Oops. In that case, I'm 0k with her promoting into a Bishop; Divine's still a pretty awesome weapon in the right hands.

Hmmph... The problem here is in asking who gets saddled with Thief duty for the rest of the game. If you hold off on changing Chad until after that map, how soon do we need another thief to steal/open chests?

Well, I'll need a Thief for the chapter where Chad is recruited (that's why you get him there), and the chapter directly after Clarine and Rutger, and... pretty much every chapter with a castle, really.

Hmm... I'd personally be tempted to make Clarine the thief, because I -hate- mounted healers. Especially in FE8. God, she gets on my nerves. |

It was a joke about how Lance would have been an excellent Thief, but got turned into a Nomad because he's the same as Kent and Kent was a Nomad so unoriginality blah blah blah.

We're gamers... Since when have we been original? Especially since most originality leads to horrible romhacks.
Edit: Of course, I should point out that this LP is what happens when originality works. Last edited by Kala; 07-23-2011 at 07:28 PM. |

Aaaand I just realized I completely forgot to put Support Conversations in the last update. Fixed that.

Clarine thief instead? It sounds like she has stats that would pair great with it... (If something else has better speed/luck upgrade caps consider that instead) |

All a Thief needs is Speed. Unfortunately, characters with good Speed also tend to be characters I'd actually want to use in battle, and being a Thief runs directly against that.

Since this chapter has some chests to open, I won’t be changing Chad’s class until next chapter. Anyways, I think this map shows one of the main features of FE6 Hard Mode: large punishments for messing up. As the above image shows, I can do a lot more damage to this enemy than he can do to me. However, he has enough HP to survive a hit, and he can do a nice chunk of damage to me as well. As such, getting unlucky with the RNG is much more likely to force a reset in this game. Really, I could go on and on about how difficult Hard Mode is, but I doubt I could really convey it. It’s something you have to experience yourself. Quote:

Chapter 37: Collapse of the Alliance I swear to God the RNG was just rebelling against me here. Every single action took at least three resets to get a favorable outcome, even though my odds were consistently over 70%. Quote:
Chad’s poll was tied, so I started flipping coins again. He ended up getting Pirate. |

Lugh is as weak as hell right now, and he can no longer exploit the enemy’s low resistance. This means, much like his mother, Lugh is going to need a lot of babying to become good. Quote:
argh roy can’t talk to clarine Chad has the same problem as Lugh, but at least he has a weapon that’s pretty much a guaranteed kill. Too bad it’s both inaccurate as hell and too heavy for him. Over ten resets, and this was the best I could get. Screw this, I give up trying to actually get a hit with the Halberd. Quote:
All three GBA games have at least one recruitable annoyingly obnoxious girl you want to just leave to die but can‘t because they‘re actually really good. In my opinion, Clarine ranks second on the hate list, only being beaten out by FE8’s Lute. Anyways, I’m just going to ruin that potential and turn her into Thief. Amusingly enough, though, Clarine actually fits the Thief class extremely well. Not only does she have the growths for it and a ponytail, But she also fits the palette. Ha, look at that pink knife. Oh fuck, that’s where he spawns? This is going to suck. Damn it. *loads state* |

Chapter 38: Fire Emblem Whoops, I forgot this chapter existed. Oh well, I guess this means you guys get an extra chapter this update. Quote:
The strategy for this chapter is simple. Split into two groups, and have one go around the mountain and the other charge the gate. |

Most of the units at the gate are mostly just going to sit around until the enemy frontline is breached, so having them Support the units doing the breaching is a really good idea. You know what I really wish I had right now? That. Things are getting pretty congested over here too. Quote:
Damn it Dieck, why is it so hard to get you a level up that doesn’t suck? Quote:
The Gant Lance, Al Sword, and Tina Staff are all a reference to this really terrible FE6 manga starring this complete Gary Stu who was Roy’s equal and secretly the son of Hartmut or something like that. At this point I was temporarily stuck in a rather annoying deadlock. See, the next twelve or so random numbers were complete shit. So instead of just playing the game, I had to repeatedly reload the game to mess around with RNs. |

I actually forgot about the boss while I was turboing through the enemy phase, so I didn’t catch the finishing (critical) hit, but I did get Roy‘s amazing enemy phase level up. Chapter 39: Traps (HP: 60%, Str: 40%, Skl: 45%, Spd: 45%, Lck: 15%, Def: 15%, Res: 50%) I used to think that Saul was Sain’s kid, but then I realized he was too old. (HP: 85%, Str: 50%, Skl: 45%, Spd: 45%, Lck: 35%, Def: 15%, Res: 25%) I have never used Dorothy ever so I can’t comment on her. (HP: 55%, Str: 30%, Skl: 55%, Spd: 65%, Lck: 50%, Def: 10%, Res: 15%) Sue is the second of Roy’s wives, so she’s guaranteed a spot on the final team. Oh, and in case you missed it: the mounted-to-unmounted ban is no longer in effect. They’re almost always going to look kind of screwed up anyways, no sense trying to avoid it. Quote:

L'Archeal is clearly that game's resident bitch. I make a point of never using her though, because I already have two healers to train by that point. EDIT: Oh, and because she can't become a Bishop like the other two can. Mmm, Slayer... Hey, now that's pretty cool. |

My problem with Lute is that she doesn't have a good reason for being such a smug bitch. Serra and Clarine were pretty bad, but the former had a terrible childhood and the latter was heavily spoiled. More importantly, in their Supports they prove to be decent people. Lute, on the other hand, has no reason other than "oh hey I'm just so good" and all of her supports do nothing to change her.
Meanwhile, L'Arachel is just hilarious. She and Dozla are basically saturday morning cartoon heroes, and her supports are just full of laughs. My favorite are the Joshua-L'Arachel and the Innes-L'Arachel Supports; in the former, Joshua tries to scam L'Arachel but repeatedly loses in coin flips despite the fact he's using a rigged coin. In the latter, Innes and L'Arachel basically have a fight over whether Frelia or Rausten is better. |

Lute really isn't that bad in my eyes... I think it's how cute her support with Artur is that really makes me see her that way. I will admit, I thought she was annoying on the first playthrough when I came across her, but she grew on me.
L'Archeal however... She's not the least bit funny. She's deluded, loud and annoying. Not to mention the suffering she inflicts on Rennac! EDIT: While this isn't the best place for such an argument... I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions for what to turn the next three characters into. |

There doesn't really have to be any logic in what you choose. I mean, it's nice to have classes that fit the growths, but if you want me to have a Dawn Brigade I'll try and make do.

Haha... Sorry, but my brain just does not work that way. I simply can't handle making a 'bad' decision, missing treasures or stuff like that.
Incidentally, I don't think there's any website I'm more thankful for than GameFAQs. |

I guess you could argue the smug part, but she's not like Clarine, who's a classist, arrogant shrew right to the core. She's just... weird, in an adorable sort of way. Boiling down Lute's personality to just "smug bitch" is a really disingenuous way of describing her considering that her curiosity and goofiness are every bit defining as traits. The fact that she likes announcing herself as a prodigy is besides the point, as more often than not she uses it as a way of introducing herself instead of putting down others with it. (Even then, she has a reason to be smug because she just is that good. Starting at Lv. 1 with 6 Mag and 7 Spd with a 65% and 45% growth in both stats respectively means that she comes out swinging when she joins.) Anyway, voting time: Saul: Fighter. Not because he's terrible like Wade or Lot (on the contrary, he's quite good) but because decent Fighters are hella rare; Bartre and Boyd are the only two good ones I can think of. Besides, Axe users rock in this game because of all the dang wyverns. Dorothy: Can go into any class, really. She's kind of... plain. :\ She's got good stats though - as far as archers go, she's pretty much the best in the game. Sue: Is terrible, but if we have to use her... ehh. Make her a Peg Knight, I guess? At least that should make things weird when we decide on whether to head to Ilia or Sacae. Last edited by PapillonReel; 07-24-2011 at 08:56 PM. |

We're going to both Ilia and Sacae. FE6 has a chapter select code, and I know how it works.
(Yes, this means I'm going to do both branches of the Western Isles. This also means I'm going to get two Niimes, but I have something special in mind for that.) |

They're treated as two entirely different units. No Support abuse here.
It's not like it matters; I'm ripping off FE9. |

Saul- Monk, just because you...er, I dunno how much Dark magic the enemies actually use, but it'd be nice to have someone who can use Lightning before promotion just the same
Dorothy- Cavalier, I need someone to be that class, dammit! Also she's kinda generic looking (if this was FE11, she'd be pretty uninteresting, but thankfully supports make her...eh, more interesting) Sue- Pegasus Knight, it'll be swank |

There are no Monks in FE6. Only promoted units can use Light magic.
I mean, I could just hack Saul to be able to use Light magic anyways, but there's really no point to anyways. |

Fire, of course. Not Divine, because:

You know, I never did bother with supports - mostly because I didn't know they existed (more specifically, how to make them happen) until after I finished Sacred Stones. But after reading some of the ones here, I just stopped because they were so interesting, and I want to find them out for myself! Especially the ones Pappy linked for Lute, who is one of my favoritest characters.
Also this is totally worth it's own thread. |
