No it wasn't. Sierra really should have known better by that point.

I'd like to make that a part of it, yeah. But there are some complications with both. Golems cost a lot of money and take a lot of time to make and are generally more complicated than I'd be able to cover in a Let's Play thread. I guess I can ask which pieces of equipment to slam together for its attacks, without actually covering any details about why things happen the way they happen. And pets will be unavailable until I lay down a place that has that pet type. Even then, the land placement could make it so some pets are impossible/improbable to get.

It's not really an issue if everyone agrees that I should just have a Rabite or a Golem that just hangs out and throws rocket punches, though. That probably won't be far from what happens, really. I'm probably just overthinking this.

tl;dr: Yes, the audience can choose pets and Golems.

Spoony: I imagined it more like, "I have these pets available. What should I get?" You can have more than one, and it doesn't matter until the stable is unlocked anyway. I don't see it as a prep-question, just something to ask when you get to that point.

Golems.. I never even use, just a pet (succubus!) or solo. Golem could just be a thing you build on your own.

Default Mana game = excitement

I bought this when it first game out (for the PSX right?) this is the one where you build the world as you get items right? I never was able to get too far into it (I don't remember why) I'm looking forward to this, maybe I can dig out my copy from where ever it is (I think my folk's home) and try again

Yeah, I wasn't really thinking about it prep-question like. The "I can catch these pets right now. Which one should I get?" way is probably how I'll end up handling it. Though it wouldn't hurt to mention the rarer, more awesome monsters (Succubus, etc) and steer the game slightly towards getting the proper mana levels for those guys if there's any interest.

And Golems are awesome. The first time I played the game, I used a Golem that just walked around and exploded periodically.

I never got the hang of Golems. But cool monsters... the Succubus, Goblin and Shadow Zero are pretty awesome. Well, they look awesome, and that's really all that matters in LoM.

In LoM, I got myself a miniature T-Rex and named it Brooklyn. He and I did great things.

Another vote for you to hop in with the LoM LP, Spoony.

Thanks. I always wanted a dog named Brooklyn. Naturally, when I finally got a dog I named him Sam.

I was not a fan of 3, mostly because of the stupid spells. Nothing was more boring than typing half the manual into the game

Okay, typing in a paragraph per spell was annoying, but the general mechanic behind putting together the ingredients for spells and then using them was really cool.

Also, the whole timed appearances of the wizard added a TON of tension. Aside from the spells, though, the thing I didn't like was that a lot of the elements were random - the Eagle's Feather, in particular, seemed like it had a terrible drop rate.

KQV is more important for its place in gaming history as one of the first big CD titles than its gameplay. KQVI fixed everything wrong with it, of course, but y'all knew that.

Which means I had an even worse experience by playing the floppy version. At least I didn't play the NES or SMS versions. I've long had an idea for a gamespite article on NES KQV that consists of one sentence: King's Quest V wasn't a very good game and the NES port made it even worse.

With those version you didn't actually have to "listen" to Cedric high pitched whiny voice through-out the game! I hated that bird!

I just enjoyed 5 for the varied environments and puzzles. -.- I think it's safe to say that there's just going to be disagreement on those games.. which is okay, since that's not what this thread is for anyway. =p

Will keep an eye out to see if anyone else chimes in for QFG interest.

I'll take the enire Mega Man NES library (1-6), if no one has any objections. I've already started screenshotting 1, and am ready to post for that one, at least.

Hey guys, it's been almost a month since I did FF1 and I think I'm about ready for another go. I've got a few prospects lined up. I'm going to wait for a couple of the current ones to finish up before I put my ideas out there, but for now just throw me on the list as a vague and nebulous "something".

Well some of us were trying to wait for some of you more long-winded types to finish up your goddamn games.

I know FyreLuigi and dosboot were ready to go a few pages back. I don't think they've said anything since then.

Now that the LPs are in their own forum, I don't think there's any reason to really hold back. They're not cluttering up other conversation anymore, and we've already shown that we can maintain interest in a great many of them at once. As for those old grumps who are all "well I can only read one or two", well, their loss.

I say full speed ahead.

And I say it specifically to Red Hedgehog. =)

That's something I was wondering, actually. You managed at least two updates a day, and not just playing and screencapping, but uploading and writing, too. On the other hand, I'm out of the house from 8AM to 10PM on weekdays, so my updates would be sparse to say the least. I know how I'd like to approach the game, but what's the "acceptable" update frequency for the forum's readership?

Besides some people finishing up it seems others have somewhat died... So yeah, the forum needs fresh blood!
