It... already happened? Like, four hours before you posted that?

Now that I'm no longer burned out after my last mega-length LP, and have downloaded a zip file of every Infocom game, I'd like to try my hand at LP'ing Planetfall.

Verily! I hadn't really checked for new threads before I posted that. Yay!

Yo I'm doing Pac Man 2 the new adventures.
I'm doing it via ghetto ass barely coherent stream videos. |

I had honestly considered LPing Pac-Man 2 when I finished one of my current projects.
Somehow I think this was for the best. |

So somehow in all this Racing Time practice I ended up with three hours of blind Mega Man 6 on my computer in video format. Anyone have a preference between me breaking it down into bite sized bits, or just putting up the entire thing at once so you can mainline it?

I'll claim Super Mario Advance 4. Well, not necessarily the whole remake, but the bonus E-Reader levels which came with the game (of which there are about thirty-three).

I'm putting my claim in for Wonder Project J.

I'd like to claim SNES Aladdin. Why has nobody done this game yet? I'm going to try to do the whole thing in 5 hours flat.
Here goes! |

So are we going to just ignore one man's crusade for the enforcement of a bare minimum effort rule or what?

As someone who is doing a long-form LP that only can update a couple days a week and craves audience feedback, I'm not thrilled that mine is getting pushed down constantly by this flood of new content. I didn't like the queue, but this is a little bit on the other side of extreme.
And for the record, doing something like trying to LP an entire game in 24-hours would be a Not-worth-its-own-thread venture, I think. |

I don't have a problem with it. Clearly, some people are fans of what Guild's doing. And if you're updating a few times a week, the chances of you being pushed off the front page are pretty slim.

I'm more annoyed by that he doesn't really seem to care what he LPs as long as it gets attention, but that doesn't really break any rules in and of itself.

One would think.

Learning is fun! Can a mod conglomerate all my Lps into a super thread? That sounds awesome. And yeah I do care what I lp. It has to not been done before (where's Aladdin on the op?) prefer blind or beloved by myself, and fun.

No personal superthreads are allowed (we got rid of the youtube channel ones for a reason), but a themed superthread ("16-bit Disney games" for example) might be appropriate. PM Falselogic to see if he'll approve any themed threads you might have an idea for to see if they're okay.

Or just put your 5-hour LPs (and similar) into the micro-LP thread. I don't think anyone's currently occupying it. I think the Aladdin LP was the first one that was small enough--and required little enough input--that it didn't really warrant a thread of its own. Treasure of the Rudras is a 40-hour RPG; I don't think anyone's arguing that doesn't deserve its own thread.

Or just keep doing what you're doing. People wouldn't be complaining if Guild posted his LPs under separate user accounts.

I didn't say anything about LP count or frequency, I said "bare minimum effort." Did you guys skim that part?
|
#773
|
|||
|

That's a pretty weird assumption since I specifically said one of his projects should have been a NWIOT thing because of the content, not because it was yet another guild LP.
|
#774
|
|||
|
|||
That's pretty untrue. You know how much effort goes into these! I'm surprised by this assessment.

The difference is that Guild rushed through Aladdin, which is maybe not ideal for an LP, but it's also a poor determiner of whether something is worth its own thread. You're essentially saying that if he had waited a week between posting each video in the thread, then it would have been worth its own thread, which is a bizarre line of reasoning. |

Maybe it's just a matter of personal taste, but I don't think making 14 updates in a few hours is a very good LP. Has nothing to do with Guild being Guild, though I do think it's part of his personality to do something like that. NWIOT was a suggestion of a way to maybe make it more appealing, but really I just think it's a bad way to do an LP.

#777

Sure. I can get behind that. I doubt Guild is going to make a habit of it, and it was interesting as a one-time experiment.

I did the lp quickly because I'm fast at image manipulation and typing. When writing it I focused on what about the game was important to me. I don't normally defend myself but in this case I'm defending a subversive brand called "bad Lps by guild" because I enjoy it. But I'll go along with whatever false or Tk or a handful of others decide.

I can understand doing an LP quickly if you have nothing else weighing you down at the moment. But doing five LPs in rapid succession, each very quickly, while at the same time saying "hey these LPs suck don't read them"?
This is going to raise eyebrows, and rightly so, no matter who you are. |
