If she still had Holy on her spell list, she probably would have stayed back. The AI wanted her to rush me down so she could do some damage. That's the AI's number one priority, assuming nobody is down or needs healing.

White Magic, aside from Holy, is not the AI's priority at the opening of the fight, because everyone on the team is already fine. If she had an offensive option that allowed her to keep her distance, like calculated Holy, she would have used that, and probably been content to keep her distance.

And now, the end of 1L.

Coming up:

Torzelbaum vs. Destil
Gerad vs. Aeonus
Jikkuryuu vs. Sanagi
Mogri vs. Elfir

If you can guess all four results correctly, you win an imaginary cookie!

I really hate to bring this up, but... I don't think you made the Yin Yang Magic changes that I posted. She's not supposed to have Pray Faith, and I added several other calculable spells. I think the problem is that my "Angel Ring" post was a little misleading when I said that I "just decided to swap out the cursed ring".

Yes, I can see how that would affect the outcome of this battle.

Good news! This one is much more entertaining anyway.

In the end, history refused to change, but Regulus brought his A-game with Zombie.

Also, let's hear it for the return of Deathtrap!

That was a great series of matches! Thanks for going to the trouble of running them again.

Stuff like that double zombie hit and unfortunate confluence of Chaos Blade turns is what I love to see. My bulky knight is not very good at his job when he's that outpaced and all of his gear is in tatters, heheh.

Math skill paranoia was (part of) my team's undoing, because it's pretty clear that the AI loves innocent even when it's pointless. The more you know!

Those were truly exciting matches.

I enjoy seeing these rematches, cuz it's actually really interesting to see how drastically different the AI will perform, with only minor changes to their skillsets. Cutting out the fat, and getting them to stop using their turns ineffectively, is pretty key to almost completely turning around how things go down. Plus, seeing the same 2 teams fight each other multiple times makes it a lot easier to see how people's teams are supposed to be functioning.

Wow, my heart was pounding. That zombie/Elixir combo is beautiful when it works. I love how Regulus's undoing in his first round was his strategy in the next.

Aeonus, Aeonus... who is he...

Oh, Tiamat. Uh-oh.

That was a very enjoyable round of matches. Thanks, Mogri!

Off-the-top winners guesses: Destil, Aeonus, Jikuryuu, Mogri.

Wow, what are the odds of that flare getting through 70% MP Switch and 50% magic evade? 15%? Thought you had me there for a second (didn't think the terrain would allow revive).

Maybe if my Knight hadn't been so dumb and provided some offense instead of standing around.

Yay team!

How about calcing four holies instead of all that nonsense? Yeesh.

Why wouldn't petrify stick on the Tiamat?

Also, it has no MEv, right? Is it just really unlucky that a stop, petrify, and two deaths all missed? EDIT: Oh, 40 faith. Fine then, kind of unlucky? Should still be around 20% each.

Sorry, I'm not so great with following fast-forwarded FFT. Probably because I haven't really played the game. So lemme make sure I understood what happened here.

Gerad's not-Wizard unit (too lazy to see what it is) cast Death. It missed both of Aeonus's units, but ended up killing Gerad's Wizard (I guess because it hits everything on the field?)? And then the Tiamat mopped up?

The Knight has Item to cure anything that hits the Tiamat, so it might have landed, but it wouldn't have stuck. And yes, you got unlucky.

That's pretty much the sum of it. My guess is that Gerad's unit ignored the Wizard because of Transparent, but it's also possible she just didn't care. :stone cold:

i kept saying to myself "Damn the AI is stupid why isn't the scary dragon attacking?" but then I realized it was just waiting for the right moment to strike.

I think she can smell fear.

Things were setting up so well for my team, too! I thought I might actually beat it. All I needed was for a Death/Stop/Petrify to land on the Tiamat and then Cersei to bust in and one-shot the Knight.

It also hurt that, after betraying Cersei, Jaime just walked himself right into death range. If he'd stayed back he could have brought Cersei back and all would have been well.

What's that? You want more Deathtrap?

Here's more Deathtrap.

I called it "Dragoon." Been playing too much FF5.

Maybe they were just tired of all of the killing. Or maybe Cersei just prefers to have someone else set up her victims and then she knocks them (all) down in the loser's bracket.

I think Jaime was just sick and tired of everyone talking about how great Cersei is.

"Cersei is just so powerful!"
"Oh no, I have to fight Gerad? How will I ever beat Cersei!"
"Draw Outs are so OP, just look at Cersei!"

It's like he's not even there, he couldn't take it anymore. He put the bitch in her place.

AI question: if I set Jaime to Run Like a Rabbit, will he still attack as often as he would under Save Fading Life, or will he just turtle and do nothing?

Did anyone have a Math Skill unit with Run Like a Rabbit I can look at as an example?

I'll get my changes in tomorrow.

To be perfectly honest, I can't tell the slightest bit of difference between "Run like a rabbit" units, and "Save fading life" units. They don't seem to behave any differently. I honestly don't think the "Run like a rabbit" AI actually works.
