Oh, I thought I'd mentioned before that I couldn't help with a die roll; I've drawn no cards since then.

Alright, Boomer stumbles into the FTL control room and tries to remember which lever does which. A or B... A or B....
Playing Strategic Planning to add 2 to my result. Rolling.... 7! And we're away! |

Boomer correctly pushes the Red Button, which brings all the ships to the yard, damn right. Board is clear, Jump Prep is reset, and Destinations are sent to the Admiral.

While I've got a mind to do it, let's talk Destination Cards! There are three levels of distance on the cards, 1, 2, and 3. The 1 Distance ones obviously don't get you much closer to the end goal, but they have things that could be beneficial to Galactica. This is where you get fuel back (other than one Crisis card) and food, like the Icy Moon that we've already jumped to. These also have the disadvantage of moving you along slowly, and could let your other resources slowly drain away while you're conserving fuel.
The 2 Distance cards typically just lose two resources, but one of them is always fuel. 3 Distance cards get you moving, but have a high resource cost. The majority of the cards in the deck are 2 Distance, with the next highest being 1 and followed by a few 3's. Galactica's at 2 distance right now, and needs to make it to 4 for Sleeper Phase, and at least 8 plus one more jump with no resources at 0 for humans to win the game. |

Well, with the two choices I have I figure a Sleeper Phase right now would be a disaster. So let's go less far and load back up, people.
Ragnar Anchorage Distance: 1 The Admiral may repair up to 3 vipers, and 1 raptor. These ships may be damaged or destroyed. Three Vipers repaired! |

I assume you want to repair the destroyed viper, and two damaged ones?
Distance: 3 Vipers: 8/8 (0 in play, 6 in reserves, 2 damaged, 0 destroyed) Last edited by John; 09-21-2011 at 10:12 AM. |

Crisis Step
Boomer, is it you? Are you the Fulfiller of Prophecy Check of 7, Yellow and Green (Pol & Lea) Current Player chooses, Pass: Current player draws 1 politics skill card, Fail: -1 population OR Current player discards 1 skill card, after activate cylon ships step, draw a new crisis card and resolve it. Basestars Attack Jump Prep: no Boomer, what is your destiny? Last edited by John; 09-21-2011 at 11:18 AM. |

Why all the 1 distances, Sarc? Don't you think that will bite us in the ass later when our resources start draining faster than we can get to the end?
#310
It could. But trust me, the other option would bite us in the ass harder, not least because we'd have been certain to have two Cylons in the mix afterward, and there are strong indications that we have none right now. As it is, if we can wrangle a 3-distance destination for the next jump, the humans will have a better chance of winning. Fixing those Vipers for free has saved us a few turns and Repair cards. I think the distance tradeoff set against the loss the other card presented vs. its benefits was worth it.

Calling for a skill check!
As usual, Boomer can't contribute anything. Maybe she's the chosen one? |

And assuming there isn't a Cylon right now is a dangerous game, since failing skill checks isn't the only effective Cylon strategy... |

Boomer wants YOU to contribute to a skill check!

Be that as it may, Snake, I didn't see the benefit of taking the loss the other card offered in exchange for the extra distance it had versus the benefits of this one.

Baltar can contribute but I want to see what everyone else can contribute before I decide how many cards to put in. Wait, can I do that?

I think you have to decide now, Baltar — we contribute in order, and you're next.

Well if now's the time to contribute, Gaius contributes 2 cards.

Baltar, how are you feeling about what you put in? High? Low?
#321
Errrr...what are the rules regarding what I can say?
#322
Things like:
"I helped a little." "I helped some." "I helped a lot." |
#323
But you can only use "Some" or "A Medium Amount" if you put in two or more cards.

Uhhh..I helped a lot?

While we're waiting, here's Galactica's after-jump status:

Check of 7, Politics & Leadership
Destiny: 2 cards Helo: 0 cards Baltar: 2 cards Apollo: 1 card Chief: 1 card Boomer: 0 cards And doing the numbers: Positive Pol - Consolidate Power 2 Pol - Consolidate Power 2 Pol - Investigative Committee 4 Lea - Executive Order 1 Lea - Declare Emergency 3 Negative Pil - Evasive Maneuvers 1 12 - 1 = 11, a Pass! Boomer gets one Politics card. Basestars would attack if they knew where you were, but apparently your FTL calculations were wrong, so jump prep doesn't advance. Boomer, your free Recon of the Crisis Deck is away, do you want to keep it or bury it? Edit: She says it's good news, head the fleet that away! |
