Although I won't be taking part, you can bet that I'll be following this...I LOVE LPs of unorthodox things like board games and CYOA books.

Starting cards have been sent out to everyone. Please welcome Admiral Helo and President Baltar to the stage!

:crickets: who is that guy? I know that one, he's the eccentric lush who we voted for out of pity, but that guy? what happened to Admiral Pockmark, or the wife beater? oh well

And with that, we can start! I would be able to take pictures of the starting board, but my crappy camera is dead from plugging it into the computer to charge. Yeah I know. I'll put in a later post with the pretty pics.

Turn 1: Boomer

Character Locations
Boomer: Armory
Helo: Deep Space
Balter: Research Lab
Apollo: Port Bow (in viper)
Chief: Hanger Deck

Board Status
Galactica: Fully healed
Colonial One: Rocking
Raptors: 4
Vipers 8 (3 in play, 5 in reserves)
Resource Dials: 8, 8, 10, 12
Jump Prep: Start
Boarding Party: nonexistent
Distance: 0

Ship locations
Bow of Galactica: 1 Basestar, 3 Raiders
Port-Bow: 1 Manned Viper (Apollo), 1 Unmanned Viper
Port-Aft: 1 Unmanned Viper
Aft: 2 Civvy's

Boomer, you're up! You may move somewhere, then take an action. Note that you are a Pilot, so you can choose to launch in a Viper and go pew-pew. Or, you can just stay there in the Armory and dry off from your swim in the water tanks.

Afterwards we draw our first Crisis Card, and see how much peril you are in.

Good Luck!

p.s. I don't know the proper terminology for front/back of spaceships, so I'll probably use stern and aft interchangeably. I like Bow for the front, though. Heavy Raider off the port bow! Plus there'll be pictures to reference, so you'll figure it out.

Launch me in a Viper! Let's get all up in this.

Can I use Recon before I draw my crisis card, or after? I can never remember!

Boomer's Recon ability lets her look at the top card of the Crisis Deck at the end of her turn, and can place it at the Top or the Bottom.

The Hanger Deck lets you jump into a Viper if you're a Pilot, then you can take another Action. The Action can be to Move to another space area, attack something in your space, or do any other Action: you may have, either on Cards or Roles.

Which area would you like to launch into? And what will your second action be?

I'll move toward the Base Star and Raiders.

Draw a Crisis Card.

Hmmm, what exactly were you doing in the Armory, Boomer? We just heard on the wireless, there's a...

Bomb Threat

Check of 13, Yellow, Green, Purple (Pol, Lea, Tac)

Current Player Chooses:
Pass: No Effect,
Fail: -1 morale and draw a civilian ship to destroy

OR

roll a die, on a 4 or lower trigger the Fail condition

Cylon Activation: Raiders
Jump Prep: Yes

What say you?

First you pick if you're going to take the check, or roll the die. You may ask for guidance from the other players, but the decision is yours to make.

If you go for the check, then everyone PM's me their specific cards, and states in the thread (in turn order) how many cards they will be contributing. Note that if you want to play a card like Investigative Committee, please post it before people start putting in cards, or PM me beforehand with specific scenarios that you would like your IC played.

You may change what cards you are contributing up until you post in the thread with the specific number. Once you say you are contributing 1 card, that 1 card is locked in.

If you want to go for the die roll, let me know, and anyone who wants to play a Strategic Planning, also announce it before the die is rolled. I will place the results in spoiler tags, so if you want to play an SP card, please be on the honor system and don't look until you decide.

Turn order for this check will be: Helo, Apollo, Baltar, Chief, Boomer.

Unless anyone has any objections, I'm going to say that we should do a check.

What does everyone say?

I dunno, the roll for this isn't that bad.

Either way you go, I can't help at all. I want to keep my sole leadership card, and it's too low to contribute much of anything.

I can't really make any meaningful contributions until I can draw.

I can help a lot, and losing a civvy ship could be a real blow this early depending on what's drawn, so I'm down for a skill check, but if two of us can't contribute it's a real crapshoot as to whether we can meet or beat 13. At least with the die roll there's a 50-50 chance of success.

So much for turn order.

Apollo will not put in any cards.

Sorry, I don't know if I'll be away when it comes to my turn in the check, hence why I posted that.

I put it in spoilers for when it is actually my turn to put in.

Gaius takes a break from abusing his position of power to contribute 2 cards.

The reason for the turn order is the current player on down to the right are the players who have to wait the most to refresh their hand. If they see a ton of cards with people saying they're helping a lot, they may want to save their cards for another check.

I think your idea of spoilering works great in this format, as it won't slow the game down.

Just so I can keep all the characters straight, it would be nice if everyone said their character name when contributing. So:

ex. Boomer contributes five cards

The check is in.

For:
Pol - Consolidate Power 1
Pol - Investigative Committee 3

Lea - Executive Order 2
Lea - Declare Emergency 4

Tac - Launch Scout 2
Tac - Strategic Planning 3
Tac - Strategic Planning 3
Tac - Strategic Planning 4

Against
Eng - Repair 2

22 - 2 = 20, Pass! And How!

Raiders Attack Sullen Boomer!

Raider 1 - 4, miss
Raider 2 - 1, miss
Raider 3 - 1, miss. She jukes and jives and lives another day.

Jump Prep advances. I'll send Boomer her Recon Crisis, then we move on to Turn 2!

With Helo off the board, I believe all that happens for my turn is that I draw my cards, then we jump straight to the crisis.

Waiting on Boomer to give the Yea or Nay on the next Crisis, before we give it to Helo. Will be home in a couple hours to take pictures and clean up the Status.

Pics added above, please to enjoy!

Turn 2, Admiral Helo!

Character Locations
Boomer: Bow (in viper)
Helo: Deep Space
Balter: Research Lab
Apollo: Port Bow (in viper)
Chief: Hanger Deck

Board Status
Galactica: Fully healed
Colonial One: Rocking
Raptors: 4
Vipers 8 (4 in play, 4 in reserves)
Resource Dials: 8, 8, 10, 12
Jump Prep: [start] [x] [x] [-3] [-1] [auto]
Boarding Party: nonexistent
Distance: 0

Ship locations
Bow of Galactica: 1 Basestar, 3 Raiders, 1 Manned Viper (Boomer)
Port-Bow: 1 Manned Viper (Apollo), 1 Unmanned Viper
Port-Aft: 1 Unmanned Viper
Aft: 2 Civvy's

Since Helo's still on Caprica for the first season in the TV show, he has to sit out a turn, having all the sex with one of the cylons. At least, I think that's how it worked. It's been a while.

We go straight to Crisis Step! Boomer was so happy all of you put too many resources in the last check, she wants it to be an actual holiday!

Colonial Day

Check of 10, Yellow and Purple (Pol, Tac)

Current Player chooses,

Pass: +1 morale, fail, -2 morale

OR

-1 morale

Basestars Attack

Jump Prep: Yes

Come up for air, Helo, and give us a choice!
