Turn 43, President Baltar
Character Locations and Current Hand Size Destiny Deck: 8 cards Boomer: Hanger Deck, 6 cards Admiral Helo: Research Lab, 5 cards, 1 Nuke President Baltar: Weapons Control, 6 cards, 4 Quorum Cards Apollo: Caprica, 3 cards Chief: Caprica, 3 cards, 1 Super Crisis Board Status Galactica: 5/6, Armory out Colonial One: Rocking Civilian Ships: 12/12, 1 in play Raptors: 2/4 Vipers: 8/8 (0 in play, 7 in reserves, 1 damaged, 0 destroyed) Resource Dials: Fuel, Food, Morale, Population: 5, 3, 5, 4 Jump Prep: [start] [X] [X] [-3] [-1] [auto] Boarding Party: nonexistent Distance: 6 Ship locations Bow of Galactica: Clear Port-Bow: Clear Port-Aft: Clear Aft: 3 Raiders Starboard-Aft: 1 Civvy Starboard-Bow: Clear Baltar, what should the hungry fleet do? |

FIRE THE WAVE MOTION GUN
or Does anyone have any suggestions? |
#694
I suggest launching Vipers to defend our civvy ship from the Cylon raiders swinging around our aft toward it.

Visions of Baltar piloting a Viper with a little astromech and screaming YIPPEE as he destroys the Death Star swims through his mind as he runs to Command and launches Vipers.
I don't understand the rules about launching Vipers, so uh, someone give me a hand here. I can either launch 1 and have it move to an adjacent space or launch 2 and they just stay in they're current space? |
#696
Exactly.
#697
What you want to do in this case is activate 2 Vipers by lauching them from the southeast tube (when you "activate" a Viper, that means you launch it, move it or attack with it — "up to two" can mean the same Viper twice).
#698
Yeah, what the Admiral said. Launch two Vipers from the southeast tube.
#699
Two drones pop out to protect the Civvy.
Crisis Step Oh my gods, are we having yet another Food Shortage President Chooses -2 food, OR -1 food, President discards 2 Skill cards, then current player discards 3 Raiders Activate Jump Prep: yes You're not seeing things yet again, the spreadsheet's random number generator did indeed put two of these cards back to back. Again, I thought about tweaking it, but I want to give as accurate of a simulation of BSG as I can. These things do happen; I had a game with 5 Cylon Attack cards in the first 10 draws, and one with nothing until the Sleeper Phase. Anyway, President, what would you like for your Crisis Draw? And would you like to lose 2 food, or 1 food and 5 of your cards? |
#700
Frak. Ditch the cards, Prez.
#701
This is real bad. Discarding my hand and losing 1 food.
Would this discard have included whatever I got for my crisis draw? |
#702
Yeah, it's after you draw, not resolve.
#703
Oh wait, after my Crisis draw I should have 7 cards, so I can still keep two. I'm going to take a Politics for my Crisis draw.
#704

Discarding
Eng - Repair 2 Lea - Executive Order 1 Pol - Consolidate Power 1 Pol - Consolidate Power 2 Pol - Investigative Committee 3 |

Baltar sacrifices his third breakfasts in order to help the fleet. -1 food.
Raiders move into the same space as the vipers and civilian ship. Looks like they're gonna have a party! Jump Prep moves up to -1 to jump. |

Let's have a Piloting and Engineering card. And the humans have an awful lot of cards right now. Let's activate Caprica and give them a crisis.

Crisis Phase
Baltar, there's this strange leggy blonde woman who wants to see you. Says she has some "evidence" on a hexagonal disc she wants to share. Keep Tabs on Visitor Check of 12, Yellow, Green, Purple (Pol, Lea, Tac) Current Player Chooses: Pass: No Effect, Fail: roll a die, if 4 or lower -2 population OR Current player discards 4 random skill cards. Activate Raiders Jump Prep: Yes Apollo, which option would you like to do? |
#709
Let's take the check, shall we? I think we shall.
#710
I think we shall not. Using Helo's Moral Compass, I reverse your decision! Dump some cards, buddy.
#711
Or not, if you don't want to. Revealed Cylons are immune to Crisis Card and Skill Check abilities.
Either way, the Crisis goes nowhere. Chief's turn will be posted this afternoon. |
#712
Ah, dang. Oh well. Crisis averted in any case.

Man what. How can Chief's moral compass still be affecting me. I am so disappointed in my robot heart, but not enough to drop cards.

Chief also goes Crisis diving, in search of some tasty nuggets.
Crisis Step Hey everyone, if you couldn't tell by the unwanted wireless calls and hallway signs, it's that time of year again! Baltar's re-election campaign is in full swing! Will Tom Zarek finally have a chance at reform? Will a lonely "Kindergarten Teacher" move up to the main stage? Tensions are high, especially because everyone's hungry! Elections Loom Check of 8, Yellow and Green (Pol, Lea) Pass: No Effect, 5+: -1 morale, Fail: -1 morale and President discards 4 Skill Cards Heavy Raiders Activate Jump Prep: Yes Contribution Order: Destiny: 2 cards Boomer: 0 cards Admiral Helo: 2 cards President Baltar: 1 card Apollo: 1 card Chief: 1 card Let's get the election party started! It'd be nice if I had 4 skills cards.
#719

Aww, well, you would just discard how many you can. In this case, two cards.
#720

And you don't have to discard anything you contribute, obviously, so there's no downside to helping with the skill check.
