It might help, but it's your call. If we use cards to get you out, they won't be free for the crisis you'd draw if released. And I can't help this time if you make the attempt.

On the other hand, Boomer also has her once per game skill that she could use. That would make that crisis particularly easy. I'm not sure about letting her out, but given the state of the board, I think it would behoove us to scoot ASAP.
Also, I will jump into the Viper that launched left and use Maximum Firepower - 4 in an attempt to thin the hoard. 1 7 1 8 And the civvies should be safe another round. Last edited by Rai; 10-16-2011 at 01:45 AM. Reason: Fixing card value |

Okay then, discard down to 10 cards. And we move on.

How do you all feel about a risky jump? Keep in mind I can reroll the die once, and if someone has a certain card we can add 2 to the roll.

Boomer's discards:
Tac - Launch Scout 1 Pil - Evasive Maneuvers 1 Eng - Repair 1 |

We're not in a fantastic position right now, especially if Basestars were to fire next crisis. An emergency jump may be the best of all possible moves.

HEY ALL, I just had yet another rules epiphany.
So, Boomer's in the brig, which makes her not able to draw a crisis card. Her "Recon" ability states that "at the end of your turn, you may look at the top card of the Crisis Deck and place it on the top or bottom". It doesn't say she draws a card as part of Recon, or launching scouts. Brigged people would still be able to risk Raptors to look at both Crisis and Destination Decks. I'm not sure how to really explain it thematically without reaching, though. So, we missed the very first Recon, but the Admiral hasn't made any decisions on this turn yet. I will send the Recon Crisis over, and hold off on the Movement/Actions until you see what she has to say. Thanks, and I apologize. When you run this game, you really do see all the underpinnings, but you also see just how complex they have made it. |

Boomer says keep it on top.
Admiral, what would you like to do? |

I'm going to move to FTL Control in preparation for a jump. Anyone wants to play Strategic Planning, now's the time. I'll make the roll in an hour or two after I get back from lunch.

Can I play strategic planning from the brig?
#525
Yep! You can play any card except for Maximum Firepower and Repair. The Action cards have to be played on your turn, but the other ones can be played when appropriate.
#526
I'll wait for `Hrist to play or not play SP before I roll.
#527
I'll play Strategic Planning 3 then.
#528
All right, let's do this.
First roll is a 1. Crap! Anyone have another of those for the re-roll? |
#529
SP's are good for the entire roll, including re-rolls.
From the FAQ: Q: What happens if Helo rerolls a die that was modified by a “Strategic Planning” tactics card? A: The reroll also receives +2 to its result. |
#530
Right you are! I just looked that up myself.
I roll a 4, +2 makes it a 6. So we lose 3 population escaping the onslaught. Dang. At least population is where we've had the least losses. Let's see where we're going. |

I think our only hope of survival is to cover the remaining distance as quickly as possible and hope attrition doesn't bleed us dry first. We have all our raptors and we're good on fuel. Therefore:
Remote Planet Distance 2 Lose 1 fuel and destroy 1 raptor We can be free and clear to Kobol in two more jumps, if we draw a 2 distance or better destination next time. Time to start scouting! |
#532

The Admiral leaves behind the spinning ship, who are then devoured by Centurions. -3 Population.
One Raptor is sacrificed to find the way to the remote planet, so pour one out for Hot Dog. Crisis Step
Hey all, remember that huge supply of water that you just found? Yeah, about that. Water Sabotaged Check of 13, Yellow, Green, Purple (Pol, Lea, Tac) Current Player Chooses: Pass: No Effect, Fail: -2 food. OR -1 Food. Raiders Activate Jump Prep: Yes Admiral Helo, will we take the check, or lose the Food? |
#534
I can help a fair amount if we go for the check, but not enough to be confident we can pass it. How are the rest of you doing?
Honestly, I'm leaning toward just giving up the 1 food. We're doing OK there as well. But damn this has been an expensive turn. |
#535
I could add in a bit, but our food is either at or near the starting value. Of all the resources available, we don't really have a lot to lose either way you choose. We're sitting fairly pretty, honestly.

#536

I can help a little and I agree that it's basically six to one, half a dozen to the other about whether we do the check or not.
#537
I can help a lot but I think it would be better to take the -1 and conserve our cards.
#538
Let's take the -1 this time. Food is one thing we can still afford to lose a bit of.
#539

Water is rationed, and Food drops to 7.
Raiders activate ineffectually, and Jump Prep goes up by one. |
