I'll exhaust Mecatol Rex for 6 influence to buy 3 CCs, adding 1 to Command Pool and 2 to Strategy Allocation.
COMMAND COUNTERS Command Pool: 2 Strategy Allocation: 3 Fleet Supply: 5 Activations: 1 Total in play: 11/16 PLANETS (Resources/Influence) Jord – 4/2 Lazar – 1/0 Sakulag – 2/1 Thibah – 1/1 Mecatol Rex — 1/6 You can take PDS fire after the movement step of the activation sequence when A.) another player has activated a system within firing range of your PDS units, or B.) you have activated a system within firing range of your PDS units. Firing always happens after movement is complete, never while ships are en route or leaving a system or anything like that. I'll take that one hit to the Dreadnought. That there's a red one. The color balance on the tile images I have is a little off in places. |

Googleshng, remember when we were just passing through Mirage on our way to parts unknown? We quite liked the area, and are thinking of purchasing some speculation properties there!
Spending a SA Counter, and exhausting Centauri for 3 Influence. CONSUMABLES Action Cards: 6 Political Cards: 1 Trade Goods: 2 COMMAND COUNTERS Command Pool: 2 Strategy Allocation: 1 Fleet Supply: 4 Activations: 0 Total in play: 7/16 PLANETS (Resources/Influence) Darien – 2/4 Arinam - 1/2, Blue Tech Specialty Meer - 0/4 Centauri - 1/3 Gral - 1/1, Blue Tech Specialty Tar'Mann - 1/1 Usis - 2/2 Velnor - 2/0, Red Tech Specialty Sumerian - 2/2, Trade Goods Arcturus - 1/1 Mirage - 1/2, Fighters This doesn't break our Trade agreement, since this was a Peaceful Annexation. We just really liked the property, and would like an interstellar highway up to the Capitol, in case we ever want to petition the guardians there. |

Er... are you allowed to use that on planets people already own? Thought it was unclaimed only?

They only need to be empty (no units on), not neutral.
|
#1004

|

Oh yeah. That does just say empty planet. Which means, if I were so inclined, I could either snatch Wellon right back, or grab either Usis or Velnor there, Mirage being off the table since Sev technically comes up after I do here... and that tech I just picked up means I'd get anything I grabbed unexhausted, right?

From the fine print on the expansion rules, page 14:
"A player may not annex a planet that another player annexed this turn, and no player may annex Mecatol Rex." So, table order isn't a factor, at least for the single debate planets. It only matters if the planet was empty and not yours at the beginning. So, Usis/Velnor is up for grabs, between you and Egarwaen. You come up first in the table order, so you get first pick if Egarwaen chooses to grab one too. Sarc, please correct me if this interpretation is incorrect. It doesn't actually talk about the table order under the Diplomacy II rules, but I inferred since we used it on other things. Last edited by John; 07-20-2011 at 08:12 AM. |

You've got it right. Table order would matter if there were a conflict between two players trying to annex the same planet — for example, if Egarwaen and Googleshng were both trying to annex Lisis (in that case, the player with earlier table order, Googleshng (moving clockwise from SilentSnake), would take priority for the planet he wants, and Egarwaen would have to pick the other planet), but Googleshng can't re-annex the worlds he just lost, at least not this round. He does receive any planet he annexes refreshed, as per Nano Technology.

Grr, Lisis / Usis, I was just looking at the planets in my copy of the game and noticed that. I'll update all of my info later.

All right. You're up once Googleshng has made his annexation choice, if any.

Well, it's darn tempting to give Sev some pre-emptive payback there, which would leave my currently available and long-term resource count the same, but I think for now I'm better off with the conservative option of making sure I can actually do what I was originally planning on my next turn. Thus, pass and icy icy stare.

Google, we're still cool! I didn't attack you this turn, we're just so persuasive that everyone wants to have their genetic code rewritten to become one of us.
We have also been eying the real estate up on Thibah, but unfortunately there is someone living there at the moment. No matter, I'm sure we can resolve this peacefully. If not peacefully, then maybe with little bloodshed (on our part). Placing one Command Pool CC in Thibah, and moving my one Dreadnought up from Sumerian/Arcturus. This breaks our lucrative Trade Contract, unfortunately. Trade Contracts Yin 1 to Googleshng in exchange for Jol-Nar 1 Yin 1 to Nobody COMMAND COUNTERS Command Pool: 1 Strategy Allocation: 1 Fleet Supply: 4 Activations: 1 Total in play: 7/16 Battling time! I get one free hit from my Assault Cannon, which I'll put below in spoilers in case Sarc wants to play a card. I choose not to at this time. 7. A hit, didn't even have a chance. What say ye? |

Lucas still has all his info, in case someone else wanted to pick up the Mentak, so I'll just be handling straight dice rolls for his ships. I've been using this dice roller.
Both Cruisers get to take free potshots before the battle starts. The results are: 1, 9 So that's 1 hit for you to assign before the regular battle begins. I'll be back later to do the regular battle rolls as needed; gotta make dinner now! |

Defending Lodor are a Dreadnought and 2 Cruisers. The Cruisers get +1 to their attack rolls with the Hylar V Assault Laser.
Dreadnought x1: 8 Cruisers x2: 3, 1 So that's 1 hit total for the first round. Pretty weak, Mentak! |

Assign 1 hit to a fighter to destroy it (now at 7x fighters -- Leaving Ground Trooper + Shock Troops at Hope's End and bringing one extra fighter so it doesn't die)
Lodor: Dreadnoughtx1, Carrierx2, Cruiserx1, Fightersx8, Ground Troopsx2 Round 1 rolls Dreadnought: 1 Cruiser: 3 (+1 from Hylar) Carriersx2: 4, 5 Fightersx7: 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 9 (+1 from Cybernetics) Fighters save me. Assign three hits. Remove 1 fighter from the Space Vampires. Lodor: Dreadnoughtx1, Carrierx2, Cruiserx1, Fightersx6, Ground Troopsx2 |

Round 2
Lodor: Dreadnoughtx1, Carrierx2, Cruiserx1, Fightersx6, Ground Troopsx2 Dreadnought: 9 Cruiser: 3 (+1) Carrierx2: 8, 6 Fighterx6: 1, 8, 1, 7, 2, 4 (+1) Goodbye enemy Dreadnought. Can I bombard the enemy troops? |

Only if invading (War Suns can bombard without invading, but Dreadnoughts can't), and if you invade and win you'll destroy the Space Dock, and if you do that you can't blockade it.
