I'd like to postpone mine a week if possible, I can wait longer so as not to upstage anyone. I had a computer meltdown followed by a switch to a new one, I need to set everything up and re-prepare now that my old materials are gone.

The Carmen Sandiego games that I played the most were the Where in the World? version that was on Prodigy, and then Where in Time? on NES (which was badass, came with a pocket encyclopedia, heh). The trouble with doing them as an LP is it's just a google-search away to solve it all, you know?

The queue on the first post is pretty much clear so I don't think you need to worry too much about your timing. Looking forward to it whenever it does come along! |

Thanks for the encouragement, I'll try to make it worthwhile.

Is there anyone scheduled to start this week, or is it open?
I've got the first couple of updates for Tombs and Treasure all wrote up and rarin' to go, you see. |

My original plans got screwed up a bit, so I'm planning on posting my intro post on Wednesday, but I think that's about it.

Due to the queue finally running dry and the sheer amount of LPs on-site, I reorganized the master thread list alphabetically to make it easier it peruse through. Is it better this way?

Aye, tis makin' it easier to sift through them to find a certain game.

Organize them like this:
1) current LPs, arranged alphabetically, 2) finished LPs, arranged alphabetically, 3) abandoned LPs, arranged alphabetically. Not sure what kind of metric you'd use to determine how long a current one needs to stagnate before it's abandoned, but this would let people at a glance see what the new stuff is. If you had infinite time I would even go so far as to ask you to arrange the current ones by most recent update, but hey you're only human. eta: Also get rid of the line about you stepping on someone's toes. This is your topic, brother; own it completely and don't apologize for it. Preface the list with something more assertive, like "HERE IS THE LIST, BITCHES", or a picture of an explosion. |

I vote for a picture of a cat. Cats are assertive.

So is there an actual formal queue these days or can people just start whenever they want? I've got an idea for one but I'm not a fan of playing in advance since it limits audience participation. I can tell you that the game I want to do isn't anywhere on the list and is much less frustrating (for me) than my previous thought of FF3.

So is there a slot open for the beginning of September? I have the first two updates of my Ys 3 stuff written up, and I should be able to start writing the Oath in Felghana stuff by August 20-something, so the beginning of September would be a good time for me to start mine, if there aren't any people who want that time slot.

The queue was set up so that there weren't eleventy billion threads at once. Parish hasn't struck us down, yea, from atop Spite Mountain, so as long as it's kept to 2-3 a week it's probably okay.
(not like most of them finish anyway, zingkapow!) |

Left the L out of my name in the Master List :3
On the SaGa Frontier thing: I finally got a copy of the game but it will be quite a while before I want to take on something in addition to my monster game. Wondering about other people's status regarding that. I still think it's a dandy idea but I won't be leading the charge anytime soon at least. Curious how others on the list (or not) feel about it by now. And I'd like to add Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen to the requests list. |

Whoops! Must've clipped the L out when I was reorganizing everything. I'll go fix it and add Ogre Battle to the list.

Also, I think I'll add a FAQ to the front page on proposing / queueing / etc so people won't have to read through 20-odd pages to find the info they're looking for. Anything in particular you guys want to add? Last edited by PapillonReel; 07-28-2008 at 03:06 PM. |

Finished could be its own group and the rest as one group? If it's been a long long time since the last update, maybe tag "Hiatus: mm/dd/yy" to the end so it's easy to see just how dead something is. But that might be work. *shrug*
With that huge list of proposed games I wonder how many of them are still interested in their picks. I haven't gone down the list to see "so-and-so hasn't been to the boards in three months!" but odds are decent that might have happened. Don't know how that should be handled, since someone who just doesn't keep up with the thread shouldn't be penalized for not knowing they have to call dibs again for instance. Some thoughts. |

I'm curious about that too, actually. I think I'll PM a few people down the line to see if they're still thinking about following through with theirs and see how it goes from there.
I reorganized the Proposed list, by the way. Oh, and I think I'll make an executive decision on the abandonment thing by saying that any Let's Plays that haven't been updated in 1 month will be listed as Hiatus. I think I'll get on the FAQ now, so anything else I should go over? |

I think the "one week" rule is a reall good one. As in: before calling a game, wait a week to see if you're still keen on the idea. This way we know it's a real thing and not just a passing fancy.

The trick is to pick really short games and have a lot of free time.

I was responding to Pappy's call for things to stick in his FAQ, not telling you to wait. Besides we already know you have it in you to finish what you start. =)

Hmm. Something crossed my mind a few days ago and it's still there so it can't be a terrible idea.
I think I'd like to do a Let's Play of SimLife around the time Spore comes out. It's obviously not the same thing (SimEarth is probably closer to Spore but that game is boring as hell) but I think it could be a fun contrast. Plus the Mario is Missing one isn't going to take me too long and is hard to make interactive so it'd be nice to do a proper Let's Play as SimLife has nothing but options. |

Mega Man Let's Play?
Hey, all!
I'd like to start a LP for Mega Man 3, but I'm still a little new to the etiquette of this scene. The Mega Man LP thread is now closed, so should I count that as all things Mega Man being said and done? I'm fine doing something outside of the series as well, as I'm really just trying to lose my Let's Play virginity. Thanks for your help. Play on (or something). |

Not all things Mega Man, just Mega Man 1 has been finished and spoken for. Check the master list to see if anyone has asked to do a game, and if not, then it's yours. Then you just wait for a convienient spot to open up and then you're golden.
Just you know, make sure you mention what game you're doing at least a week in advance to make sure you'll want to play through it for all despite our cruel jeering. Might be a good idea if it's okay to start too, since there is an informal queue set up. |

Stupid newbie question: where is the Let's Play FAQ that keeps getting mentioned?
