Nah, the Support system in FE6-8 is honestly just terrible. Standing around for 50 turns doing nothing is just the epitome of not fun.

FE9 handled it beautifully though. There you just have to have two compatible units enter the same chapter together. FE10 and FE11 did something like that too, but they removed detailed Support Conversations in favor of one liners/removed Support Conversations all together.

Didn't FE5 have some kind of support system or is it just more one liners? Anyways, while the GBA FE games did have kinda meh implemented score systems, especially in FE7 where they kept track of turn counts and the like for your rankings, it did kinda work in FE8 because it had an "end game" where you had nothing better to do than get all of the supports and secret characters (and there weren't many dual character endings at all). I'd rather have poorly implemented supports than none at all (or FE9 supports)

I don't care the particulars but make somebody a Cavalier this time. I got a hankering for cavaliering.

If I recall correctly, Fire Emblem 6 has a glut of really big maps. Anyways, strategy here is to advance forward, leaving a few guys behind to deal with the enemy reinforcements. Meanwhile, Roy, Clarine, and Rutger are going to be traveling around unlocking things.

Quote:
Roy: Wolt! About the other day...

Wolt: Master Roy, that conversation was settled. More importantly, this is a battlefield. You never know where enemies are hiding. Please be sure to keep on your guard.

Roy: Wolt... You're starting to sound like Merlinus and Marcus.

Wolt: Am I? Thank you! That is such praise. My goal is to become a loyal servant like them.

Roy: ...Are you serious?

Wolt: Of course!

Roy: I see.

Wolt: Master Roy? Is something wrong?

Roy: Nothing. Leave me alone for a while, will you?

Wolt: Master Roy...?

Oh, and now Saul is a Mamkute. This means he can’t promote (!), but it also means he gets crazy bonuses. Unfortunately, unlike Flametongue, Flame Stone only has a one panel range.

why do you all have such terrible growths

Seriously, the FE7 guys took like maybe three resets on average to get a decent level up, and it wasn’t very hard to get a boost to a low growth. These guys? These guys are taking more than ten resets, and most times I never even see a single boost to their weak stats. This is ridiculous.

At least, that’s what I’d say if I didn’t know how level ups worked. Now I’m just amazed at just how much the RNG is rebelling against me.

Clarine got a critical hit, so I guess I have to accept this.

Quote:
Lot: Thany, don't come out front that often. Pegasi are prey to archers.

Thany: Yeah, I know.

Lot: And you're frail, so make sure you retreat if it gets dangerous.

Thany: Uh-huh.

Lot: And...

Thany: Lot! You're such a worrier. I am a knight, you know.

Lot: But you're still a knight in training.

Thany: Well, yeah, but...

Lot: Then remember that you can never be overly cautious in battle. The best way to stay alive is to always be wary.

Thany: ...Yes, sir.

Quote:
Chad: Miss Ellen!

Ellen: Hello, Chad.

Chad: Thanks for your help the other day. That traveler's now fully recovered, and he said that he was really grateful to you.

Ellen: I just did what I should have.

Chad: What? No way! I never would have dreamed that there would be someone who would use an expensive healing staff on a commoner.

Ellen: What?

Chad: Only those of the Elimine Church would treat commoners with healing staves. And even then, it would only be if the wound were severe enough to kill the victim or something.

Ellen: ...Really?

Chad: Yeah. At least it was like that in the countryside of Lycia, where I used to live. But we have our own ways of treating wounds too, so most people know about medicinal herbs and stuff. ...We were all doing our best to survive until Bern invaded.

Ellen: ...I...see.

Chad: Wha-? S-Sorry! I didn't mean to make you sad...

Ellen: No...it's not your fault. It's just that...my... My country... started the war...

Chad: !? ...Miss Ellen, are you...?

Ellen: I...come from Bern.

Chad: !! ......

*Chad leaves*

Ellen: Chad! Wait! ...Chad.

Barely made it in time.

Quote:
Lance: Sir Marcus.

Marcus: Yes, Lance?

Lance: You said before that I had something that the other knights do not.

Marcus: That I did.

Lance: However, I cannot see what that something is. I am but an ordinary knight. I think you see more in me than there actually is.

Marcus: I think not.

Lance: But I was in a different band of knights up until recently, so I have no idea what I can do for Master Roy...

Marcus: There, you have it.

Lance: Huh?

Marcus: You have experience in other areas. The others do not.

Lance: Oh...

Marcus: Master Roy will take Pherae's throne in the future. And if only Pheraeans were around him, he will grow to be a person with limited views. We need someone like you who knows other parts of the world.

Lance: Will my experience...be of use?

Marcus: You must make it so. Master Roy must grow to be an individual with diverse beliefs.
I don’t think Marcus has to worry about Roy being surrounded by Pheraeans. He’s already got a Sacaen, Ostian and an Ilian girlfriend.

You know what? I’m just going to give Clarine infinite turns. This is going to take too long otherwise.

Saul’s floating dragon head isn’t as impressive as Nils’, but it’s more powerful. Too bad he gets almost no experience from fighting.

Quote:
Wolt: Sir Marcus.

Marcus: Wolt... I can tell by your face that you still want me to teach you swordplay.

Wolt: I just don't get it. Am I really being of that much help to Master Roy?

Marcus: Wolt... What do you think of us as Lord Eliwood's knights?

Wolt: Eh...? Well... You're all really strong, and I look up to you.

Marcus: Well, that's nice to hear. Still, there is one problem with us being Eliwood's knights.

Wolt: Problem?

Marcus: None of us are even close to his age.

Wolt: !

Marcus: Lord Eliwood's vassals... They were all old like me or far younger than him. He had no one to joke around with, no one to talk about his concerns with. He was always fighting on his own.

I know that line was written before FE7, but it’s still total bullshit.

Wolt: Always on his own...

Marcus: I don't want Master Roy to suffer the same fate. You and Master Roy are the same age, and what's more, you are milkbrothers. So I want you to stay by Master Roy's side and give him moral support.

Wolt: Moral support?

Marcus: That's right. Fighting well in battle is important, but that is not all that is necessary to truly show your loyalty. Think about that.

This looks like a nice Lockpick. I think I’ll take it.

Chapter 40: Rebellion at Ostia

(HP: 75%, Str: 25%, Skl: 20%, Spd: 20%, Lck: 15%, Def: 30%, Res: 15%)

Zealot. The only unit so bad, he dragged down his wife’s stats just by marrying her. Oh well, at least he’s a pretty nice guy.

(HP: 85%, Str: 40%, Skl: 30%, Spd: 35%, Lck: 50%, Def: 30%, Res: 5%)

I have never used this guy in a battle, but his Supports are pretty funny.

(HP: 75%, Str: 30%, Skl: 45%, Spd: 30%, Lck: 40%, Def: 30%, Res: 10%)

I usually try to use Noah, but he always proves to be inferior to Alan or Lance.

Zealot- Hero, which makes sense storyline wise

Treck- Priest, just because I couldn't think of anything better

Noah- Myrmidon

Zealot: Hmm... don't care.

Treck: Knight. He's got the stats for a pretty good one, truth be told.

Noah: I really wish Noah had better stats and growths, because he's got some of the best supports in the game. Ah well, I think he'd make a decent Mercenary at least.

(To get my formation, replace Marcus with Thany and Thany with Dorothy)

Quote:
Roy: Phew, I've finished outlining the troops' positions...

Sue: Master Roy.

Roy: !? Oh, Sue.

Sue: What's the matter? You have a strange look on your face.

Roy: No, it's just that I was a little surprised that you came up and spoke to me.

Sue: Oh?

Roy: Yeah... I never see you speaking with other people. You don't like talking that much?

Sue: That's not the case.

Roy: It isn't?

Sue: It's just that I like talking with other things more.

Roy: Other things?

Sue: The breeze, the trees, the sky, the brooks... They are all speaking to us.

Roy: They are?

Sue: Yes. If you listen, you'll hear them. You can't hear them because you're not listening. See you.

Roy: Huh? I thought you had something to tell me...

Sue: I just told you.

Roy: What?

Sue: Be sure to listen to nature, and you'll hear all sorts of voices. You'll feel better after that. If you're stressed all the time, you won't be able to hear anything.

*Sue leaves*

Roy: Sue... Was she trying to cheer me up because I was tired...?
Ah, Ostia. This is the game’s wake-up call chapter; the map is huge, there are tons of enemies, there are three stupid units you have to save and recruit, a bunch of houses to visit, and if you’re like me you’ll have to do all of this

With weapons that are nearly broken because time spent at the previous chapters’ armories is time wasted.

Anyways, priority one is to get Roy over to this area as fast as possible.

Quote:
Clarine: There you are! I won't let you go this time!

Rutgar: ...Knock it off.

Clarine: What!? That is no way to respond to someone's kindness!

Rutgar: You're starting to get on my nerves.

Clarine: !! Insulting a lady like that... That...is not how a proper gentleman...should act...

Rutgar: ......

Clarine: ... ...

Rutgar: ...All right, I'm sorry. ......Don't cry.

Clarine: I-I'm not...!

Rutgar: ......

Clarine: ...I know he is not to blame... But why am I acting this way...?
Ah, classic Fire Emblem romance. Two people don’t like each other, and then BAM! Love.

Recruitment chain!

Zealot’s poll was a decisive victory for Hero, but Treck and Noah are still undecided. I’ll be extending their poll until the next chapter.

Quote:
Marcus: Master Roy, I still think that we must make our rules stricter.

Roy: Stricter?

Marcus: Yes. And we expel those who aren't doing their job properly.

Roy: ......

Marcus: Although our army will be small, we will have a team of elites. That way we can fight more efficiently.

Roy: No, Marcus. That's not a good idea.

Marcus: Eh... Why?

Roy: Who's going to choose whether someone is doing their job or not?

Marcus: Of course, that would be you, Master Roy.

Roy: But some people might be working hard where I'm not looking.

Marcus: Oh... Well, in that case...

Roy: There are also people supporting us outside the battlefield, and there are also those whom we don't use because of my decisions who haven't yet had a chance. You want to simply expel them all? We have many people who joined us with strong beliefs. We can't just tell them to leave.

Marcus: ......

Roy: Marcus, we have to trust them more. They're our comrades, right?

Marcus: ...You are right. I was mistaken, Master Roy. Your thoughts are noble.

Roy: You know, it's kind of strange hearing you praise me like that. You're usually scolding me most of the time.

Marcus: Oh? Am I?

Roy: Yes.

*Roy leaves*

Marcus: Master Roy... He has gotten so bold... He can now certainly live on his own. My role is almost finished...
I really need to make a checklist of what Support Conversations I’ve posted. I’m really not sure if I’ve already posted this one.

I don’t know why Ostia has so many trees, but I’m going to be taking advantage of it.

Too bad it doesn‘t help at all. *loads state*

Quote:
Ellen: ...Chad.

Chad: !

Ellen: Wait! Don't go! Please...listen to me.

Chad: ......

Ellen: It's my country that started the war. So I understand...if you have hostility toward me, a native of Bern...

Chad: ......

Ellen: But why? Why don't I see hate in your eyes, but sadness?

Chad: !

Ellen: Can you...tell me about it? I want to take at least some of the burden off of your heart...

Chad: ...... ...Father...the Father of our orphanage...he died. Bern's soldiers...they came one day. We had a little garden where we grew food. The soldiers...they trampled on it with their horses because... They said that it was in the way of their path. It was a tiny garden with really nothing more than roots, but...

Ellen: So...Father tried to protect the garden?

Chad: Yeah... Even if all we had were roots...they were still food to us.

And that’s how Lucius died. Raven presumably came back, found out, then charged into battle against Bern with Hector. We all saw how that battle went, though. By the way, the fact that Hector lost the battle against Bern is why I think the No Tactician ending of FE7 is canonical; if Mark was there, there‘s no reason why Hector should have lost.

…I bet none of you are actually reading these Supports.

Ellen: Chad, you can cry... If you're sad, you have to let it out.

Chad: ...I was the oldest of the orphans, so I couldn't be crying. The little kids, and my best friend Lugh... They were in shock after seeing Father get killed right in front of their eyes. It was my job to take care of them. I don't want to lose family any more... That's why I chose to fight.

Ellen: You're strong.

Chad: My hatred towards Bern is my strength... The drive to avenge Father and to protect the other orphans... That was my purpose in life. I never had any hesitation at all!

Ellen: Do you hesitate now?

Chad: ...To me, the people of Bern are all bastards. They're only thinking about themselves, and they don't give a damn about what happens to others as long as they get their profit! ...Or so I thought, until I met you.

Ellen: Chad... I'm on your side. I, as an individual, and not as a person of Bern... I want to help you. Do you still hate me now...?

Chad: ...I don't know.

Ellen: Then I'll stay at your side, Chad. I can't replace Father... But I can at least be someone there for you when you need to talk.

Chad: ...Have it your way!

Ellen: Thank you, Chad.

God damn it Noah.

I’d rather not use Zealot, but desperate times call for desperate meas-

only ten damage are you kidding me

Quote:
Thany: Zealot!

Zealot: Thany.

Thany: Hey Zealot... Oh wait, you're now my brother because you're Yuno's husband...

Zealot: You can call me as you wish.

Thany: Oh, right! I wanted to ask you something. How did you meet Yuno?

Zealot: Well... Perhaps some other time.

Thany: Why? Don't be mean. Come on, tell me!

Zealot: No, I'm not being mean... You'll understand when you grow up, but you shouldn't go around asking things like that...

Thany: But I really want to know... As your sister, I should know these things...

*Zealot tries to leave*

Thany: Zealot? Wait! Zealot!

Zealot: ...You won't let me go, will you?

Thany: But I'm family to you. I want to know about my relatives...

Zealot: Hm... All right, I suppose. ...We first met in battle in Etruria. Yuno's pegasus squad was hired by our enemy side.

Thany: Whoa...

Zealot: I attempted to settle things peacefully through discussion. Yuno was a beautiful and caring woman, so things went well. And then, things just progressed after that.

Thany: What were your proposal words?

Zealot: Y-You want me to tell you that much?

Thany: Yes. I'm your family...aren't I?

Zealot: Er...

Thany: Did you propose first? Or was it Yuno?

Zealot: Well...

what the hell are you doing noah

Quote:
Dorothy: Oh! There you are!

Saul: Oh, hello, Dorothy.

Dorothy: Where you were, Father Saul? You just go wandering off without saying anything...

Saul: I do not call it 'wandering off,' Dorothy. I was diligently doing my missionary work at the villages on the way here.

Dorothy: ...Were you really doing your job?

Saul: Of course. However, while I was doing my job, a young maiden was being harassed by a very rude man.

Dorothy: You mean yourself?

Saul: Do I not have any trust at all? Anyway, I drove off the man and rescued the maiden. I must admit, I acted exactly like a holy man ought to behave.

Dorothy: Really? You're not exactly very strong. How did you do it?

Saul: I went to the man and clung to him, crying, 'I thought we loved each other, and now you are rejecting me?'

Dorothy: ......

Saul: The man fled with haste. However, the maiden was also gone when I looked back...
Saul is the best.

For some reason, Treck can’t recruit Noah. Oh well, Zealot was in the area.

Quote:
Thany: What's the matter, Master Roy? Do you need something?

Roy: No. I was just thinking that you always seem so...free of worries.

Thany: Hey! ...Are you making fun of me?

Roy: No! I'm envious.

Thany: ...I still think I'm being made fun of.

Roy: No, I'm not making fun of you. You see, I have to always show people that I'm happy and confident because I'm the leader. But I often get depressed or become worried. Oh, I wanted to ask you, is there some kind of tip that you can give me to stay happy like that?

Thany: Tip?

Roy: You know, something to do or a certain mindset you should be in, or something.

Thany: Well... Eat well, sleep well, and laugh well.

Roy: ...Is that all?

Thany: Probably. That's all you need to enjoy life, right?

Roy: Well...maybe.

Thany: I think you're thinking too deeply. Well, probably you have to because you're in such a position... Anyway, I don't think it's as complicated as you think.

Ffffffffffff- (A nearby house gives up a free Physic staff)

MINE.

Quote:
Alan: 498...499...500...

Wolt: Sir Alan?

Alan: Phew... Ah, Wolt.

Wolt: You're sweating so much... Are you all right?

Alan: Don't worry, I'm fine. I was just doing some practice swings with my sword. I'm still weak. I must train myself further.

Wolt: But... We're in the middle of a battle. Shouldn't you be saving your energy for an emergency, Sir Alan?

Alan: Shh! ...An enemy. Let's go, Wolt! Don't lag behind!

Wolt: Wha-? Y-Yes, Sir Alan!

Turn 7 and the map is pretty much clear. Now to visit all of the remaining houses, pick those chests, and buy some new weapons.

wait what

Well crap.

Quote:
Lot: Ward, you're acting strange lately. You got something to say to me?

Ward: ...Lot.

Lot: Yeah?

Ward: Don't die. You better not die.

Lot: What the...

Ward: If you were killed, what would happen to Myu? She's still just a little girl, and she'll be forced to live on her own.

Lot: But you're the same. If you were killed, Mary would be upset.

Ward: Oh sure, like that bitch is gonna get upset over me.

Lot: ...You don't really feel that way.

Ward: ......

Lot: It's not that 'I' won't die. 'We' won't die. Eventually, we'll go home, back to our hometown.

Ward: ...It's just a rundown village with dirty rivers and no green at all.

Lot: But it's our hometown, and there are people waiting for us there.

Ward: Yeah, you're right.

Chad: Lugh! Here.

Lugh: What? Oh, a new pair of shoes! Where did you get this?

Chad: I didn't steal it, all right? The other day I came across an old lady who lost her key, so I helped her out. She gave me the shoes.

Lugh: Then why don't you wear them? She gave them to you, not me.

Chad: No, it's all right. My shoes aren't as beat up as yours, and besides, they're a little small for me anyway.

Lugh: But we're about the same height. If they're small for you, they would be small on me, too.

Chad: J-Just take them! I'm older, so my feet are a little bigger than yours!

Lugh: What? That's not right!

Chad: Of course it is! End of story, okay? You better wear those shoes, got it? See you.

Lugh: Chad! ...Thanks.

SHIT.

Oh wait, I’m already done collecting stuff.

Clarine: Oh? You...

Dorothy: Me? Yes?

Clarine: Why are you dressing yourself in men's clothes?

Dorothy: Is it...strange?

Clarine: Of course! A lady must be wearing elegant dresses. A true lady must be dressed properly when they fight.

Dorothy: Really...? No, I suppose you're right. I don't know anything about such matters...

Clarine: Hm...I see. Well then, I suppose I can teach you everything I know.

Dorothy: What? N-No! I wouldn't do well in such things...

Clarine: Don't be ridiculous! A lady must always be beautiful. No gentleman will ever look at you if you look like that!

Dorothy: D-Do you think so... Well...she is offering to help me... All right. Please teach me, Lady Clarine!
Someone needs to make a photoshop of “Please teach me, Lady Clarine!”.

*Spends a surprisingly short amount of time manipulating the RNG for a critical hit*

Not the most ideal level up, but I got a critical hit so I’ll have to live with it.

Hooray.

Chapter 41: Reunion

There’s a lot of new characters next time.

(HP: 90%, Str: 35%, Skl: 40%, Spd: 50%, Lck: 15%, Def: 20%, Res: 20%)

First up is Astol, who is probably only going to be used for this chapter.

(HP: 45%, Str: 75%, Skl: 20%, Spd: 35%, Lck: 50%, Def: 10%, Res: 35%)

Second up is Lilina. Note how I’ve already given her stats a boost. (If you guys want, I could hack a Door Key into her inventory and have her try to reclaim her castle herself).

(HP: 85%, Str: 40%, Skl: 40%, Spd: 40%, Lck: 45%, Def: 30%, Res: 10%)

I don’t care what you people say, Wendy (and Generals by proxy) is terrible in my opinion. FE6 just has too many large maps.

(HP: 100%, Str: 60%, Skl: 25%, Spd: 20%, Lck: 20%, Def: 40%, Res: 2%)

Barth’s Resistance growth is hilarious.

(HP: 85%, Str: 40%, Skl: 30%, Spd: 45%, Lck: 55%, Def: 20%, Res: 15%)

Oujay’s a pretty cool guy.

(By the way, we still have all of those spare FE7 stat boosts.)

Quote:
Ellen: Are you Father Saul? I am Ellen, a Sister of the Elimine Church in Bern. I am pleased to make your acquaintance.

Saul: Dear God...

Ellen: Uh...Father Saul?

Saul: I must be blessed to be able to meet such a beautiful lady. And you are a follower of the Elimine Church as well! This must surely be fate. Please, let us meet this evening and we shall discuss the love of God in great depth.

Ellen: Yes, I would love to. Shall we set up a time now? Any time would work for me...

Saul: ...... Are you serious?

Ellen: You are going to talk about God's love, are you not? Why would I even think of refusing?

Saul: But... If you accept so easily, there's no...satisfaction.

Ellen: Satisfaction?

Saul: Oh! Please, never mind. But Ellen, are you sure? I am actually rather loose around women, and I may do something undesirable to you...

Ellen: No, that will not happen. You are a priest. You will surely not do anything like that.

Saul: ...Er... I'm sorry, perhaps some other day.

Ellen: Oh... I was looking forward to it...

Ah, and here I was thinking it was a bad joke. ^^;

At least I know what happened to Lucius now. I honestly never bothered with supports in FE6 that didn't involve Lugh and a certain someone else.

Edit: Scratch that, I went for Lilina and Roy's support too. Because honestly, why wouldn't you?

Astohl. Meh. Meh.

Lilina: Make her a Divine Dragon so she can raze the castle to the ground with her might!

Wendy: Yay, Wendy! It's a shame her supports don't go more into her personality, but the fact that she's one of the few (but proud) female Knights makes it difficult for me to begrudge her because of it. I'm tempted to request leaving her as a Knight, but making her a female Mercenary (which, oddly enough, actually exists in the game's coding even though it doesn't have a sprite) sounds like it'd be aces.

Barth: Ehh... don't really care much about this guy, truth be told. That mohawk of his is awful and he's got a weird chin, bluh. No sense in letting those growths go to waste, however: let's make him a Cleric so we'll have a really sturdy healer on our team.

Oujay: This guy, meanwhile, would make a great Soldier - he's got great growths all-around and is one of the few characters in the game that's not decidedly awful. Also, I request we get to see the entirety of his support with Lilina, as it's one of the few really involving conversations and it really helps flesh his character out.

Female Mercenary (along with Female Cavalier and Female Paladin) seem to just be placeholders.

As for Lilina, if I make her a Divine Dragon, she won't be able to promote, and will be restricted to a 20 use weapon. You realize that, right?

...Why on earth would you change Lilina's class? She needs that 30 Magic Cap to take full advantage of her 75% growth there. I say leave her as is.

Right, but the bonuses from the Divine Stone should even out the lack of a promotion (especially the Def+15 and Res+20, which will make her basically indestructible). Her Str will actually be higher as a Manakete, since she can hit a max of 32 Str after the stone's bonuses. Seems like a win-win scenario to me.

As for the uses, why not just hack five stones into her/Merlinus's inventory and use that over the course of the game?

Because that would just be plain old cheating. It's one thing to change classes and hack a few promotion items in. It's an entirely different thing to hack in a super class and remove its balancing factor.

Fiiine. If that's too much, then let's make her a Myrmidon.

An acceptable choice, but...

(Swordmaster (F) Stat Caps: 22 Str, 29 Skl, 30 Spd, 30 Lck, 22 Def, 25 Res)

It doesn't exactly fit Lilina's growths. Honestly, Lilina is probably better off as a Sage. Still, I'll count that vote.

Thank you, Blitz. You might be my new favourite tyrant, or at least up there with Chu and Sky.

Like I said, I just feel that they're too slow. Low movement in exchange for high stats isn't a bad thing, but it's a total pain in the ass if you want things done fast.

Man, since when has something being a best fit ever mattered :P

Anyway, the low cap can be made up for by the fact that Swordmasters get a 30% boost to their critical rate in this game - that plus the Wo Dao's 40% Crit means she'll be death on two feet the very moment she promotes.

To a person like me, that's all that matters. ^^ I may have already said this, but I think LPs should be about breaking the game within its limits, not crippling the person playing.

I dunno, we already turned Guy into a General, and Chad into a Pirate/Berserker It feels like we're already through the looking glass, here.

Boots! Giving them to a General(or Hector in FE7's case) is the best thing.

Yeah, but you only get like one a game, and they're better off on already high movement characters so they can get across the screen even faster.
