Klein: Swordmaster Tate: Wyvern Knight Echidna: No preference |

"Pegasus Knights look like Sailor Scouts" seems to be a pretty common reaction among Fire Emblem players(at least on this board). Especially in this one: "Haha, Thany totally looks kinda like Sailor Mercury...(chapters later)dang, Tate looks even more like Mercury."

I like Echidna because she's Fire Emblem's only female hero. And heroes are badass and the best class ever.
Aside from that... Lalam counts as one of Roy's wives, yes? |

The full list of people who Roy can marry are Lilina, Sue, Cecilia, Lalum, Thany, Sophia, Guinevere. All of those are gained by their A support, except for Guin who is the backup option if Roy goes for a better support option (B Alan, B Lance, C whatever).

Haha jesus christ an actual FE update takes forever to write.
As pointed out in the Archives thread, this micro LP is really getting too big for its britches. As such, I’m wondering if all of this should just be moved to its own thread. That would lead to problems, of course, considering I’m already a third of the way through this game and that most of my updates have just been text dumps, but at least that second part can be fixed. In other words, think of this as a test post for an actual LP with this idea. Quote:
(I really recommend you listen to FE6’s OST.) Roy was shocked by Lalum's story. He quickly penned off a letter to Cecilia letting her know of the horrors happening on the Western Isles, and his chosen course of action. After sending the letter, Roy led his forces towards Mt Ebrakhm to try and free the people suffering from forced labor. Etruria had assigned Bishop Oro of the Elimine Church to supervise the mine. A fortune's worth of minerals had already been taken from the mine, but it seems Etruria's greed knew no bounds... Ebrakhm...the Mine of Death. The desperate wails of the people forced into labor echoed through the mines like the howling of ghosts… Music: Land of Dragons Quote:
(It’s actually called When the Rush Comes, but that’s engrishy.) Quote:
(This is actually the second player phase song. The first one’s pretty boring though, so I won’t show it unless you want to hear it.) This chapter is incredibly frustrating because it’s essentially a race to the other side of the map. You’ll see what I mean. The villages hold a Restore, a Dragon Shield, an Axereaver, an Orion’s Bolt, a Sleep, 5000 G, an Angelic Robe, and a Speedwing. First things first, I need to get Ward across this wall. Not very hard; I just have to have Alan rescue Ward, then move to the corner of the nearby walls. Music: Lalum (Lalum’s theme isn’t on the FE6 OST, but it is on the FE6+7 premium soundtrack) This is just in Lalum’s movement range, so I can immediately refresh Alan. Note that since Lalum joins my party at the start of this chapter, I can’t mod her class yet. Well, I can, but it’d be a pain. Now I can have Alan drop Ward all the way over here. Note the presence of those two Archers; normally, this would make my plan too dangerous to consider, but Alan and Ward have an A Support with each other, and they’re both Fire affinity. As such, they get a hot +15 to Avoid, which should lower the Archers’ chance of hitting them to a number I can sanely manipulate. Meanwhile, everyone else is heading straight south. Quote:
(This is also the second enemy phase theme. I probably should show the first one, but meh.) What. *loads save state* Quote:
The ability to manipulate the RNG is really helpful when it comes to low Skill characters like Gonzales. why do you all have so much hp Quote:
Quote:
It is very important to get rid of this squadron of Fighters as fast as possible. But first, this guy needs to die. Unfortunately, Alan is now too far away from Ward for the Support to activate, so I’m going to have to have Ward move instead of attack. |

Totally worth it, though. Or not. What the hell is this. *loads save state* Much worse, but at least Alan’s alive. Quote:
God damn it Ward. *loads save state* Man, Ward is leveling up pretty fast. Too bad the RNG hates him with a passion. Seriously what the fuck is this, hit rates below 50% are supposed to be more likely to miss. *loads save state* In the end I just cleared out the next 30 RNs and hoped for the best. After about twenty-two deaths, Ward survived with this level up: Yeesh. Quote:
There are some houses down here, but this Fighter is first priority. I had to have Roy waste a turn to get into Support range with Sue, but Lalum can fix that. Quote:
Klein appears. Quote:
GOD DAMN IT WARD. *loads save state* |

As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted, it’s very important to position your units both so that Roy (or Clarine) is in range to talk to Klein and so that none of Klein‘s units attack you. Lalum is extremely helpful for this task. Quote:
And with that, Klein immediately needs to start moving west so he can neutralize Tate when she shows up. Meanwhile, Alan and Lance have almost completely disposed of the Fighter brigade. It took so long because those guys were really tough. Quote:
Quote:
These assholes (there’s another bandit further up) are one of the reasons why you need to move east so rapidly. They’ll each destroy the village near them on the turn after they spawn, and if you don’t lure them away or kill them, you’ll miss out on a Sleep and an Angelic Robe. Quote:
I had to have Alan move away to distract the northern bandit, so Ward’s now less safe. But considering how bad his luck has been so far, I don’t really think there will be a difference. Quote:
*sigh* Quote:
I intended to have Klein recruit Tate, but she ended up moving towards Alan and Ward, so I need to get Thany to haul ass instead. As soon as Turn 9 starts, three Fighters pop up around this village. Quote:
WARD! STOP DYING TO THESE BULLSHIT ODDS! As I was saying, while Echidna can handle herself on Normal mode, on Hard mode that Fighter brigade will completely slaughter her if you don’t eliminate them first. It also helps to move some high priority targets nearby to draw fire. Quote:
I’m thinking about giving up on Wendy. I really want to have at least one female Hero, but her base stats are just so terrible, and I can’t seem to get her to get a good level up. In any case, I’ve got a predicament. Those Pegasus Knights are ready to slaughter Ward, and while I would normally be confident in the weapon triangle advantage to avoid them, Ward has displayed an amazing ability to fail at dodging. |

|
|||
Then I remembered he still has a Vulnerary. I also had Alan and Ward trade their weapons so the Pegasus Knights don’t suicide themselves on them. Quote:
Wow, I didn’t even need to manipulate that. If you have Thany talk to Tate before you recruit Klein, you’ll get a rather somber family reunion. But if you wait till after Klein’s switched sides… Quote:
Despite what she says, Tate won’t actually join until Klein talks to her. This makes sense though; if she just changed sides every time someone close to her told her to, it would reflect pretty badly on her record. A quick rescue chain and Klein is in position. Now I just need to get Echidna to stop moving so Lalum can talk to her. Some Cavaliers pop up over here on Turn 10, but they’re too far away to be a threat. If I had decided to keep some units in the back to deal with Tate and her forces as soon as they appeared, though, they would be an absolute nightmare. Good thing I didn’t. Like an explosion of dark energy at his exact position would hit Roy. Oh what is this bullshit? Allied characters have innate Pass (ability to walk through units of a different affiliation)? Argh. What, Tate too? God damn it! Looks like I’ll have to finish up this mission as fast as possible. Last edited by BlitzBlast; 07-31-2011 at 06:31 PM. |

Meh, why not. Quote:
Alright, if I can just get by one turn without these idiots killing themselves, I’m fine. …This is going to suck. Damn it. Damn it again. Yeah, you know what? This girl is pretty much screwed no matter what I do. There’s only one way I can possibly succeed now without endless resets. And that would be to cheat like hell and skip the enemy phase entirely! Hypocrisy for the win! Quote:
…I could have sworn Ward had a special conversation if you bring him here. Oh wait, that’s for Elphin’s chapter 10. Whoops. Not the best odds (I forgot to position Lilina for a support bonus), but I’ll take it. If Roy kills Oro, Lalum can give him another turn to conquer the castle. Quote:
That didn’t actually take very long. Quote:
A terrible level up, but I can’t exactly say no to a chapter winning critical. Turns out Saul did say something if you have him fight Oro (or, more likely, have Saul get attacked by Oro). Quote:
Lalum has some crazy leg strength. And so it ends! I get a Hero Crest, an Orion’s Bolt, and an Elysian Whip for my efforts. Actually, no, I just get the first two because I didn’t have Klein talk to Tate so she wasn‘t recruited. Ugh, I don’t even care anymore. Blah blah blah whatever. I would like to note that the Klein-Tate Support is one of the better ones. It’s a shame that only Roy gets “paired” endings in this game. The after chapter dialogue is identical to Elphin’s Chapter 10, so I won’t transcribe it. Quote:

Chapter 45: Escape to Freedom (HP: 80%, Str: 5%, Skl: 5%, Spd: 65%, Lck: 65%, Def: 25%, Res: 55%) I love how Lalum has a higher Strength growth than Elphin. Not looking too good there prince of Etruria. (HP: 70%, Str: 40%, Skl: 20%, Spd: 30%, Lck: 20%, Def: 20%, Res: 5%) bartre what happened to you Quote:

Why does the game throw Cavaliers with Killer Lances at you
Why EDIT: The chapter recruiting Tate and Klein is seriously one of the hardest chapters in the game. You don't even want to know just how many times I had to replay that chapter from the start trying to keep Tate's and Klein's soldiers alive. |

Eh, Klein's forces are easy to keep alive as long as you pick up the pace. Tate's not that hard either as long as you move Klein in the right direction.
Of course, I didn't, so yeah. (I still think the hardest chapter in the game is the one right after the Western Isles. You know, the one with Percival and ballistae and way too many Wyvern Riders) |

...I happened to enjoy the one of dstund's LPs that I've read, but that doesn't give them the right to behave the way they have in the other thread. I'm inclined to have you keep the 'old' format you're comfortable with here, but ultimately it's up to you Blitz.

Aaaand done; I think that's every post accounted for. Gotta love that new thread smell, eh? This move is just a one-time thing however, so nobody get any ideas. >:T
EDIT: Before I head off to work and forget, @Blitz: Even though it's a new thread, you can feel free to keep updating the LP the same way as before. You don't have to expand it to a full-fledged LP if you don't want to, so please don't feel like you're forced to change things up. :< Though at the same time the option is there, but it's just that: an option. Elphin - I support Dragon Princes.
Bartre's class from FE7 should carry over, correct? Whatever that was. I like the extra tactical information. I tend to skim the conversations/plot so I have no particular opinion on that. |

I think Bartre should have the FE7 stats he ended the game with adjusted down according to the loss in stat growths from FE7 to FE6.
Edit: Thus give him: HP = 50 Str = 27 Skl = 21 Spd = 24 Luk = 14 Def = 16 Res = 7 - Eddie Last edited by Eddie; 07-31-2011 at 01:27 PM. |

He's like Tellah, except you don't have to turn his stat gains into negatives every level.

So, uh, it turns out that Dark Dragons are absolutely terrible. Dark Breath doesn't boost Lalum's stats at all, and her Move is a pathetic 2. And when I tried attacking with Dark Breath, the game froze.
I then decided to sidestep things a little and make Lalum a Mamkute. I proceeded to try out the three Dragon Stones. Demon Stone caused the game to freeze (it was a dummied out item), Flame Stone caused the game to screw up a bit (and from what I've heard it can cause crashes), but Divine Stone worked (though the resulting dragon looked kind of odd). If you guys want to stick with Lalum being a dragon, she'll have to be a Divine Dragon. And the problems with that have already been discussed. However, Lalum simply doesn't have the stats for anything besides her base class or a dragon, so you guys will have to choose between those guys. As a final note, I've decided to drop Ward, Wendy, and Wolt. Ward and Wolt because Gonzales and Lilina are superior, and Wendy because I can't baby her any longer. |

Just make her a dancer, then. Too bad about the Flametongue glitching the game, it would've been perfect otherwise.

We’ve returned to the part of FE6 that PapillionReel did, so I won’t be transcribing the script anymore. Anyways, some of you may have noticed that I skipped Elphin’s Chapter 10, Caught In the Middle. I did that because that chapter has absolutely nothing new in it, and would only give me an extra Gonzales, Klein, and Tate.
Quote:
I completely screwed up near the end of this update when I realized I forgot to get a picture of Cath’s status screen. I proceeded to start up the game again and get it, but I forgot that the VBA overwrites previously saved images. So I lost the entire map I made. I guess I ought to be annoyed, but I totally deserved it for being so stupid. Anyways, I’m using Serenes Forest’s map instead. The “goal” of this chapter is to protect four NPCs who start at the bottom left. Successfully saving all of them will get you a prize, but failing won’t cost you the mission. The thing about this chapter is that it’s first to use the “enemy with a ridiculously long range weapon at the center of the map” gimmick. Note that this Archer is actually on a Long Ballista, which is probably the most dangerous of the three types in my opinion. It’s still a Ballista, though, so the only units really at risk of getting hit are the civilians. Quote:
Now to actually start the chapter. If you just read a short list of what happens in this chapter, you might be tempted to move Fir west so she can talk to Bartre when he appears. I’m not going to do this. Bartre takes his sweet time appearing, and Fir is way too fragile to just hang around on the west in my opinion. Instead, the first thing I’m going to do is cluster my units around this mountain over here. This will attract the frontline units from both sides. Now I can safely dispose of them without having to worry about the more dangerous forces in the back. Quote:
Slowly advancing one more time will cause the back forces to come marching up. Why am I doing this? These enemies aren’t really all that difficult, and it’s not like my troops can’t handle getting attacked multiple times per turn. The answer is mainly that I wanted to do something different, but there’s a practical aspect to it. Take a look at Alan. He’s mounted, so he’s got a higher Move than almost everyone else. This means he can reach the enemy much faster than the rest of my troop, and as such he’s pretty much a massive experience hog (hell, he‘s already at level 18). But since I’m making the enemy advance towards me, any of my units can reach them, so I can distribute experience the way I want to and get fewer enemy phase level ups. This isn’t a very practical strategy most of the time, but here it works because there aren’t that many enemies (after I’m done with the back force I’ll just charge straight ahead like normal) and because there was a fork in the path with enemies down both roads. Quote:
I’m sending Alan over here to deal with the Ballista. I’m pretty confident that if he gets targeted, he can dodge. Quote:
|
#449
|
|||||

Chad really needs some Skill. Quote:
Bards and Dancers count as weaponless units, so they’re basically massive targets for Ballista. Unlike Alan, though, Elphin is unlikely to dodge, and he’s even more unlikely to survive. I’m better off having Sue rescue him. The deaths of these guys pretty much remove any difficulty this chapter might have had. Quote:
Quote:
I could recruit Geese again in this chapter, but instead I’m just going to leave him as an Allied unit. I’m kind of tempted to have Lalum and Elphin repeatedly refresh each other until they hit level 20, but that would be mind crushingly boring. Quote:
Quote:
Bartre doesn’t show up until Turn 9. At that point, all four civilians are safe at the top of the map, and my units are closing in on the castle. |

Unlike last time, I came prepared for the Allied units acting reckless. Alan rescued Bartre and brought him to Gonzales, who promptly dropped Bartre down near Roy. PapillionReel only showed Fir’s version of Bartre’s recruitment, so I’ll transcribe Roy’s. Quote:
Quote:
After Turn 10, enemies will start popping out of the castle. They’re pretty much guaranteed to kill these dopes, so it’s a good thing there’s no reward for keeping them alive. Quote:
Quote:
As a General, Morgan has some crazy Defense. Super Support Roy does not care. I have to give Roy props for being one of the smartest Fire Emblem heroes in fields that are not related to battle. Also, he’s not a dick. That’s pretty impressive too. This is what I get for saving all of those people. It’s going straight into my pile of unused stat boosters. |
