Personally that was what any computer lab classes in elementary and middle school WERE, sans any recording of them. I'm not sure how anyone could make that a fresh experience.

Well, that's kind of the joy of LPs, as far as I'm concerned. It's like going over to your friend's house after school to play Nintendo.

I have encountered Oregon Trail only through internet forum reminiscing. It'd be fairly fresh for me.

In my next LP the hero's name is going to be SHOES, just to fuck with everyone.

How about a 3 person party game and naming them SHIRT, SHOES and SERVICE?

I thought the previous suggestion of TROUSERS would be good for a more British lead character. Maybe other regional variations, too. Hakama/はかま/袴, pantalones, 長褲, hosen, pantaloni, etc.

In my game, it's possible to have your character's father join your group so I was hoping on calling the main character PANTS and his father TROUSERS. If I decide to take his father along, that is.

Hm, I thought you couldn't rename major characters in OB64?

Hosen Leberwurst, the angsty hero of the new upcoming JRPG. Meet this young man with a troubled past, which he discovers along with you. Yes, he lost his memories, his friends and his family. But he will gain one thing: true love.
Join him in EPIC SAGA QUEST STORY LXI, the new thrilling rpg in the long running series, from the makers of ZIPPER SIDE STORY and SEARCH FOR EMO. No, really, I like JRPGs. |

I'm not sure what I should name Tidus. He is very clearly a shorts-boy. Hybrid shorts-pants at most. Well, I'll put it up to a vote in my first post and he'll no doubt end up being named Pants.
I guess Oregon Trail's a popular idea, just not my thing. I see it as a duller Bard's Tale with less cast rollover. |

Um, to be honest, I don't remember. It's been a long time since I've played and I would always just keep the defaults when I played. So maybe you've got a point there. Plus, I'm toying with the idea of not naming the main PANTS, but I haven't come up with anything better yet, so...
But if I can rename him, Dano's got a point here. |

"A Family Of Pants"
Starring: Stockings, the Grandpa Trousers, the Father Tights, the Mother Shorts, the Son Skirt, the Daughter Diaper, the Baby ...and Lord Bowler, the black sheep of the family. Introducing Socks, the dog. |

More like Dr. Briefs, his daughter Bloomers, and her two children, Trunks and Bra, right?

Oh man. I totally just came up with a first name for the main character in Ogre Battle 64 that is way better than PANTS. Sorry guys, but I have to do this.

Just because you can't rename them ingame doesn't mean you can't refer to them as such.

Nor did we in the Sunny Wilds of Canada (or at least New Brunswick). We made due with Cross Country Canada, a vastly inferior truck-driving sim that taught geography.
Which I won in a matter of seconds once, since my starting location had what I needed to ship, and the destination was set as the next town over. |

All right, now that I'm done with Zelda... again... forever this time, I've started thinking of what I want to do for my third LP.
Clearly, I am a sick, sad man who deserves some variety horrible punishment. Anyhow, I was thinking of taking either Tombs & Treasure or Shadowgate, both for the NES. Both are really damn short, so getting them done wouldn't be a problem, but I'm worried about doing Lets Plays for games so incredibly constricting. It's borderline if not completely impossible to do any sequence breaking in either, and there's not really a whole lot of choices for Reader-Submissions either (I think you can change the names of the characters in T&T, but I don't recall. Plus, all the suggestions would be some variation of "Pants" anyway). Anyhow, what I'm trying to say here is: How many want to see me write at length about exploring Aztec temples and/or Haunted Castles? |

Can you include really interesting real-world commentary on Aztecs and/or haunted castles?

I was thinking of handling it like my Zelda LPs and recontextualize the stories. Of course, that may not work so well since odds are that not everybody played Shadowgate, and certainly did not play Tombs and Treasure. |
