I was hacking FE8. I totally turned random people into trainees.

Just wanted to note that while I've been following this thread, FE as a whole seems pretty damn bland to me.

That LP is genius (it works especially well for FE1 where most of the characters are blank slates to begin with). Too bad it's on hiatus, I guess I'll check out his other LPs. It's kinda wierd that half the people on that thread seem to hate FE...

Considering SA has a LP for FE1, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 going on right now in basically the exact same format (though 9's pretty much stopped), everyone's just getting bored.

The stat boosts have been added! Cath got +6 Strength, +2 Defense, and +2 Luck, Lilina got +2 Defense, Fir got +4 Strength, and Gonzales (who Eddie asked to get everything, so I just gave him what was left after distributing to the others) got +8 Skill and +7 Speed. The unused stat boosters (+2 Strength, +3 Speed) are going to go to Cecilia.



This chapter is a pain in the ass. Not only is it a desert stage, but it's also timed. Thankfully the timer is lenient (25 turns), but failing means you won't get Forblaze.

This map's treasures are a Silence, some Boots, a Silver Blade, a Warp, a Talisman, a Silver Card, and a Guiding Ring if you bring Sophia to the other side of the map.



Since he's capped Strength, Speed, and Skill, there's no point to keeping Gonzales unpromoted. But instead of making him a Berserker…



I'm going to change his class into something more fitting.



Oh wow, he even fits the palette.



There's one more person getting a promotion right now. Roy normally has to wait until the very end of the game to promote, but I'm just going to let him promote now. I won't be giving him any stat boosts (not like he needs them), and I'm not giving him the Sword of Seals. I'm just going to change his class to Master Lord.



Interestingly enough, the King class counts as an Armor Knight. As such, the desert subtracts 5 Move from Gonzales (the desert already subtracts 2, and Armor Knights lose an additional 3). The game designers weren't sadistic, though, so they made it so that you can always move at least one panel.



Oh wow, a class that wasn't Thief managed to pick up an item. How lucky!



Thany also got a pretty severe penalty, but she's got Physic so it's alright.

Anyways, the actual chapter. Since most of my units can barely move, Alan and Sue are going to just be flying all over the place killing things.



Turns out there are enemy Mages with Aircalibur, so I guess I'll have to be more careful about this.

How does Lugh keep getting extra baked tarts? Is Lowen biased towards people with green hair?





These two (Berserkers) show up on Turn 7 along with some Bandits. They're more trouble than it's worth to kill in my opinion.

Turn 10 and the chapter is basically over. I've even gotten the treasures I wanted (Boots, Warp, and the Guiding Ring).



I'd complain, but Alan really does need Skill.




Ugh, this stage.



Not only do I have to navigate through sinking platforms, I have to deal with these asshole promoted magic units. The two Sages both have Bolting, and the Druid on the left is packing an Eclipse. Also, with the exception of the boss all of them are holding a Physic.

Besides that, though, there's nothing special about this chapter. It's just a slog to the center with the constant fear of death from above.

Unlike the FE7 version, where one panel wide pathways simply sunk or rose, FE6's water temple has strips of panels randomly sink. If your unit is right next to shore, they can climb out of the water. If they're not, they're just stuck there.





God damn it.





The boss of this stage is a cheater. Despite the fact that his hit chance with Bolting maxes out at like 50%, every time he has attacked he has hit. This bastard is responsible for a massive amount of resets.

But guess what?



Payback is a bitch.



By the way, I am horrified that all Sages don't wear pants because of this guy.



There's another problem with Roy. As you might recall, he only promotes at the end of the game. Because of this, his promoted form has very low caps, most notably only 25 for Strength, Speed, and Skill. The Sword of Seals and Roy's many Supports make up for this, but Roy is still probably the overall weakest of the GBA Lords.

Igrene's not good but she's not bad either.

After the last two chapters, this map is refreshingly easy. In fact, it’s so easy that





I can finish it in two turns! I won’t of course, but just keep in mind that Warp is really broken in this game.



Igrene is going to spend the rest of the chapter parked in forests.





Lilina has to talk to Garret to recruit him, so I’ll just dump her here. It was a pretty frightening experience for Sue though; a Valkyrie with an Aircalibur attacked her. Thankfully, she somehow missed twice with a 74% hit chance.



I need a word to express my disgust with this game‘s random number system. *loads state*





Apparently Hard Mode disables the weapon shop in the Trade menu because for the life of me I haven’t been able to find it. As such, I’ve kind of been going through the game so far with very little equipment. That’s really starting to suck, so I need new weapons.

So of course there’s only a magic shop here! God damn it.

I find it kind of amusing how Lilina can just walk up to men two times her size and order them around.





Hell yes! I got another thing to rot away in Merlinus’ storage.





Guys? Can I just hack Sophia’s experience to 99? It’s hard enough raising her without having to restrict her experience to healing.



Anyways, I’ll just drop Sue over here to weaken up the enemy forces a litt-

Fa is basically Chad 2.0. Amazing growths, terrible base stats. Oh, and if you’re wondering a growth that’s over 100% has a chance of giving +2 to a stat if the generated number falls below the ten’s place.

As for Zeiss, he’s excellent. I mean, look! He‘s already capped Strength! Sure hope he keeps that when I start Chapter 50 for real.

Turn Hugh into a servant of Dracula by means of his jealousy and then never use him because the code to unlock him was just a hoax.

You can totally hack Sophia's XP. There are special rules for girls with purple hair.

Fa: Mage or Archer, I'm thinking? Something to give her ranged attacks so she's less likely to die in the attempt to level up.

Douglas: Can stay as he is. That way you'll have one heavy armor guy in the army even though he'll never get used.

Hugh: Bard.

Sorry for how late this update was, but I was busy all day long. Don’t worry though; there’s no voting.



This is another map with way too much stuff to do. Two treasure rooms to raid, two units to recruit, one enemy who must be kept alive, and a shit ton of enemies.



Anyways, despite what millions of other “conquer the castle” games might have told you, the safest entrance is actually the front one. The side entrance has this (respawning) asshole guarding the way,



And this jerk right after him. Not only does have maxed out Skill (the stat that governs critical chance), but he’s also equipped with a Killing Edge.



And if you made it past them, this guy guards the treasure chests.



On the other hand, the only problem with the front entrance is that there’s a door blocking the way and a Bishop with a Purge.





Miledy managed to survive a critical hit, but now she’s in no condition to run through the rest of the castle. I guess I’ll send Sophia to her.



Meanwhile, this chucklefuck can’t be hurt until you go far enough north. Unless you have a Longbow, that is, but I don’t.

Getting Clarine to dodge this took quite a while.





Damn it, Hugh moved east. I guess I’ll have to



Use Warp. Oh well, I guess this works out; I was worried that Geese wouldn’t be able to kill the Mamkute even with a Wyrmslayer, and I’m certain that Roy’s wives can handle themselves (with the exception of Cecilia).



Hugh also asks for money like Farina, but you can haggle the price. Doing so will weaken him though, so don’t bother.



What’s important abour Hugh is this. I won’t be using it for this playthrough, but it’s still a nice thing to have.



I’d like to move Fa forward, but if she gets in the range of the Bishop with Purge she’ll quickly die. I guess I’ll have to wait till the next chapter to level her up.





I would like to interrupt this chapter to say that this guy is a tremendously lucky bastard who has caused way too many resets. Fuck long range magic so much.



Actually, no, I think I’m being too rude. The real problem here is Fir, who has consistently caused resets because she can’t dodge a god damn thing.

For God’s sake Fir, I just need you to survive one turn! One fucking turn! CAN YOU DO THIS FOR ME?



The next fifty-seven random numbers were all low enough to get Fir killed. What the hell is wrong with this game’s RNG?!



After a long while I eventually decided that if the game was going to cheat like that, so would I.



So then the game turned its wrath on Geese, who had even lower chances of death! Thankfully though, it didn’t take forever to engineer Geese’s survival.



Time for the final challenge of this chapter: keeping Douglas alive. It’s actually not really that hard. Just talk to him with Lalum/Elphin.

After that talk, Douglas will stop moving. Or at least that’s what I remembered, but since he proceeded to attack Geese, either I was completely wrong or he keeps on moving on Hard mode.









Mamkutes have a pretty big weakness: they have terrible Resistance. Magic users with high Speed can rip through them, Lilina in particular.

Once Turn 12 begins, reinforcements start popping up from all of the stairs. I won’t even bother trying to stop them; by this point



Miledy’s gotten to her brother.



I have no clue what’s in those other chests, but it’s no longer safe to continue looting; Douglas is almost dead.



With that said, time to kill Narshen. Since I had to have Roy do it, I guess that means Sophia will get one more leve-

Actually, it won’t. I’m not sure where I read it, but Etruria never again regained its grace after the Great Movement of Bern.

…Wait, no, that was from some fan fiction. Never mind.


Normally I would include the side chapter with the main chapter, but chapter 50 was so soul draining I don’t think I can. Sorry.

Then they fell in love and got married. Yeah, the Roy-Lalum support is pretty lackluster.

This chapter and the next have more awkwardly large maps, so I’m just going to use Serenes Forest’s images for them. Anyways, as a Divine Weapon chapter, this map has a stupid gimmick.



Every now and then, an arrow of light will shoot down from the top and damage any units in its way. As far as I know, there is no way of determining where the arrow will come from, so good luck with that. Oh, and sometimes multiple arrows will fire.



As if that weren’t bad enough, the boss has a Berserk staff and he’s not afraid to use it. A Sage nearby is also packing a Silence staff, and that’s just as bad considering three of my units are magic wielders.



There are also cleverly placed units with long range magic ready to make your day horrible. This image also shows something else, namely that the enemy units are all placed symmetrically. There’s no gain to going one way or the other, so I recommend picking one path and letting the other side come to you.



I’ll be taking the right path.



This is actually a good thing. Bolting only has five uses, and I’d rather they’re used up on characters that can tank them. Besides, this is basically a free level up for Sophia.



The return of Gonzales! I think this is the first time I’m actually having him initiate an attack since he’s promoted. Sadly, his class severely restricts the amount of experience he gets for attacking unpromoted units.





This time I came prepared for the game’s bullshit.

You know what? I’ve changed my mind; I’m going to go down both paths. The only problems Gonzales and Lance might encounter is Berserk, and Sophia’s in range to heal anyone who gets hit by the boss’ last cast of Berserk.










(I ended up with the Ilia chapters first anyways, but if I hadn’t I would have hacked the game to make it so. Why? Because it makes geographical sense: Ilia borders Etruria, Bern, and Sacae, so it only makes sense to go through it first on the way to Sacae.)



On the sixth turn, the tide will fall and a path will be revealed that connects that village to the castle (and enemy reinforcements will start spawning at every fort). I never really use this, but this time there’s an incentive to.



There’s a shop here that I desperately need to use as well as an arena, so I‘ll send some units up.

These guys (and Alan, who’s going to just fly across the ocean) will be my main force though.



Raising Fa (who has Wolt’s hair for some reason) is a pain in the ass. Like Nino, she needs two A Supports to do anything. Unlike Nino, she also needs top of the line equipment, so I had to hack in an A rank Bow skill.

What? Why didn’t I use the arena?



Because Cecilia is using it.



Meanwhile, Alan uses the Silver Card I had to stock Merlinus full of Iron weapons.

Rescue is basically an inverse Warp, but it’s just as useful.






The next new character comes at Chapter 53, so sit tight until then.

Wow, suprised he actually said "I love you." FE games usually beat around the bush when it comes to that.

It's not like it matters though; since Noah and Fir/Tate and Klein don't have paired endings, clearly the relationships didn't work out.

About those arrows of light, or whatever... I do know that they never fall in the same column as an enemy's starting position.
