Technically, DeeMer had those. The problem was that he also had everything else too.

Yeah, looks like my victories are gonna rely heavily on the random number god. Where my enemies choose to stand and where those triple hits land are gonna make all the difference. Does anyone besides Yuko have MP Switch, Auto-Shell, and over 380 hp? Put someone like that on mostly-flat terrain and they've got nothing to worry about. But put them on a 1-wide stairway and they'll turn out like Brenque.

I believe both of my units would likely survive unless all three blasts hit, assuming their reaction abilities trigger. But unless I ditch that Cursed Ring, I don't see my team clawing its way out of the grave loser's bracket, and I haven't yet decided if I'm going to or not.
I think the biggest hurdle your team is going to face is status magic. Without something to consistently deny the Tiamat of turns, I imagine it is going to murder the hell out of everything even if it doesn't do it in one action like the last match. Battle flow is going to be a big deal, because of Yuko's item skill. This is going to be a fun team to watch. |

In this video, I forget which hair ornament blocks which status effects. (For reference, Barette blocks Petrify, and Cachusha blocks Frog.)

You can frog cachusha wearers and stop/petrify barette wearers. The only complete defense for the ribbonless unit (I found) is 100% M-Evade.
This is why my team can calculate a spell from both sets and why my ribbonless knight has abandon and a shield. ...I may be a little overoptimized for fighting math skill teams. |

Mamas, don't let your Math-Skillers grow up to Doubt Faith.

Hey, Doubt Faith isn't so bad. It did almost exactly what it was supposed to in my match.

My plan was for my priest to use Doubt Faith surgically to nullify enemy math skill wielders. I guess quadruple amputation counts as 'surgical'.

I think the video title is wrong. I'm pretty sure my team already fought.

I hope Jaime can soften up that Damage Splitting monk enough for Cersei to not kill herself! Please don't calc too many Pray/Doubt Faiths...

Not only does Jepac survive a draw out but the damage split kills Cersei dead in one hit.
My money's on Sol. |

Still, my money would be on Sol too. I don't think I'll get as lucky with no Pray Faiths/Doubt Faiths as last time. |

I have no idea why people are favoring me over the dark sword wielder. My draw out artist is about half as strong as Cersei.

Because I think Damage Split is one of the most powerful abilities in the format (if anyone else had already done the absorb holy gimick I'm pretty sure I'd have gone with a Damage Split Dragoon and a Meatbone Slash Gun Knight) since it feeds off the obscene power that's present and bypasses most other reactions.

432 damage ain't nothin to mess with.
I mean, it's not 648, but it's not half of that either. |

You're probably wondering what the success rate for that spell was. It was 86%. Round 1 is drawing to a close. If you were defeated, please submit your changes in a timely manner so that we can start the losers' bracket. The battleground will change at the start of the losers' bracket. We'll continue to use that battlefield for round 2, switching again at the next losers' bracket. |

Ha, same reaction here.
I'm betting it's my spell because I'm a natural pessimist. |

I tried calculating Raise 2 success rates for both of us (I am way too into this) and I got 88% for mine and 87% for yours. Inconclusive.

Whatever happened, it was a pretty short battle (about two and a half minutes!)

Good news: it's public! Also, Gerad has a rounding error.

I feel dumb for giving my monk earth slash.
I honestly have no ideas for how to make this team viable. |

Just remove Earth Slash from the monk, and maybe consider giving him a Judo Outfit to prevent instant death? (at the cost of 140hp) This leaves you with 676hp, which is still enough to survive anything outside of that Tiamat. The instant death thing is gonna bite you with all the Math Skill (All) units running around, and you still need to keep that Jade Armlet for Petrification protection. Otherwise, an Angel Ring would have been choice.
Honestly, if I hadn't used the Batman and Robin theme, I would have built something very very similar to your team. Like, the only thing I can think of that I'd really have done different is I probably wouldn't have given the monk Throw, and I dunno that I would have necessarily thought of anything better. You're in good shape, you just got unlucky. Last edited by PrivateJoker; 06-21-2013 at 07:29 AM. |

This is an interesting one, if the fight goes long Threaten and Chaos Blade powered breaks favor dtsund, I think, but the fight may not go long. Also an interesting back and forth on status ailments vs. vulnerabilities.
Think I'm going to have to (very slightly) lean towards Sanagi, once Toast gets into range and starts jumping she's going to be hard to stop. Quote:
Perhaps Equip Shield and a Escutcheon II? Also costs a lot of HP and damage split potential, but it stops most status attacks 50% of the time (from the front). Some other reaction may be worthwhile at that point. |

I would suggest giving Jepac Equip Shield and an Escutcheon II. He'll still have plenty of opportunities for Damage Split with all the unavoidable attacks, but he'll have some good status defense via the evade. I'd also suggest removing Iris's Cure spells; the healing Draw Out will do just as well and doesn't have a casting time. You may also want a better source of offense against high evasion; right now it's just Earth Slash and Holy. Damage Split is nice, but if you can't hurt the other team otherwise, they'll just Elixir/whatever themselves back. |

I've updated my team for loser's bracket. Bringing the tournament's first MIME into the equation. I was very close to using a Draw Out Wizard, but this just seems right. A newbie being a pioneer and all.
