesome, but the Windman fight is a complete bitch. That damned bird swarm has killed me so many times, especially since Windman Omega is basically an endless Warioware microgame on crack. And if you screw up at all, 200 damage.

Well, that was quite the week. Okay, back to the BN LP. Where was I again?

Bwuh? I’m still at the Hawk Tournament? Who am I fighting, I don’t even remember.

Huh.

Battle Against Roll Alpha

(Even if I haven’t played the game in two weeks, I’m still ashamed I got hit)

Anyways, you know how I faced Numberman this playthrough, and not Aquaman, and how technically Megaman has never met Aquaman?

BN4 doesn’t give a shit, so I still have to fight Aquaman DS.

I still don’t understand why the game puts a Navi Customizer program as a second playthrough BMD in a hidden jack in area (the sink at Den Dome). It’s a really big dick move to 100% completionists.

Forgot to mention this guy last playthrough, but I’m pretty sure he doesn’t even do anything until the third playthrough so whatever.

At the bottom of Town 3, near Roll’s ghost data, is this guy. Talking to him gets me the Humor program, which has an amusingly game breaking Navi Customizer bug but is otherwise not that notable.

Anyways, I actually forgot to save state before the Roll Beta fight, so when I started with a bad hand and chose to restart, I got sent back to where I last saved state, ACDC 2.

Guess what happened after I took two steps.

Thankfully, my folder and buster are no longer complete crap

So I can win without Airshoes, but damn if it isn’t painful.

I got hit by Roll Arrow twice, since at Beta and beyond it starts moving really fast. This is a bad thing when you’re trying to input Sonic Boom for Variable Sword.

Inside here is Spin Yellow, my first new Spin Color in a very long time.

With it, I can rearrange my Navi Customizer at last. Custom 1 is thrown out for Custom 2, and I squeeze in another HP +50.

Hahahaha this game.

Aside from the above image, I finished the Blue Moon preliminaries extremely easily. Time to explore the Net. And by that, I mean time to assemble the Cyber Slider, go through the Undernet, clear the Boktai scenario, and then explore the Ne-

God damn it.

Ass kept dodging my attacks at the last second.

What? You didn’t want to spend 4000 Z last playthrough just for a Lance chip? Well too bad, you have to if you want to get this (terrible) Mega chip.

I picked this up in an Undernet GMD. In Red Sun, it’s probably one of the best chips in the game, seeing as how it’s essentially a free Roll Soul at no cost to your folder’s fluidity. However, it’s not that good in Blue Moon since 120 HP quickly becomes very meaningless. Good enough for now, at least.

After a playthrough and three-fourths of Bug Frag collecting, and I finally have enough for this.

Too bad it’s completely fucking pointless. It’s supposed to be used for PvP matches, but even there it’s not that great. The Red Sun 100 Bug Frag Giga chip, naturally, is far superior and is one of the main Omega Navi S-Ranking strategies.

GOD DAMN IT.

Protoman Omega is faster than ever, and every attack (which still hit the second he starts swinging instead of during the slash) he does deals 200 damage. He also at some point became a ninja, so he can create after images to take a hit for him while he teleports behind you for a back attack. The Blinder trick still works, but Protoman Omega moves so spastically it’s very hard to actually hit him with anything besides Sonic Booms.

I got a Game Over, but at least it’s over.

Or not. I got another game over because somehow Protoman can block the light of Gun De Sol EX.

SON OF A BITCH

JUST DIE

Ah, catharsis.

ARGH (another Game Over)

Finally. Except not really since the very next encounter was a double Cirkill fight on ice that led to my death when Megaman couldn’t run away for two turns straight. Loading a save state brought me all the way back to Under 2. Thankfully, the last trip to Under 6 was uneventful.

Alright, it’s finally time to finish the Boktai sidequest-

…Ffffffffff-

Uuuuuuuu-

Cccccccc-

Kkkkkkk!

Whew, got that out of my system.

I don’t get a Gun De Sol 3 this time, but at least I get this. Time to run around the Net.

Guess I should have seen this coming.

At least Videoman Omega is a joke.

*about five minutes later*

Okay, finally done opening up the Nebula Gates. Who’s my opponent for the first round of the Blue Moon tournament?

Fuck.

Next time: I don't know.

Current Folder

Heat Shot C x3
Wide Shot 1 C x3
Twin Fang 1 C x3
Magnet Bolt 1 C x4
Variable Sword V x4
Air Hockey 1 F x2
Air Hockey 3 V
Blinder *
Invisible * x2 - REGULAR
Recover 120 *
Attack +10 * x3

This LP is still alive, but I can only work on it during the weekends (and currently I'm working on the next Golden Sun Dark Dawn update, which is huge).

Right now I'm waiting for Alpha Werewolf to be able to use the internet again.

Speakingly, you guys do know I'm still doing the 4.5 LP, right? Suggest a character already.

You know what sucks? Going through Searchman's scenario.

You know what sucks even more?

That.

I'd show the battle against SearchMan Alpha, but it was honestly pretty lame. My current folder is not at all suited towards battling him, so the fight just dragged on. Anyways, now ACDC 1, ACDC 2, Town 1, Town 3, eventually Town 4, Park 1, Park 3, Sharo, Under 1, and Under 5 all have Omega navis to kill me with. Yay~

Next time: Everything I know about BN4's multiple playthrough gimmick is wrong. Kind of.

I demand (or at least, politely ask) that you and AlphaWerewolf do some online battling once this LP is over, assuming that you can get it to work, of course. It'd be interesting to see, and it'd help show why certain souls are better than others (bonus points for recording two seperate videos from each of your perspectives).

I know that it's at least possible (I've done it with BN5 before), but it's a real hassle. And to be honest, it would be kind of sort of really unbalanced, since Alpha's got Dark Soul to ruin my day with. There are ways around that, of course, but none of them are in my folder and probably never will be in the amount necessary without gratuitous amounts of hacking.

As for Souls... well, for one Alpha can't use any, and for two I don't use any of BM's souls. So yeah.
