Well, I don't know for sure. Our laptop doesn't exactly have its own SD card port, but it might work. The photos seem to work with the Wii's photo viewing thing fine.

I look forward to hand-illustrated adventures!
Will this coloring exercise complete the game, or is it just the next segment? |

You know, someday someone should do a group FF1 LP where 6 people each take one of the classes and does a solo.
In DoS of course; nobody should go through the hell that is the original FF1 Thief Solo. |

and we had the dueling solo black vs white mage LP.
I'd rather see a dueling group FF VI LP, where you do a fantasy-football-like draft of all possible characters, and whenever possible use only those characters. Just so we see more of them in action. There's quite a few places you can't pick your party. Perhaps it'd be best to start in the World of Ruin save-stated for this one? |

The FF6 one would get interesting... Also yeah- WoR would be a better place to start... Maybe we should do something like that when Lucas and Sky Render are done with their LP of it :P
Or better yet: FF5 with a group of 6 or so people who hack all job classes in and do what teams they liked... THAT would get hectic fast! |

I might be willing to give that a shot eventually. I've been reluctant at doing that kinda thing at first because of dead weight, but a Forever Red (Mage) run in DoS intrigues me...especially since RM's been significantly nerfed in the newer versions.

Ooooooh, funtastic. I'd (probably, schedule willing) do it. Someone would have to be Blue Mages, though; spending the entire race tinkering with their car, only to blow past everyone else in the final stretch. And the Berserker player would hit a very narrow wall an hour in and spend the rest of the LP ramming it head-first.
Problem though; aren't there some enemies that require magic attacks? Outside of the Fork Tower, that is. I haven't played in a while, but I seem to recall a bit of the FF3 forced party shifting. |

Man, I would totally do the FFV thing. I was tempted to start a new FFV playthrough last night, actually. And I love me some blue mages. Damn. Maybe I'll just do this for fun.

If we could wait till April, I'd totally be up for being part of a group FF emulator playthrough. I need to get my LP feet wet. And FF V/VI are my secret best FF games.

I don't remember which forum it was on exactly (I wanted to say here, but Penny Arcade forums is probably where it was), but they had a FFV challenge where you were given four classes, one per crystal, and were restricted to those classes, one per character. At the first crystal all party members needed to be of the same class, at the second an even split, and at the third a 2-1-1 split doubling on any valid class. I believe class changes were allowed as long as class constraints were followed.
Might be an interesting "Let's All Play" project. EDIT: Ah, yes, my memory did not completely fail me. Link |

Okay, I have to admit, that FFV idea sounds awesome.
But whoever gets a Chemist and a Blue Mage on their team is going to kill everything. |

There is nothing secret about them being the best.

Wait, could I even GET White Wind with that setup? I think you have to go White Mage at the first class and just gut it out. |

I would so play this idea with random jobs selected. Even though I never played anything past the Big Bridge in FFV.

I think it would be better if there was just this huge pool of jobs and it was first come first serve for what you get. That way some people could breeze through with super teams (thus showing how easy the game can be), while others would have to be really imaginative to get by (thus showing some of the cooler tricks in the game).
Freelancer will probably have to be banned though. It's useless without other Jobs. |

Better idea: FANTASY DRAFT! (which dwolfe mentioned above in relation to FFVI, but it makes more sense here)
1. Four rounds... assuming we're doing this SNES-style. 2. Each person drafts a job with a subsequent post. 3. For the later crystal dumps, you can pick the class more than once if needed for everyone to get a class. 4. In the spirit of "No Gretzky / Shaq", no Mimic. 5. Snake Rules EG I pick Archer in round 1, but then by the time it comes back around I may not be able to pick anyone other than Monk from the first class. Does Blue Mage go first overall? What job gets picked last? INTRIGUE! This idea cannot fail to be awesome. As resident commissioner of the TTFL (soon to go into my third year once I beat up on RH this weekend), I will administrate. Totally would be in on an FF5 draft LP, depending on when it starts and how far in to my FF9 LP I am...which starts in a week or so. OH CRAP.

If we're going to do a group FF5 LP, we need to plan it in advance. April was thrown out there as a decent starting time, and that seems fair. If nothing else, it gives us three to four months for the more busy of us to clear up our schedules. I suggest we move the discussion over to the IRC channel at some point so we don't clog up this LP.

I dunno, I kind of like the random aspect. Though I feel sorry for the guy that got W Mage, Time Mage, Thief & Bard.

Bards are incredibly useful. It's Berserkers that you must pity.

Ever bring a Berserker to the Sandworm fight? It's a disaster.

There are some minor details that need to be addressed though.
Would this theoretical FF5 LP be done on the Advance version, or the original? If it's the former, do you have to do the fairly monotonous postgame segment too? Do you have to face Omega/Shinryu? What happens if someone gets a Samurai and Black Mage on their team and can thus abuse Gil Cave to get Zenigage fuel? |

Yeah, but if I have the rules right, you're going through the game with four white mages, then two whites/two times, then white, time & two thieves. It's a long game before the chicken knife and love song.

That's why a fantasy draft is so much better than the lame random thing. Strategy is always better than randomness.

I've participated in one of GAF's random-draw four-Job things, and it sucked. I ended up with more or less unusable classes, and it turned my attempt into sheer tedium. So, I strongly vote against the random-draw approach -- or at the very least, leave the option open for people to have more choice should they wish it.
