Speaking of queues: I'd like to take a slot this month to run a Guessing Time thread.

Speaking of test posts:

Hi guys! Who wants to play Guessing Time? What, you don't know it? It's simple! I need two players. Each player gets one of these four boards:

Tyrants board A!

Tyrants board B!

Game characters board 1!

Game characters board 2!

Each player will also receive via PM an image of one tyrant/character from their opponent's board. Players then take turns asking yes/no questions to figure out which person their opponent is holding. Questions may be about the image (is your tyrant's avatar a human?), or they may be about the tyrant/character (has your tyrant done any LPs?/is your character from a Final Fantasy?). Try to make it something your opponent has a chance to figure out - if they answer wrong, you're the one who'll lose! The first player to correctly guess their opponent's identity wins!

Still don't get it? Allow me to demonstrate!

In this scenario, Yimothy is playing against Yimothy. Yimothy has been allocated Tyrant board A, and his game identity (from his opponent's board) is Yimothy. Yimothy, on the other hand, has been allocated Tyrant board A, and his game identity (from his opponent's board) is Yimothy.

Yimothy goes first:

And sees that it is. He replies:

And sees that he is (Yimothy picked a pretty poor question - all the tyrants in the game are Yimothy's favourites. That's why they were included! (this is a joke, please don't take offence if you're not on the game board)). He also amends his board to reflect the answer to his own question, and includes it in his reply:

Yimothy checks again and sees that he is indeed Yimothy.

And there you have it! Simple, no?

For the first game, one player will have Tyrant board A, and the other will have Tyrant board B (unlike in the example above, the players will not be the same person, will not have the same person, and will not use the same board). This will require a decent level of participation: you'll need to edit and repost the board to remove tyrants you've eliminated after each answer, and I'd prefer if we weren't waiting days on end for responses. Audience members are encouraged to help players figure out which faces on the board fit the questions asked.

Any volunteers?

P.S. If anyone's wondering why a lot of the game characters have the wrong names, it's because I made this game as a festivus present for Brickroad. Many of the game characters have had their names changed to the ones he used in his LPs or mentioned on his blog as having used when he played the games or whatever. If anyone's wondering why some tyrants have the wrong avatars, it's because those jerks changed them after I collected the images. Or, in Mogri's case, because he once had an avatar from one of my LPs, and as far as I'm concerned he still does.
I can start pretty much immediately (I'll pretty much just put the above into a new thread). How long it'll take depends on the participants. I figure once I've sent out PMs, I won't need to be involved again until the next game starts, though I might sub players in if someone hasn't responded after a while. You guys interested?

Also, if the feeling is that this would be better suited to meatspace, I can take it in there instead.

So I'm not board-worthy? :P (Yeah, I only post here and occasionally in the Video Games board, I am not surprised that I'm not included in that avatar collection.)

Sorry man! I mostly picked up the avatars by going through a few threads in the pit of flames and a couple mafia games, so it's pretty random. A few I sought out deliberately (myself, Brick, Parish, Percy etc.), and I added an extra two rows today (mostly people who'd commented on it in the festivus thread) but it's just luck of the draw.

Sounds like a fun idea to me! Reminds me of Guess Who -- I played way too much of that as a kid.

I really love this kind of game, but being in different timezone and limited time to post would be a problem I guess

It's time to think about my traditional big summer LP. Hmm, how about we put in a nice reserve for Final Fantasy VIII? Yes, that would look good there.

Squall = Ross, Quistis = Monica, Zell = Joey, Selphie = Phoebie, Irvine = Chandler, Rinoa = Rachel.

Revisiting ideas to get more eyeballs on the TT LP forum. I was planning to make a quick plug video this week so my YT subscribers would catch my guest appearances in McDohl's Roguecraft series and my FF2 LP. I might be able to grab some more eyeballs if I plugged some of or other top-tier LPs as well.

If you guys had to pick, say, five LPs done on Talking Time to be both exceedingly excellent and well-represented of our little forum culture, which would you pick? Or is this a thing I shouldn't do?

Correct Answer = 1) Princess Tomato, 2) Princess Tomato, 3) Princess Tomato, 4) Princess Tomato, 5) Princess Tomato.

I went through the last dozen or so pages and here's what stood up:
* Mogri's 7th Saga LP.
* Elements' EVO LP
* Kalir and Eternal Darkness

also: pretty much any OctoPrime stuff and Falsie's QFG LPs

Do you mean what stood out? Because if you actually mean that everything else doesn't stand up, then ouch.

It's my birthday today and I was lazy, so instead of getting out of bed, I started browsing TT on my phone and I ran into this. It was a good birthday present.

Anyway, I was going to say Brick's FF2, but then I saw it was Brick who was asking, so that's probably already covered, sooooo... I'm gonna have to give a shout out to Yimothy's Wonder Boy LPs and their amazing GIFs.

If you're more focused on the TT culture, then Clash at Demonhead and Princess Tomato are obvious picks.

Seconding this. Off the top of my head, Brick's FF2 and Suikoden threads and Mogri's 7th Saga LP are pretty sweet as well; I'll probably be able to think of more LPs later on.

In the meantime, I would like a February slot for Star Stealing Prince, please.

There are still two openings for this month! Did you make a New Year's Resolution to do an awesome LP?

Now is the perfect time to do it!

I've been tossing around the idea of Let's Playing Colonization (keeping with my somewhat educational games theme), but I'm unsure of how to structure it and wanted to see what people think.

I want to do something like my Mario is Missing LP with maps and info and stuff, but I find the realistic America map to be kind of weird to play on, I've never actually been able to get all the way to declaring independence using that map. But if we use a map I make in the game I won't have stuff to link so I'm worried about burning out and not getting any comments like how my SimLife LP ended (although to be fair a lot of the burnout was due to my computer dying and refusing to take screenshots most of the time).

I'm thinking of doing an easy mode fast playthrough on the America map which is a structured way of introducing the game, and if there's still interest (both audience and me) then moving to a map we make in the game. Would people have any interest in that?

Oh, and it would be the 90s version on a Mac if that matters.
