Accumulate is a great skill, it's just in a horrible skill set. Throw Stone is useful for everyone in the early game, not just physical attackers, and getting Accumulate means gathering 300 JP that could have been gained in a better class, not to mention that said different class probably has better level up gains than Squire does.

I mean, if you have the spare JP, go ahead. In the long run it's not worth getting unless you're specifically trying to master Squire. Move +1 is a much better investment.

Accumulate lets you gain JP on all those turns when you're moving within attacking range. Buff the attackers, and grind at the same time? Seems like two birds with one stone to me.

I vote that one character learns accumulate and one doesn't so that you can show us how those 300 jp are much better spent.

Ditto.

I used Guts haste + attack + auto-potion + sub-ability ninja per the FAQ for Wiegraf, and haste gear for Riovanes per the FAQ and just used Orlandeau for the rest.

I really should do without him on my second run. But I'm scared!

I usually skip Accumulate because I hate the seconds I waste using it on every turn that a character has nothing more productive to do more than I want the JP and EXP.

clear that you actually have to place more than just Ramza on the blocks (as seen in the first screenshot below). So,
especially after a fight where you only control on character, I give no grief to those who didn't think to start hitting 'L1'
or 'R1' after putting Ramza down.

I mean, look at the screen! It lists several buttons you can press, but the buttons to 'flip through your roster' is not
one of them.
I did this three or four times in a row. It was making me quite unhappy. Now, of course, I just put all the squires in with one chemist, set them to autobattle, and go make a sandwich.

Junk is my favorite character so far.

I'm sorry, but Mediators are the best class, because they bring peaceful resolutions to all conflicts. And when talks break down, they're the only generic class that can equip guns.

And I happen to believe that there is nothing on earth better suited for solving disputes then a six-shooter loaded with magical ice-balls.

Sorry Octo, but the only thing Mediators are good for are boring enemies to sleep.

On the other hand: Oracles can magically castrate enemies, then poke them to death with their sticks that have a 2 panel range and deal damage based on their MA instead of their PA.

Also, Chemists equip guns.

And the Mediators talk circles around the Oracles until they fall asleep... after agreeing to join forces!

Because Mediators are awesome like that!

I request a character who can turn enemies into frogs and cast fire.

I demand to see some female geomancer/ninja/dancer action. If you can tolerate bards, use one at least once.

I love the job system in this and FFV, but I never finished either of them. I think I must be nmore of a story-based RPG player. Mayeb this LP will inspire me to get back into it though.

It's due to the cost of their starting equipment being different. Females come with a dagger, males with a broad sword. The females will actually do more damage with the dagger than they would with the sword, so it's doubly in their favor.

My first time, Ramza had bad zodiac with Wiegraf and Auto-Potion, so it was an easy fight. I used Elemental for a while, then attacked from behind.

If I'm taking it easy, Ramza (as a Zodiac with good compat) will be a Wizard w/ Holy, and lots of magic attack boosters. It's usually a 1-hit kill.

I have never done the Yell/Accumulate thing, but I did do a slower/crappier version of the same thing with Ramza as a Bard....

This thread has inspired me to listen to the game's sublime soundtrack -- again, as I usually listen to parts of it on a weekly basis. It's at least half of the reason I feel the game is so near perfect.

I'd also like to see an artist's depiction of my personal favorite Tactics strategy of having Ramza Yelling and Screaming around the battlefield, especially once he gets fast enough to have like 30 turns in a row. That's lightspeed, yo!

My fight with the Zodiac Beat form of Weigraf was more special to me; I remember I was using a blue dragon at the time, and with my other four members dead and my dragon at critical health, hitting him with a thunder 'bracelet' that finally dealt the bastard in.

I'm glad other people have started playing the game again, and am depressed at how quickly you guys have made it so far! The next update is in progress!

This is another one of those games that I keep buying and never play (like Suikoden!).

Enjoying it so far, and I appreciate the extra time you take in explaining the mechanics to people like me who have never played it (despite owning it like, 3 separate times on PS1),

Nice rationalization for an unapologetic manifestation of the innate sexism of an entire culture. Kudos!
