Hey Brickroad!

Is it ok if I encroach on your VLP territory? I have a terrible bug up my ass to let you guys watch me fail repeatedly at the Gameboy version of Castelian.

I had the day off and no other engagements.

And, again, I mostly do little shrimpy games.

Well given that most people give up around half-way through the first level, I'm pretty sure I can fit Castelian into one 20 minute video.

Assuming I ever beat the second level.

Three things.

1) Put me down for Starfox 64. I'm going to try and get my hands on an adapter so I can play with a controller rather than a keyboard, and then I'll need to get a handle on this whole "video LP"-thing. So I won't be ready to start for a while, but it should be sometime either later this month or next month.

2) I downloaded a PS2 emulator to try and see which one would work for Suikoden III, and it promptly screwed up my computer. I'll keep looking for one that works, but if I can't find one (or figure out a way to get video captures on my PS2), I might need to drop out of the Suikoden III thing. Which is a damn shame because I really, really want to do that.

3) I still want to do OoT in December. I'm not abandoning that.

I am toying with the idea of taking up Majora's Mask after Alixsar is finished with Ocarina.

Awesome. I have never seen either in their entirety so that promises to be very educational.

I'm on night shift for two weeks starting Friday and night shift = lots of free time. I'm hoping to make a lot of headway on FFX, though half my characters are having difficulty surviving lately. I'm starting to empathize with how Brickroad felt during the Suikoden LP sometimes...

Confession: I started a "firsttimer" LP of Tales of the Abyss, posted to Livejournal. Don't know if I should post it here since:
- already started it and there's no vacincies till November;
- feel guilty for cheating on FFX; and
- no clue how to replicate the html I used for skits in board code.

I really hope the image limit goes back up because it's kinda painful at 5-per.

Alright, I've fiddled around with a MM rom for a while and have deemed the controls "acceptable". Reserve it for me, and I'll do it after both SMRPG and OoT are completed.

You know what Zelda game I'd actually like to see? Oracle of Seasons and/or Oracle of Time. I never played those, and I've heard good things.

A two-part LP of the Oracle games... would be pretty interesting, actually. Even more-so if you get two separate people working on it, for increased commentary and a sort of relay feel to it. Hmm...

Er... I'm not sure what you mean here. Do you mean the people confirmed for '09, or the updated list of proposed games once I clean house?

Go for it. I was toying with the idea of doing MM as well as OoT and making the whole thing into a long, film noir-esque story...but it was going to be so much work that I was already starting to feel pressured. So this is actually a bit of a relief. Back to good ol' screenshots and sarcasm.

Well, Seasons is one of my favorite games of all time. So if no one else wants to do it, I can do it. But I don't want to hog all of the Zelda games, either. If there are two of you out there who want to do this, go right ahead.

Edit: In 3-5 days, this will be arriving at my house. I'm going to spend the next few days figuring out how to get a video LP to work, and hopefully Starfox 64 will be good to go soon.

I'd love to see the Oracle games done together, to be honest - having them down consecutively makes for a fuller experience since it ties the two together and fleshes them both out more. Personally, I'd prefer to do Seasons, since I know that game inside-out and the puzzles for Ages don't really do it for me, but I could go either-way if need be so don't let that bother you. I've got a bit on my plate at the moment though, so I think I'll add it as a request for now to open it up for anyone else considering it, but if it's still open by the time you start it up I'd be more than happy to help out.

That sounds exactly like me. I haven't played Seasons in a while, but I knew that game backwards and forwards back in the day. But now I forced Starfox 64 on myself, OoT is looming, and there's the ever-present Suikoden III project. I don't want to commit to it in case someone else wants to do it while I'm dealing with all of that stuff.

I'm just worried that I won't be able to find an emulator that will work. Since my PS3 can't play PS2 games, I'd need to figure out a way to get my PS2 to capture video. But it's okay, because I think I have.

Either way, even if I can't play along, I'd still like to contribute. I know more about Suikoden III than any game ever, so I can write about biographies about the characters and explain Suiko geography and history and other things. Don't worry Mike; we got this.

Edit: Wow, my adapter that I ordered last night has already shipped! Looks like Starfox 64 will be starting very, very soon. I'll probably wait until Papillion is done with Starfox before I upload it, though.

I'm glad Nightshade was developed in the West. That dialogue is pretty awesome, but I can only imagine how it would have been mangled coming through the NES-era East-West localization filter.

That looks exactly like the one I have (a Super Dual Box Pro). Mine works extremely well, except that I haven't been able to get two controllers to work at the same time. Despite that annoyance, it does a fantastic job with everything else that I've tried it with.

Someone requested I do Deadly Towers, and, you know, a good idea is a good idea.

So put me down for that after I'm done with Nightshade.
I'm thinking that game is as bad as it's made out to be.

I had a good idea for a group project today: Starcraft. Three people, each one with a different species' campaign. I'm terrible at Starcraft so it's not something I'd want to do, but I'd love to see it happen if any of you are brave enough to do it.

For even more fun, you could do a Brood War LP and have the same three people play but as different races.

Also, my adapter should be arriving today. Here's hoping! Come on, UPS!

Well crap, it looks like the PS3's screenshot utility is going to be implemented on a game-by-game basis. That means that it will almost assuredly not work for getting Suiko III screen caps, which kind of throws a monkeywrench into my plans.

I think it's not unreasonable to start showing Nightshade for all the land to see as early as next week. I may not be finished it by then, but I should be pretty close.

Incidentally, my last post was a bit of a goof, I meant the super-secret Spoilery bit to read:

"I'm thinking that game isn't as bad as it's made out to be."

Freudian slip, or something more sinister? YOU be the judge!

Argh, yeah, I just came in here to post what MCBanjo did. Curses! My plans are ruined!

(Unless they decide that all emulated PS/PS2 discs count as a "game" they could implement a universal capture method into - which would probably be technically possible, but I'm not holding my breath.)

*Sigh*

I guess I'll look into whether I can possibly get a Mac capture solution without breaking the bank. Fortunately I presume I have a while before the Suiko II LP finishes.

Even so, I'm not looking forward to having to lug my PS3 and Mac into the same room, as I currently use them on opposite sides of the house. Stupid Sony.
