HSUP B TCELES - Let's Play FF1! Again!

This is what I love most about the FF series. Rather than releasing the same game over and over like some other companies, they constantly innovate.

Stuff like fighting over whether Tempest is a sword or SwdTech for Cyan, people insisting that you're not a ��$TRUE FAN�$�� unless you buy every port ever, and the little prepubescent twatbags that cry "TROLL!" whenever someone tries to make a reasonable argument without resorting to words like "sucks" or "WTF" like they do are why I don't bother with GameFAQs forums anymore.

It's people like those that make me embarassed to like the Final Fantasy series, though my waning interest has more to do with my love for how Dragon Quest does things and FF still sticking to its cinematic six-shooters a bit too much.

Randomly, I just realized that Kirin (the esper) is a giraffe thing with what seems to be a very heavy head. I always thought it was a goat. And now I can't unsee it.

Kirin is a Kirin (which is sometimes a word for giraffe, but mostly the mythical thing).

Kirin is #1 in my book.

Holy hell, I just noticed the neck thing too. Weeeeiiiird.

Yeah, I have to admit I did notice the correct anatomy of the sprite a while *after* I started using it as my online avatar. Though that was over a decade ago now.

Holy crap.....why didn't I ever notice that Kirin neck thing before? A revelation like this is like going back to Monster Party and realizing what you thought was a dead spider looks more like a dead dinosaur. =(

I noticed it a month or so ago... I didn't think it was worth commenting on though.

The placement of its head is exactly where it would be if it had a short neck, and the negative space in the sprite looks like an antler.

But it already has antlers on its forehead. And in-game, the negative space is identifiable as the background.

But seriously, against most of the backgrounds in-game, the negative space looks like a big mane of hair around the neck and he's rarely summoned enough for me to really get a close look at him (because really, who needs Regen in FFVI?) - it's only now looking at it against white space that I notice it's actually a long neck.

He's also one of the Seven Lucky God Martial Artists!

You assume I ever bother using summons in FFVI.

How many of you ever noticed that Shoat's neck is the same way, just without the negative space?

Funny enough, I recently replayed the game trying to not break it and used summons a lot for bosses. Kirin is great because it's a full-party Regen.

You just ruined my image of FF6 summons... Good thing I was the person with max leves and hacked in Illuminas... XD

I'm not sure I've played a single game where the summons were more useful than traditional attacks/magic.

If you grind out little gods, no. But if you play without grinding, especially early on, they can be great.

Kirin for party regen
I think the elemental ones are better than -ara spells for weaknesses.
Golem for defense.
Shoat for most world of balance bosses.
Phoenix for "oh shit"
