The only reason I haven't started my second one yet is because I know I'm in the minority when it comes to how many should be going at once and how many turns each person should get. Nothing wrong with being respectful. =)

Also I fervently believe that once Parish lifts the hammer we're going to see a whole new crop of LPs. The sooner we push the old/dead ones off the first page, the easier it will be to tell which are still alive, I think.

I also fervently believe that the lull Red Hedgehog is waiting for is never going to come, and if he insists on waiting patiently for his turn he'll never get one. =)

I don't have much of an opinion re: calling multiple related games. As long as you can finish the games and the threads, call whatever you want.

I support the idea behind this picture even harder.
I'm still upset no one has posted this since it's my favorite of the NES games (and probably the series):

But I guess we are getting the DS version of it relatively soon.

EDIT:

I believe in the System, man! Also, if no one else is respectful, it won't work anyway. And if that last sentence is true, than TheSL and I can have a steel cage match over who gets to do Dragon Warrior II. (Since, you know, I actually like it more than the first one and think the experience would be slightly better than sticking a rusty fork in my eye).

I'm actually against this, because I haven't played it before, and I want a chance to stumble through the DS version on my own and then let someone show me how to pwn the game. I say give it a month after the DS game come out, then open the gates.

EDIT: I didn't realize that the people said RPG that long ago. I think I started using that between Final Fantasy II (IV) and III (VI)

DraQue4 is gonna have a fun club, guaranteed, so we shouldn't let's play it.

Go for it Red Hedgehog. Maybe you could have the even number entries and I could have the odd. I'm in no rush, since MGS4 is coming out soon it'll be at least a month before I seriously pursue another LP thread. Oh wait, that would mean I'd eventually have to play through DWVII and its 100+ hour quest again.

You know, RPGs (and the acronym) were around before they were on electronic gaming systems.

Yeah, I know. I found a 20-sided dye in my mom's stuff when I was very little. I guess I'm just thinking about how most 'Mericans didn't play JRPGs until after FFVII, so seeing it on the cover of an NES game is kind of funny to me. I would think it would say something like "Fantasy Adventure" or such crap. RPG is just a little on the nose for the unwashed masses. It'd be like seeing FPS on the Halo box.

But, I mean, it had MARIO in the title. It could have been called "Super Mario Kicks You In the Balls and Sleeps with Your Sister (an RPG)" and it would have sold a million copies.

Yeah, agreed. As much as we said that common sense and respect for each others' reading time and relative interest in reading so many at once, in the end that wasn't enough to stop a lot of people simultaneously deciding that theirs couldn't wait. Nothing wrong per se with an individual deciding to do that when the inspiration strikes, but it's inevitable that they won't be alone in doing so.

I'm hoping to jump in some time in late June, and am hoping it'll coincide with, if not a lull, at least some kind of slow(er) time. For summer or something. I dunno.

*sigh* I get the feeling that I won't get to do mine until like a year from now as I'll be afraid of stepping on toes as well. Is there an actual queue everyone is talking about or is it just hypothetical?

The way I think it's going to go down is:
  1. Parish takes down the "No LP" sticky.
  2. Zerg rush of LP threads.
  3. New sticky goes up.
  4. Repeat.

I don't think that's what we want to see, but it's what we'll have.

Well, there is the list on the first page, but that's in alphabetical order, so it's not much of a queue per se.

So yeah, it's first come first serve, but you have to have declared it first, I guess?

As I see it, the people who are "on-queue" so-to-speak would be FyreLuigi, Red Hedgehog, and a few others, but mostly it boils down to who has the spare time to actually go through with it. Some people have made claims early on but aren't planning on doing theirs for a while, so it's really hard to nail a queue based on who-claimed-what-when.

Actually, now that I mention it who exactly is ready to start when Parish gives the OK? It might help if we know who has theirs planned out and started already when deciding an informal queue.

I'm still ready and waiting to do Shadowrun. It'd be better if I could start it this week instead of next.

Just to clarify, I don't want to do mine now. I will be having summer classes until the end of June, so I will be fully prepared to start mine at the end of June. And it will be Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon if it hasn't already been added to the list.

And I am dying to read about DQs past 1, for I know nothing about them. Educate me!

Hypothetical. Just get a feel for who called dibs before you, and who did around the same time and after and go when you feel it's appropriate. At least, that's what I'm doing.

EDIT: And I'm ready to go with at least the first two updates. Provided people don't mind me updating every other/every third day, my work schedule should not prevent regular updates.

I currently have the free time to do one (Culdcept) if I'm lucky though, I may be starting a job in a month or so, and not have free time later on.

I'm pretty sure I'm almost ready, and should be about that time, but this may prove hilariously untrue...

By the way, I'm going to do Innocent Sin too. First. (I will still send it to you when I get a chance to hit the post office eirikr...I'm just going to rip the ISO, should make things a little easier)

I wanted to do DROD first, but I came up with a better idea thanks to the No More Let's Plays thread. I'm using the lull to make materials.

I've been thinking about the LP dilemma.

What about you do the following:

1) Use the first post in this or some other thread as a listing of the informal queue that's building up. Yeah, you listed the names at the beginning of this thread, but alphabetically is not really helping, is it? You could just take your time (that is if you have a little bit of it) and go over the queue entries as they appeared in this thread (and not in another one, because they just don't count ;-) ) then build up the queue accordingly to the post date.

The one who should do this would be PapillonReel, not because I hate him, but because he was the first poster ;-)

2) You could add additional information (post number, link to post, possible date to begin, long or short LP, overall intended length).

Of the three things to add "possible date to begin" is the most important, so that other people could see when they could chime in with their LPs.

...

Am I too much of a control freak? Maybe, because I'm German ;-P

I'm not sure how this queue is working exactly, but I'd like to add one to the list. Inspired by PapillionReel's minimalist run-through of Link to the Past, I thought I'd try my run at a "challenge" type Let's Play. I would like to do Super Mario World: 92. That is to say, completing the game and all exits without any of the Switch Palaces.

I've actually done this before many many years ago and it gets somewhat challenging towards the end, but I'm not entirely sure if it would make for the most interesting of Let's Plays. So while the embargo's still in place, I'll be playing through it and prepping the images and making sure that it'll make for an interesting read. If it's turns out it's not, I'll probably take my name off the queue.

I've been ready for a while now, but that's mainly because I'm going to rely pretty heavily on input from the forum for Fallout, or at least in the beginning. So I'd compile stuff, but there isn't much to compile yet.

This is easier than I thought. The hard part is compiling the images, but the actual writing is coming to me pretty easily so far. I must have had a lot more to say than I thought.

Two updates down and counting.

I probably won't be doing any because I:
-Don't have the patience to compile the images and
-Am not actually good enough at any game to make it worth while.

That being said, I do have lots of ideas for Let's Play that I'd love to submit to anyone brave enough to try them. My latest brain child: "You Pick The Party" Final Fantasy III DS. Let's see how impossible we can make this game!

I can be pretty evil when I'm not the one who's going to suffer for it.
