You know, it is hard as all firin' hell, but the Second Quest does have one thing going for it:

A lot of the time, most of the really cruel rooms with the really tough monsters have their doors unlocked.

Things are way easier when you don't have to fight Darknuts or Wizzrobes.

The ending theme (spoilers ahoy) kind of fits that bill, and is also very beautiful. Actually, lots of songs by Jadranka Stojaković are beautiful.

Now that an English patch is available, someone should totally do Live-A-Live.

I thought Live-a-Live was a fangame project, when I found it in my youth. To see its wiki page and discover the awesome truth has destroyed my resolve. Someone must LP it else I will be broken into playing it instead of studying. Go, Kishi!

"Now"? Gid's 1.0 release for it was back in early '02 or something.

Sure I guess? It depends on how the other LPs are doing of course.

I always felt the hardest way to play Gemfire was to start with the worst nation next to the Empire and knock them out first. If someone does do Gemfire make sure you play on an emulator that lets you set the turbo speed arbitrarily high. It never bothered me back in the day, but damn if the combat isn't as slow as molasses.

Of course. I'd go two steps farther than all that, in fact: I'd show the location of every hidden item and I would at least attempt to get through the entire game without losing a character in battle.

I probably wouldn't do the Vandalier class change until just before the final battle, just because of how badly it breaks the game (Plasma Wave + infinite Holy H20 = silliness). Alternately, I could beat the game as usual but keep a save file just before the final battle with Kane, which is the earliest point at which you can do the class change. Then I'd go through all the trials at once and do a separate ending where I waltzed through the last few battles with the Vanadlier just to show how much he changes the game. Vandalier Ash is seriously more broken than T.G. Cid.

I'm thinking about doing a Sailor Moon: Another Story Let's Play though I've never actually gotten all the way through it before... I'll give it a week or two before I decide for sure but would anyone be interested in that? It's awfully different from any of the LPs currently running, for sure.

June 15: Dosboot (Shadowrun) and Octopus Prime (Legend of Zelda: The Second Quest)
June 22: Pombar (Treasure of the Rudras)
June 29: silent_snake18 (Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon) and Alixsar (Ogre Battle 64)
July 6: Turnip (Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers)
Since it appears June 22nd still has an open spot and that would be the day after my birthday, I take it to be a sign I should claim it.

I've decided not to do Culdcept; as much as I love the game, I'm not sure it lends itself to a Let's Play. Instead, I would like to do Kagero: Deception II.

I played all the way through that game. It was fun. Well, aside from the chapters where you only get one character at a time. That is never fun in an RPG. I don't know why RPG designers keep making us do that.

I don't really see the appeal of it as a Let's Play article, though. Wouldn't it just amount to summarizing Sailor Moon fanfiction?

Has Parish given any indication that he'll actually be honoring this queue? Or is it just a guideline, or what?

My impression was that Parish has washed his hands of the Let's Play phenomenon and that we're now heading into Lord of the Flies territory.

He's posted in this thread since the queue went up, so I think if he wanted to be all like "No this queue is terrible you guys'll be banned if you go through with it" he would have done it already. I think it also depends on how quickly the rest of these Let's Plays finish.

I thought it was just going to be sort of an honor system type thing, but Peace through Tyranny works too.

Heck, if it's good enough for Megatron, it's good enough for me.

I would take queued games out of the proposed list so we have a better visual of what the future looks like at a glance.

You know, I'm seeing that weekly queue and suddenly I'm overwhelmed. I have work, I choose to LP PS2 games, I can conceivably pull off two updates a week... and I picked Okami, which is a 25-hour game minimum.

I don't think I can finish it in one week.

You don't need to finish it in one week, unless I'm completely misreading the intentions. Take as long as you need; the two-a-week thing is to keep the number of new threads from becoming unmanageable.

So, uh, hi.

Work got crazier all of a sudden without any real warning. I have to be at work more now, and I have more things to do while I'm there. Combined with recent family stuff, car problems that need addressing, and entertaining a guest that my roommate invited for a week before leaving, and I don't really think I have the time to do this right now. It's really weird how so much unexpected crap can go down at once, and I think I'd rather bow out for now, rather than use up 110% of my somewhat smaller amount of free time for this.

Anyway, posting this here so the LoM Let's Play can continue to slide down to the bottom. It got a couple people playing the game, at least, so I guess it isn't a complete wash.

tl;dr: Legend of Mana Let's Play cancelled until crazy shit stops happening.

Also, you can use the mean time to play through the game as much as possible and get all your writing's written up all real nice and purty like.

Or at least not a horrid criss-crossing of run-on sentences and spelling errors.

Cor, it seems like if you can technically write up your entire playthrough beforehand, maybe you shouldn't bother doing it as a thread, but instead just do a dang youtube video. -.-
