You aren't my target audience maybe then. That's fine though!

My target audience is probably people who enjoy an intimate LP in which a single vote or comment can radically influence the resulting update, an update which can appear as quickly as 20 minutes later. My target audience enjoys schadenfreude. They also don't feel they must respect any sanctity - a bad LP is a place where it's safe to babble or even disdain. There's more but it's a secret to everyone.

Before this gets any more heated, I think it's important to point out that nothing that Guild is doing is against the rules*. If the problem is that someone is starting and finishing LPs, and has an audience who enjoys them (even it may not be that large), well, that's a pretty good problem to have in my eyes.

I hope things aren't getting heated here, everyone seems really just honest to me and calm, and if it IS a big deal I'll just stop. It's not even a deal, yo! I got some sculpting and wood burning to do...

Regardless, I think the best thing to do here might be what was suggested earlier - to compile Guild's LPs into a single thread or so. This should resolve the issue of preventing one user's threads from dominating the front page, while still letting Guild continue with his LPs and those who enjoy them to continue watching them without deterring his activity.

Apparently there's a problem doing "super threads" caused and they're banned now. I agree that would be cool though.

Even though it is officially labeled as abandoned, I do intend to continue and finish my Let's Play of Sacred Stones. Ideally in the near future. My track record of updating is far from reliable though. So I'm guess I'm saying if you are planning to take over mine, I would rather you didn't, despite that fact that according to the rules you could.

It's in progress but abandoned. Etiquette is to contact the previous owner for his blessing, though it's not strictly necessary.

I'm not taking over the abandoned one, I'd planned to do a new one from the beginning. Sorry for any confusion.

I agree with Eddie; unless Guild somehow filled the entire first page of the sub-forum, I don't see anything wrong with it. Personally, if I like a certain LP I'd keep following it regardless of other LPs, as long as it's updated consistently. Plus, Eddie did a really swell job keeping track of all the active LPs. In any case, I'm pretty sure Guild can't keep up this kind of pace forever. This is not a challenge by the way, Guild.

That said, a suggestion: if personal megathread is a no-no, how about stuffing your shorter LPs that can be done in under a day/specific challenge LPs (like this latest Aladdin maybe) in the Micro-thread LP? Meanwhile, longer & meatier stuff like Treasures of Rudra could have its own thread. I acknowledge that it might be harder to attract attention/potential audience if you don't make a separate thread for each game, but that seems to be fair compromise. You can always post here to let your followers know what you're doing next.

Fuck that. Word is Guild is quarantined to his own forum on Bronto
and this ain't Bronto.

This is BS. Guild is making shitty LPs and nobody can deny it.

Guild, you know what I am about and that I am with you have you got to stop doing what you're doing.

Yeah, I'm surprised I've made this many so far. I'm down with Raven's suggestions but I'm awaiting a consensus of some kind. All my threads are hereby on hiatus.

TKFlash: Patently untrue. I'm banned from discussing politics and it was by choice. Thad and I arranged it to set a precedent for the terms under which discussion of politics were allowed because Bronto is a hostile place of vinegar and piss. Logical, reasoned debate is important to both of us and that community's health. It's... a different kind of place there man.

You do know the danger of listening to haters right?

I challenge you to actually read the LPs and treat the marketing as what it is.

And what, therefore, should be the quality yardstick that LPs should be judged against?

Are Guild's LPs my cup of tea? No, but from what I've read of them, I do not find them so offensive that Guild himself should be somehow stopped from doing them.* And if we're being honest, there have been worse LPs run on this forum that have not raised any sort of a fuss.

*the spoilering his updates drives me up the wall, but that's not a very good reason to attack him.

In addition, why should anyone be upset with what Guild is doing, anyway? This was specifically brought up during the discussion to eliminate the queue, and rejected as a concern; in fact, we assuaged some members' concerns that they would be unable to do exactly this (see: Brickroad worrying that the loss of his YouTube thread would mean he couldn't constantly chain video series).

If everyone was fine with a person doing a lot of small LPs in a row while we were discussing the changes, why would they be upset that someone is actually doing that?

As Guild as violated no rules, there is nothing to say, beyond recommendations. Guild can take those or leave them as he chooses.

I imagine he'll listen to some of the comments raised here, he seems like a reasonable fellow.

My only complaint w/ his LPs are the popspoilers, which I may remove myself at some point, they don't make loading any faster and serve no real purpose.

Ditto.

I think this is a cunning plan by Guild to test how far people actually like that idea.

They prevent the page from jumping around when I scroll to the bottom to read new posts. I don't have a very fast internet connection. That's their only purpose. I don't care if you remove them after they're finished, if that's an acceptable compromise.

I'll be doing an LP of the FEAR series when some schedules match up. Probably going to skip over the expansion packs for Fear 1 just to preserve my sanity. I'm going to be going through offices and warehouses enough as is, but Extraction Point has some of the most Loony Toon shit going on, and I might try getting some video of that.

I'm almost done with Cavequest, and I was thinking I might try a popular game for a change.

I'm not 100%, mainly because I'm having some technical issues (among other things, imgur isn't allowing me to upload large .gifs at the moment, so I had to put that one on tinypic), but if I get it going I'll probably start within the week.
