Yeah, I'd like to see SMRPG. Got as far as the sewers near the start and gave up.

Of course, it never got over to Europe so it's barely known. I remember a few years ago somebody sent a letter to Nintendo Official Magazine (think Power but less of a phenom) asking if it was real or a hoax.

So, in the Suikoden thread, someone had to idea to do Suikoden III as a group project. Is anyone other than myself interested in this? Also, I call Geddoe's chapters.

I would absolutely love to do the Thomas chapters. They're my favorite part of the game. Plus there's no risk of having to do the Flame Champion chapters. ;p

That's a good point. We'd have to figure out a way to not only pick who becomes the FC, but who would play Chapter 4. We can split up Chapter 5, but once the party gets back together, someone would need to finish it. It would require a lot of communication regardless.

Oh, and Shivam. If you can see this, you know you want in on this.

Also figure out who recruits who. 'Cause Geddoe doesn't need to rescruit anybody and a few strong recruits ought to be left available for Thomas to stand a chance. It's far less likely to be like Brickroad's Suikoden 1 run because practically everyone will see some party time - in the opening chapters, at least. (And Thomas wants your antiques!$!$!)

Thomas doesn't need any strong characters. I always did just fine with the ones the game gives you for his segments.

Yes but it's fuuun to use one or two that the three mains don't actually need.

Though if this board tries to go through the Suikodens in order this all is still a long ways away. (I don't know, I'll be keeping myself busy for another year at least with mine )

After a few days of playing it, I realize that Gemfire doesn't actually lend itself very well to a Lets Play, since all the screen shots consist of minute variations on the single map, and there's no story at all during the game to poke fun with. Plus the game kind of bores me, as it turns out.

Therfor, in interest of making a Letts Play that doesn't disappoint everyone who reads and creates it, I would humbly like to retract my request to do a Gemfire LP, but would like to reinstate my previous request for G.I.Joe.

That game I know is fun.

Gemfire isn't at all suited to an LP that I can think of (though I'm sure some dashing well-to-do could manage to do a good one of it somewhere just to prove me wrong), so understandable. I will clash sabres atop the mast with those who claim it isn't fun, though.
Yeah, I like it 'cause it's Romance of the Three Kingdoms on super easy mode

Wow, you just simultaniously made me feel better about my decision and killed my every intention to ever play RotTK. Good for you Sr. Pombar.

Good for you.

As anyone keeping up with GameSpite articles knows, I love me some Suikoden III. Depending on when it happens, I might be up for Chris chapters (since it looks like Geddoe and Thomas are already called, and someone in another thread suggested putting an S3 n00b on Hugo, which could be fun). Mainly depends on whether I have time whenever it comes around, and also on whether there are good emulation/capture options for PS2 on a non-Intel Mac, which is what I have at home at the moment. (Though if it's a really long way away, I might end up with a new Intel Mac by then.)

Oh shoot, that's a PS2 game isn't it? That makes things a lot more difficult... At least my one experience with emulating PS2 didn't work very well. And that'd be a lot of real-mailing a memory card around.

I'd like to start G.I.Joe on the 24th, if I may.

I'm ready right now, but I'd like to wait a couple of weeks to let some of the existing ones either finish up, or at least wind down.

The other option is playing on PS3 (well, if other people have one... I do) where you can copy memory card data around to your heart's content. But then the problem is finding a way to pipe the video into my Mac for screen caps. I don't have a TV capture card anymore, but maybe there's some nice digital solution? Dunno.

We're supposed to give start dates? Haha, I thought we just got added to the end of the line. -_-

Uh, pencil me in to start SRW:W around Sept. 14th.

Tentatively, I'd like to give Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen a shot. First I want to play through it again and refamiliarize myself with the mechanics, though.

You could do the "FIRESEAL" mission as a mini-LP to see if you want to do the whole game.

I can't imagine having the patience to do an LP of a game this slow and meticulous, even with emulator speed tweaks, but I'd love it if someone else would.

Would there be any objections to me starting a week early? I've got the first update for G.I. Joe prepped and rarin' to go, and I've played as far as I can without audience participation (which would be... up until the character select screen).

I'm ready coach! Put me in!

Well, there's an extra spot open on August 17th, and ViolentVixen's start date is mostly an estimation anyway, so it's fine by me.

I've played through the game before. To be honest, many of the semantics eluded me and I'm just blasting through it again to refresh my grasp on the mechanics. That way, if I do tackle an LP, I can make it seem like I know what I'm talking about!

I consider myself a very patient man, and I love the game (well...love-hate. Playing through has reminded me that Ogre Battle 64 is vastly superior), so I think it would be an interesting if daunting task to attempt.

I think you should reconsider.

That said, I'm toying with the idea of doing an LP of GI Joe: The Atlantis Factor. It supposedly sucks, but I loved it as a kid and would love to do it again. But hell, I still need to finish Ogre Battle 64 first so...yeah. But I might want to do that at some point in the future.

If you want to do it, I'm more than willing to pass the buck to you. Based on your Ogre Battle 64 LP, I'm sure you'd do better work than me. Or is this just cautionary? Like...get out before you tear your hair out and flush it down the toilet?

You shouldn't flush your hair down the toilet, it would probably clog the drain.

It's best to pick a fast-paced game because doing an LP is kind of like playing in slow-motion.

I've already said that I do not want to do a March of the Black Queen LP. It's yours if you want it. I'm just warning you that it's a lot of work. A lot. This is cautionary. You will spend an insane amount of time on this thing if you go through with it. If you're committed to finishing it, I'd love to see it...but it might drive you insane in the process.

Are you a bad enough dude to write an LP about a ridiculous strategy RPG for the SNES?

Honestly, I think the LP forum has gotten bloated. I think we should be realistic about how long proposed LPs would take before placing them in the queue. I'm also hoping to see a trend towards condensing the length of long games by timeskipping over swathes of the game if necessary. Even for games that I have a burning love for, I eventually tire out and stop following them.

Yeah, format for mine will probably be a pasted together composite of the entire battle map (web cookies for those who spot the multiple cursors!) when the battle starts, some run down of where the enemies spawn how our guys do, and a summary of the pre/after battle talks because there's an insane amount of text in the game and it reads on the level of decent crossover fanfics. Oh, and when we get new units I'll drop Youtube links to the attacks where possible.
