Well, I count six LP's running. I can go now or wait a week for Pombar's spot, either way is fine. More input is appreciated.

I'm completely fine with whoever taking my spot, Reel, but it shan't be a trade - by the time I'm out of this mess, I'll have like, two weeks before I need to start holidaying and preparations for my job starting August. Which frankly isn't enough time to do the proper LP I'd planned for Rudras. It's about half as much time, in fact.
Again, I'll say that I think you should go ahead with it, dosboot. It's better to give us a few entries to catch up on slow days than have the downtimes felt all the worse, from my personal point of view, and as Reel said, the quality can speak for itself and make us work around your schedule regardless. |

I finally got Final Fantasy X: International working on emulator without crippling slowdown so if you're moving up, PapillonReel, I'd be interested in that July 6th slot.
I'm wondering if I should go ahead and name Tidus "Pants" without the intermediate step of asking suggestions. How often are people expected to post LP updates anyway? Seems like some writers are feeling guilty for not posting on a daily basis, if not more often. I suspect I'll be aiming for 2-3/week or so. |

Sure, if dosboot and Pombar are fine with it, then the July 6th spot is fine by me.
For updates, it's probably best to aim for consistancy over frequency. Just set a schedule that's best for you and go with it, and as long as it's reliable people will keep on coming back. |

What I'd like to propose is queuing the LP's in such a way that a new one starts when an old one ends instead of starting the new ones at predetermined times.

A good idea in theory, but given the amount that are abandoned or will take a really, really long time to get finished, I don't think it would work quite nicely.

Hmm... okay. But if we have 10+ concurrent LP's in July I think it should be reconsidered. I'll start mine by tomorrow.

Hey, I just thought of something: has a Let's Play ever been done of the Ancient Cave (3rd playthrough) in Lufia II? That sounds like something that would work wonderfully for the medium.
...Hmm, maybe I'll add it to the Wanted list. |

Ooooh it would. Grindy, like a Bard's Tale with premade party.

I'll take part in the Saga Frontier group project I saw on the front page if the slots are still open. I haven't been keeping up on this thread and was about to propose a Saga Frontier play through that I'd be doing all by myself, this sounds far less painful.

I'm in the "lucky" set of people who never got rid of the damn thing. I'm actually part way through a playthrough for Red to amuse the people on another forum, that's why I figured I could do it. I would start over as whoever (even if it's Red again) but now I know the ropes and know I have the patience for it.

I think the best thing to do with the archive is see what about the extant LP is terrible and improve on those failings. Unless the LP is beautiful like a Spring morning; then all you can do is gnash your teeth and dine on hate.

Works for me. I think the most fun of them is following along as they progress, even the ones that don't have much reader-input.

Yeah, seriously. As much as I find the FF8 one hell'a impressive for doing the whole thing, and pretty darn funny and entertaining throughout, I just can't sit down and read all that. It works a lot better when it's episodic, and you follow it as it goes.

Speaking as someone who has actually collected all the Iris Treasures, I'm not sure how else you could treat it. The experience is pretty mind-numbing.

I know, but I was kinda hoping for more discussion about the cave itself, as well as the adventures on the part of the LPer. Y'know, something more fleshed out than "here's the Iris Armor, now here's the Iris Pot. I must be lucky today!"

Seriously, it is TEDIOUS. Imagine re-doing your LttP LP, but instead of just hitting the highlights, writing a full update for every single screen you walk through in the game, every single time you walk through it. "This is the tenth time I've walked by Link's House. Later in the Dark World this will be the Bomb Shop. Did I mention that? I think I mentioned that. Anyway I found a guard here and killed him. He dropped a green rupee, bringing my total to 103." |

I've done the Iris Treasure hunt - I know exactly how tedious it gets . Still, it just feels like that LP's missing too much with his run; he doesn't cover the rising difficulty of the dungeon, the need for efficiency over speed, the effect of the dungeon's layout on items, the importance of choosing a party, etc. I understand you can't do that every time, but I don't see why you can't go in-depth with the first run, then go with the highlights each time afterwards. He really phoned it in on that part.
I don't know, maybe I'll give it a shot and see if it can or can't be done in person. |

If this is okay, I'd like to lay a tentative claim to Star Ocean: The Second Story, with the stipulation that I'll only go through with it if I do well on whichever character I end up doing in Saga Frontier. I hope this is fine with everyone else.

Well? Too many LP? As predicted, the RPGs are really the issue, since they can drag on forever if the writer doesn't give up on them. Looking at the queue list this is only going to get worse. It doesn't really feel like that solved anything.
Note: I don't necessarily mind the amount, since I'm not interested in most of the games anyway and don't read those, but this WAS the initial complaint (because.. I guess people either DO want to read all the games, or someone is holding a gun to the head) |
#626

Yeah, maybe a limit on how many RPGs can run at once might work. But then that's debatable when some update twice weekly, and others update daily. Or some are on a weeklong hiatus but aren't actually dead, etc etc. There're issues with either way. Can't say I have a huge problem with the amount at the moment, but it's not too overboard just yet.

i think that everyone who wants to follow a Let's Play is doing so. I know that i'm not into all the games, so it's not that much a stretch for me, and with the hypersporadic updating of these, it's not as bad as it looks initially.

You know what could be fun on the same vein as Lufia 2's Ancient Cave? Azure Dreams. It has a bit more going on in the town and stuff, at least.
A scary thought: Let's Play a Harvest Moon Game. @_@ Imagine, page after page of farm layouts and moneymaking stats! |

Only if we got to demand which crops and animals the LPer would raise. It'd be like the Oregon Trail, only with corn rather than fording.

I love how calling characters "Pants" has become a Let's Play tradition.
