Still no adapter. Hurry up, The Mail. It was supposed to be here by yesterday!

Edit: It's here! It's here!

I love the Engrishy box.

It works perfectly. It's absolutely error proof, apparently. More companies need to learn from...uh...No Company Name Given On Box Company.

Edit Edit...Edit. This is the like the fifth Edit: So I got my adapter mostly working. It took hours to get to that point, but I got there and that's the important thing. The joystick, although calibrated correctly, doesn't work that well with my emulator so I have to use the d-pad. It's a bit annoying but I'll be able to get by. Now all I need to do is fiddle around with Camtasia and make it work. Even if I can't get it to work, a screenshot-version of Starfox 64 will be a possibility. OoT is now able to move forward as well. Hurray!

The "Nobody ever shed a tear over a video-game character's death." thread has now made me want to LP Lufia II. Coincidentally, I have a major deadline for another project on November 1st, so that November 2nd spot might work out pretty well...

I mentioned this about a week-ish ago, but nobody commented on it, and the queue went unchanged, so I'mma try again:

I'm far enough into Nightshade that I can easily begin posting it and will have likely have it finished shortly thereafter (all that's left is the hunting down and severe beating of the games crimes bosses).

And the sooner I finish off Nightshade, the sooner I can start to play Deadly Towers, and I KNOW that's something you're all interested in.

So would anyone mind if I jump the queue, or are we trying to hold it steady at one a week now?

Hmm... I'd like you to stick with the queue that's already been set up, to be honest. It kind of undermines the whole process a bit if I bend it at every whim, and it wouldn't be fair to those waiting if I let people jump ahead while they have to wait. I'd be happy to let you go ahead if the others okay it - mob rule, and all that - but as it stands I'd be happier if you took a later slot instead.

Er.. have we gone from starting two a week to one a week? Queue looks open enough to me.

Fair enough, slot me in for whenever the next open spot is.

Fun Fact about Nightshade:
There is a way to make the game unwinnable, and there is no way to determine how many uses of a multi-use item has before you run out. These two points are directly related.

It's the only mar on an otherwise fun-tastic game.

It just sorta happened - people started queueing up for one slot a week instead of two a while back in mid August and it stuck ever since. In any case, a few people have mentioned preferring the 1/week queue, and I'm inclined to agree - there's less competition between LPs when they start out while still keeping a reasonable flow of LPs going.

But as I said, there's no one stopping anyone from going if they really, really want to - it's just preferrable that they follow the queue, is all.

If I'm correct in assuming that this is the place to go to make suggestions for future Let's Plays, I'd like to suggest Valkyrie Profile (PSP or PS1 version). I'd do it myself, except I don't know the game, and I don't have the equipment to do a Let's Play.

I'm thinking about not renewing my animeanonymous.com domain when it comes time to do so, which means both of my LPs are going to be full of red Xs. I think rather than go through and change all the posts, what I might do is just spend a weekend converting them to HTML and putting them in an archive when I get my new domain set up. This has the bonus effect of preserving the LPs next time Parish decides to nuke the boards (which, like the volcano at Yellowstone, is overdue).

I'll have to get with my webmaster and see about exactly how much hosting he'll let me get away with, but I think this is a service I might like to provide to others with completed screenshot LPs, provided they do all the gruntwork HTML-izing themselves.

Just thought I'd throw the idea out there, see what people thought.

I have been considering this myself. I love the game and it's a whole lot more interactive than Persona. We an change party members up all the time, get rid of people, do dungeons in all sorts of orders and generally do whatever we want.

Granted, I need to finish EP before I should really talk about this, and I think maybe I'd like to do an old game between now and then.

In fact, if we're still "calling" stuff, I'd take this and The Guardian Legend. Ahhhhhhh yeah.

I've been backing mine up on Livejournal just in case (I already had an anime blog - didn't take much to expand the scope a bit). Somebody posted a link to a LP archive site ages ago on this thread. I figure if I ever finish mine I'll send it there, though the site appeared to be mostly SomethingAwful-centric.

And while I'm here: Damn you, Earthbound 3! I need to be editing screenshots, not playing you!

I'd like to see someone do a LP of FF9 along the lines of Elfir's FFX LP, sending up the plot and characters. There's a lot of rich material there, but I'm unsuited to doing LPs, I think. And by that I mean that consistency and I are acquaintances at best.

Heh, that'd be a fun read. I never got all that far in that game (maybe 30% is my guess) and I suspect that'd increase the funness level.

The problem with the FromEarth LP archive is that as I understand it they only save LPs that have been run on Something Awful. I think I remember Brickroad or Octopus Prime trying to submit their LP and being told they had to post it to the SA forums first.

Hadn't heard that. The info on that page seems to indicate it could come from anywhere but I wouldn't be terribly surprised if that's not the case.

I... was actually considering doing FFIX in the future, believe it or not, so an FFIX LP may be in the plans for later on (though my approach would probably be more loving than snarky; I love the game to death). No bets, though; I've still got a fair share of LPs to plough through first so I don't want to stake a claim yet, but if no one's claimed it / doing it / has done it by the time I free up space I would be glad to take it on.

EDIT: Actually, you know what? What the hell - I'm dropping PokéRed and doing FFIX. Don't worry guys - it's coming.

...I guess while we're all making requests, I'd like to add a few LPs to the list as well. Namely, Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi (AKA Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade) and Tales of Phantasia. The former would make for a nice follow-up to Tanto's previous LP, and the latter is a pretty decent game with a bit of a tragic background, and both would make for good LP material regardless.

No and no. As long as you think you can make it work, wait your turn, and finish it, go right ahead.

I want to emphasise that, at the moment, "wait your turn" is "no more than two new LP a week", and that guideline was set by ye olde forum mastah to keep the subforum traffic manageable. Sorry, Tanto, but the phrase you used smacks of elitism and chafes something fierce. There's plenty of room for new LP right now.

Not everyone reads every LP and a lot of them don't even finish, or have huge long periods between updates. If you've got something you wanna run, nimling, go for it. If you have any other questions, there's an FAQ link provided on the first page of this thread.

Ah... I made a suggestion a few pages back (Alpha Centauri), but I understand it's a pretty dense game and there's already an LP floating around on another site.

Oh dear. Sorry, the reason you didn't get added was because I must've missed your post while skimming the thread. You're added to the list now - if you're ready to start, feel free to post whenever and I'll add you to the queue.

Enh, don't worry about what's elsewhere. I'm a SMAC fiend and would absolutely be interested in a Let's Play of it here. Dense also isn't an issue.

nu's basic LP guidelines!

1) Pick a game that YOU like.
2) Understand that good LP are a lot of work and are a commitment.
3) If you don't finish your LP, we won't say anything, but we WILL be thinking that you're a terrible, terrible human being.
4) Games with a lot of audience participation possibilities are best. You don't have to poll for every little decision, but having more options open to you (and us) is better than having fewer.

If you like SMAC, and are willing to play and post through a complete game, an LP would be great. I might suggest a medium Map of Planet to keep things simple.

I humbly request a Let's Play for Shadowgate. Who was the one doing obscure adventure games? *looks for some eight-legged transformer*

It would surely if Octopus Prime had never played this game *hrr hrr*
