Szalls well that ends well! Rifle through the spear-holder's stuff! Maybe he'll have his Demon ID card on him.

Trample the weak. Hurdle the dead.
And take their stuff.

I believe in giving a fair and equal shake to demi-humans on affairs related to helghast imposters.

Steal that impending corpses backpack and listen to what that goblin has to say.

If Killzone taught me anything, it's that the helghast are bad, bad people. We must prove the goblins' story one way or the other before we doing anything else.

Yeah. I apologize for the lack updates over the past month. I've switched to a different shift at work and for the first time in about eight years I have to get up and go to bed early like a real person, instead of my normal trollish late night habits. It's taken some adjusting and I haven’t quite learned how to budget my free time yet.

But I haven’t quit! I've drawn the next picture and I'm planning on doing an update today. I'm working on getting back into the flow of things so we'll see!

I think the people following the Lone Wolf series are pretty patient, Loki. We've been really enjoying the updates when they come (and I LOVE the illustrations!!).

....although....is that guy with the spear in his chest still alive after a week? if so, I want to double vote for killing the guy.

Believe it or not you guys chose to trust a thing! Time to partake in the time-honored tradition of looting.

Quote:
320. You search in his pack and are horrified to find that it contains a scroll of human skin upon which a message has been written in a strange runic script. The only word that you can make out is 'Kai'. You also find an evil-looking dagger with a black blade, and a block of cold obsidian.

Quote:
These items bear the signs of the Darklords' craft. Something is very wrong here. You drop the pack as quickly as if it were red-hot and turn to mount your horse. To your dismay, you find it is no longer there: the Szalls must have stolen it. Wearily, you realize you will now have to continue your journey on foot.

Turn to 138.
GOSH NO! Not another one! Well, you know what they say: "Unlucky with horses, lucky at... um... ball... spin... gambling."

Quote:
138. You have been walking for nearly two hours when you reach the peak of a hill and see the Durenor forest stretched out before you. The road bears eastwards and enters the trees at a point where a large wooden tower has been built. You can see the silhouette of a soldier on guard.

Quote:
If you wish to continue on your journey towards the watchtower, turn to 232.

If you would rather avoid the guard, make a wide detour and enter the forest further south by turning to 244.
If I know you guys as well as I think I do you'll want me to make a bee-line strait for that tower.

Quote:
You are less than twenty yards from the tower when the guard steps forward and demands to know your business. You notice that the soldier is wearing the red coat of a Durenese man-at-arms, and realize that you have reached the border of Durenor. You need to find some way of getting past him.
Where the hell is Durenor? I'm really lost. Alls I knows is that I needs to be on the ocean.

Quote:
If you have the Kai Discipline of Sixth Sense, turn to 149.

If you decide to say you are a merchant on your way to Port Bax, turn to 250.

If you decide to offer him a bribe, turn to 68.

If you want to show him the Seal of Hammerdal (if you still have it), turn to 223.
I spidey sense the guy. What ho, guy?

Quote:
149. You can sense that this guard is a loyal Durenese soldier. If you were to attempt to bribe him, he would be likely to consider it a grave insult and attack you.

If you wish to show him the Seal of Hammerdal, turn to 223.

If you would prefer not to show it, if you do not have it, or if you wish to pretend to be a merchant on your way to Port Bax, turn to 250.
What a waste. And I don't remember loosing the seal or even having it I guess I'm left with no choice.

Quote:
250. The soldier looks at you with a disbelieving stare.

'Where are your goods? Where is your horse or wagon? Merchants never travel to Port Bax on foot. You are no merchant--a bandit more like, desperate to put distance between yourself and some foul deed best left untold. Go back to where you have come from, scum. We have no need of the sort of goods you sell.'

If you are to get past this border guard alive, you will have to come up with an alternative plan.

If you wish to walk away, make a wide detour and enter the forest further south, turn to 244.

If you want to try and bribe the guard, turn to 68.

If you choose to reveal the Seal of Hammerdal (if you still possess it), turn to 223.
Well now I know he won't take a bribe. But man, I do NOT want to go back into any forest.

Quote:
68. The guard's expression changes to a sneer of contempt. 'I am a soldier of Durenor. Your gold will not help you here.'

Unfortunately you have insulted his honour and he intends to teach you a harsh lesson.

Turn to 306.
He demands satisfaction!

Quote:
306. The soldier stabs at your chest with his spear, but you quickly sidestep and it merely grazes your arm. The guard is determined to fight but you do not want to have to kill him in combat, so you decide to try and knock him unconscious.

Fight the following combat as normal, but double all ENDURANCE points lost by the enemy. When his score reaches zero or below, you will have succeeded in knocking him out. All ENDURANCE points that you lose still count as wounds and are deducted from your current ENDURANCE points total.

Border Guard: COMBAT SKILL 16 ENDURANCE 24

If you successfully reduce his points to zero or below, turn to 35.
Combat ratio: 16 - 16 = 0. A fair fight!

Round 1
I poked a 5! We circle around each other, this guy and I, each brandishing our spears. Thinking quickly I point behind he and exclaim "What's that?!" but the guard is too wily for me and doesn't turn around. Therefor he's rewarded with a spear to the eye instead of the back of his head. He takes 7 iris damage and I take 2 old-and-tiresome-routine damage. I'm down to 23 endurance.

Round 2
Nine! I rush at the guy skewering from head to toe dealing 12 points of overkill damage. His guts spill on the road as his body slides slowly down by spear.

I've succeeded at knocking him out!

Quote:
35. Stepping over the unconscious soldier, you quickly dash past the tower into the forest.
What!?

Quote:
If more guards appear they are likely to attack first and ask questions later.

You have been walking for over two hours when you come to a fork in the road by a stunted oak tree.

If you have the Kai Discipline of Tracking, turn to 13.

If you wish to take the left fork, turn to 155.

If you wish to take the right fork, turn to 293.
I don't have Tracking so... LEFT!

Quote:
155. After travelling a mile along the left track, you arrive at a long stone bridge. At first glance, the river that it crosses seems to be swollen and in danger of flooding the banks. Then you realize that this is the Rymerift. The waters of the Rymerift are two miles across at the widest point and over a mile deep for most of its length. Here, the land has slipped away and a natural gap has appeared separating Durenor from the rest of Magnamund.

There is a signpost at the entrance to the stone bridge.

Port Bax--3 Miles
You breathe a sigh of relief, for you are on the correct path and should be in the city within the hour.

Turn to 265.
So close! I didn't even know I was going the right way!

Quote:
265. At dusk on the tenth day of your quest, you experience your first sight of the magnificent city of Port Bax. Like a diamond set in the green velvet shore, the towers of the city glimmer in the pale light of a waxing moon. To the north is the harbour and the formidable war fleet of the Durenese navy. To the east, beyond the moss-covered city wall, stretches the forest of Durenor. And there, on the crest of a hill, stands a castle tall and proud, the crowning glory of this beautiful port.

You enter Port Bax through an unguarded gate in the green city wall, and make your way through the darkening streets towards the harbour.

As you turn into a tree-lined avenue, you notice the wide stone steps of a domed building to your right. You stop to read the brass plaque.

CITY HALL

Despite the late hour, the main doors are open.

If you have the Kai Discipline of Tracking, turn to 252.

If you wish to enter the city hall, turn to 84.

If you wish to continue on your way towards the harbour, turn to 191.
At last! And it only took ten days (felt a lot longer, didn't it?). Now I know you guys like to rush in, guns a-blazzin'...

but remember, Talking Time, you can't fight City Hall. SHOULD I AVOID MORE BAD PUNS OR SHOULD I ENTER THE HALL?

I don't see how you can go anywhere but City Hall.

Also, loved the note written on a face. Somehow I don't think that's what the book meant when it said "human skin".

Yeah, you totally had the Seal of Hammerdal. We didn't tragically lose it at sea, like some other wimps called Lone Wolf might have done.

And city hall is where it's at. Maybe the Mayor is Mike Haggar and you could get some tips about Szall busting from him.

I'm late to the party! Did I miss it? I'd hate to miss it. We've established that we hate the water and the water hates us.

Ain't no party like a city hall party 'cause a city hall party don't stop!

City Hall! City Hall!

......

I want to incorporate Lone Wolf into a DnD campaign; can I borrow the art from this thread? I don't know how I'd do it but I can't stop thinking about this now.

Funny, since Dever used to play in old D&D competition-type stuff (the "about the author" part always mentioned how he was an "expert Dungeons & Dragons player" or something along those lines).

Finished this book in the breeze. The second one was much longer, but alas, I was a little bit disappointed with the ending...I raise my sword and insta-kill the big bad. What a surprise!

Well, that's not a joke, that's kind of true, since he (presumably) hasn't been married to another (presumably) human before, so the thread did come first.

Well, I'm married now, and honeymooned, and done with the huge time sink that was the winter musical. Let me see... I think... could it be? Yes, free time! I don't believe it! That means I can finally finish this Let's Play and avoid the horrible shame of it wasting away in the "abandoned" section.

Wait. What am I talking about? "Wedding?" "Musical?" The sun must be getting to me. I've been standing on this street corner for far too long. It feels like I've been waiting here for months. I'm really out of sorts. Let me check my inventory and make sure I'm not missing anything.

Let's see... I have:
A Backpack
A crystal star
The seal of Hammerdall!
A shield which provides +2 to combat
A Spear
A Warhammer
Gredlen's Blanket
An occult scroll of human skin
An evil dagger
and 19 gold.

Likewise I'm trained in the Kai arts of Hunting, Camouflage, Healing, Sixth Sense, Mindblast, and Animal Kinship, and I've got 25 endurance

Yep, everything seems to be in order. Let's go visit City Hall!

Quote:
84. Just inside the main door sits a kindly old man with a long beard. He is studying a huge leather-bound book that rests on a lectern before him. He has not noticed you enter the city hall.

If you wish to ask him the way to the consulate of Sommerlund, turn to 211.

If you wish to leave and try to find your own way there, turn to 191.
Well, I'll just... oh-no! I forgot that I have no will of my own, Talking Time. HELP A BROTHER OUT?

Alright! I was following this LP before I joined TT (I actually have all these books, and most of the Greystar ones, and even the setting book) and it's great to see it making a comeback.

I suggest we ask the nice man for directions. After all, we did come all this way to see city hall.

I've almost forgotten what city this is, let alone its halls... let's ask for directions and get our bearings.
