Hydra/Tiamat = Venger
Behemoth = Betsy And good god, the PSX script for "the stones aren't inherently evil" is nigh-incomprehensible. I guess it means we had to deal with the 'problem' of figuring out what the hell Ramza meant until the PSP version came out. |

.... What does it mean, anyway?

In short, it's what Zef said: the stones themselves are powerful, but they're not inherently evil. There are two ways you can go with this.
The first is the idea that not all the stones contain "Lucavi" or demons or whatever in them. This is unlikely, given that if only certain stones were 'cursed' as it were, then why would people like Vormav looking for all of them? I mean, sucks if you get a stone with no demon inside! It's be like a Kinder Surprise egg with no toy in the middle. The second is to view the stones as tools that sort of amplify desire. "Evil" desire creates (or revives) the Lucavi, and the price you pay for desiring such power is that you lose your soul/body. "Good" desire however, let's you do awesome things like revive the dead and make robots move. But is there a price to pay when you do awesome instead of evil? That I'm not sure of, and the game leaves that question intentionally vague (which is probably for the best). I think the truth is this: Zodiac Stones give you cool boss fights, and otherwise are used to do impossible and/or silly things for the benefit of your party. Well, I consider Malak a benefit to any of my parties, but your results might differ. - Eddie |

I make no secret of the fact that I consider speed to be the only really important stat in this game (and many others). If you can survive the solo Weigraf battle and not realise how important speed is... well, Riovanes Rooftops should get the message through. Auto-Potion cheapness won't save your ass here! A group with a Ninja or two (Red Chocobo works in a pinch) should have no trouble regardless of Rafa's AI. Quote:

Although... this speculation is all based on the original script. I suppose the WotL script says something completely different? |

I checked the one on gamefaqs, and it says essentially the same thing - but in a much clearer way. I haven't actually play that far yet to verify it, though.

And come to think of it, isn't it odd that Vormav would leave one of the Zodiac Stones just lying around near Izlude's body for anyone's taking? Maybe it's associated with a Lucavi that Ramza has already slain, and he would therefore consider its power "spent," but still... |

Hence, Izlude is able to pass it onto Alma. But why Izlude has a stone in the first place after being captured by Barinten is a really good question. I'll give an ol'fashioned Marvel "no prize" to whoever can come up with the best explanation why! - Eddie |

ITT: we learn the limits of the iPad's Safari memory buffer. That last LP post on the previous page came back as a bunch of empty boxes and the browser ground to a halt!
"Women have more hiding places than men." No, wait, that doesn't work here. Never mind. |

I can link to the posts individually in the first post if you think that would prevent such a thing from happening again. - Eddie |

I read this as: You are trying with all of your power to make sure that Percy is a Page 3 girl.

Naw, you shouldn't have to jump through hoops because the iPad is anemic.

Oh wow, the week I couldn't read much Talking Time at work is the week BARD BATTLE happened.
That was great, Eddie! When I did that I was lame and maxed out Ramza's stats so he could ROCK strum at Velius for crazy damage. |

Regarding Rafa and Malak: I've ridden the hate train as much as anyone else, but they did something to Rafa the make her stupid powerful in War of the Lions. I swear her attacks have more charges, hit their targets more often, and hit harder. She's great.
Malak's attacks still blow though since they rely on low faith and many units in the game have a above average or high faith. |

Rafa is amazing in War of the Lions. I turned her into a party mainstay as soon as she joined up. She would frequently land ten -- yes, ten -- successful hits in a single turn.

I like Rafa and Malak because they attack with philosophy. What the hell.
Rafa is ok right from the get-go and is fun to build up (as is Reis, <3.) Malak is too much work for me though. Also, Faith and Innocent are reversed for him. You'd think he'd benefit from Innocent, but nope. Give the man a Faith Rod and he can rock out with Back-Truth Un-Truth and normal magic at the same time. |

I just want to say that Temple Knight is my favorite playable special class. Ramza's Squire in Chapter 4 is close, though.
