Chapter 46: The Real Enemy

(HP: 55%, Str: 45%, Skl: 55%, Spd: 40%, Lck: 15%, Def: 15%, Res: 35%)

I find it funny that Ray rebelled against his name.

(HP: 80%, Str: 40%, Skl: 45%, Spd: 85%, Lck: 50%, Def: 15%, Res: 20%)

The Thieves in this game have surprisingly solid growths. I guess it’s to make up for the inability to promote.

Quote:
Elphin: That was a rough battle, master. Would you care for a song to soothe your tired heart?

Klein: Oh, you're... You're the bard that is always with General Roy.

Elphin: Yes. My name is Elphin.

Klein: ...Elphin, might you be... No...that's impossible. Forgive me, please forget it.

Elphin: ...I look very much like someone you know... Am I right?

Klein: ! It...can't be.

Elphin: Here I am standing right in front you, telling you myself, yet you do not believe me. Did my servants only have so much trust in me, Klein?

Klein: Prince Mildain! It is you! Oh...! I'm so glad you're in one piece, Your Majesty!

Elphin: You seem to have grown while I was gone.

Klein: Etruria has changed greatly during the year that you were gone, Your Majesty.

Elphin: Yes, I know. I am sorry I put you through it.

Klein: Well, I was stationed in the Western Isles, so it didn't affect me that much... But...you're really alive... I'm sure our people will welcome your return!

Elphin: ......

Cath can be your replacement girl mercenary.

Ray can be Roy's decoy Lord. Oh, not allowed? Fine, let's say cavalier.

? Most, if not all, FE main characters are a bunch of do-gooders. How is that impressive?

Also, classes

Cath- Myrmidon

You missed an important part of that: "Also". In FE, smart characters are often dicks *cough* Soren *cough*.

But really, if you compare Roy to the rest of the GBA Fire Emblem lords he really is the least dickish.

This!

Also: Turn Ray into a Priest. It's about time someone showed him the light.

I... already started the next chapter and made her a Female Myrmidon...

Oh well, she hasn't done anything spectacular yet, so I'll just change her.

I support Mercenary Cath! Cath's pretty cool. Sadly, she is not one of Roy's potential wives, despite all you have to do to recruit her...

That is kinda wierd, it makes much more sense than say, Ellen.

Huh, thinking about it now, Roy's many potential wives seems like a holdover from FE4, where you could basically get almost anybody married to, well, almost anybody else.

Roy can't marry Ellen. Anyways, before I start the chapter, I’d like to discuss something.

Even after his stats have been lowered to account for his age, Bartre is still the best character on my team by far. In fact, if it weren’t for his low Resistance (and his inability to Conquer), I think Bartre could comfortably solo the rest of the game.

Unfortunately, he’s still a level 13 Berserker, so I can’t use him until the final chapters if I want to give experience to the rest of my team.

Quote:
Lance: Alan, the battles will only get tougher from now on.

Alan: Yes. But it's just what I want.

Lance: Alan, I need to tell you something. It's about when we lose.

Alan: When we lose?

Lance: Right. ...If it looks like defeat would be certain, then I want you to take Master Roy and retreat. I will act as a decoy for the enemy and buy time for you.

Alan: What? But then you would be in danger!

Lance: Someone has to do it, so it might as well be me, who has been in Pherae the shortes-

Alan: Don't be ridiculous!

Lance: ...Alan?

Alan: If you're staying, then I will as well. I won't allow you to go off alone and commit suicide.

Lance: But you're one of a long line of knights serving the Pherae family. So you should take Master Roy and flee...

Alan: How long you've served means nothing! Then let me ask you this. Has your loyalty been less than the other knights?

Lance: ......

Alan: Can't say it yourself? Then I'll answer for you. You're working just as hard as anybody! You've been as loyal as any of the other knights! I know that best, because I've been your partner ever since you came to Pherae!

Lance: Alan...

Alan: Don't do anything stupid, Lance. You're a necessary person to both us and to Master Roy.

The map for this chapter is ridicularge (12 screen captures are necessary), so I’m not making one. I’m just going to shamelessly use Serenes Forest’s.

Quote:
Roy: You said you're a Pegasus Knight in training, right?

Thany: Right.

Roy: How come you're in an army outside Ilia?

Thany: It's the rule. If you fight outside Ilia, you'll gain things you wouldn't be able to inside the country.

Roy: Like what?

Thany: Foreign fighting styles, foreign culture... And of course, money.

Roy: I see... Then wouldn't it be a hindrance if you stay in this army so long?

Thany: Huh? No, of course not! There's no other army that's traveling all over the place like this. It's great training.

Roy: Really? Okay, then.

Thany: ...Were you worried about me?

Roy: Well, I guess so.

Thany: Thanks!

This chapter’s gimmick is that you have two teams.

The team on the left has to go through some pretty steep security.

The team on the right has to break this wall in order to start slaughtering those Archers.

Both sides also have chests. This is a chapter where you’ll want at least two thieves, or else 100% completion is going to take a while.

Quote:
Bartre: So...you're Gonzales. I hear you've been doing many evil deeds in the west.

Gonzales: Uh...

Bartre: What do you want from me?

Gonzales: I... I want to fight with everyone. But...I useless. I become strong, everyone like me. Make me strong.

Bartre: I see... Very well, I shall train you. First, I want you to hit me as hard as you can.

Gonzales: Hit? I can't... You get hurt...

Bartre: You... Idiot!

*Bartre hits Gonzales*

Gonzales: Gah.

*Gonzales gets up*

Gonzales: Wh-Why you hit me?

Bartre: Did you really think that your puny little fists would hurt me!? Now hit me!

Gonzales: O-Okay... Raaah!

*Gonzales hits Bartre*

Bartre: Gwoh... Well...you're pretty strong. Prepare for my next attack!

Anyways, let’s start! Here I’m faced with a choice. I can either have Lance attack the wall, that Sniper behind the wall, or that Fighter with a Killer Axe.

Do I even need to explain what the correct choice was?

Aine is the first enemy Mamkute, and he pretty much exists to teach you how much of a bitch dragons are to kill without special equipment or ungodly high stats.

All three magic types have a long range attack. Of them all, Eclipse is the most useless; not only does it have incredibly low accuracy, it can’t even kill, it can only halve HP reduce HP to 1.

Quote:
Dieck: Klein! Don't come out front that much.

Klein: This is still a safe position.

Dieck: You bowmen should stay in the back and cover for us. There's no need for you to come out and put yourself in danger.

Klein: Dieck, I told you, I'm not a child any more. Until now, I've been leading a squad and fighting in the front all the time.

Dieck: Sorry, but you're still 'Little Master Klein' in my eyes. If I let you get hurt, I wouldn't know what to say to Lord Pent.

Klein: ...If you're being so considerate, then you should come back to our mansion. Dieck, when this war ends, do you want to return home with me? Father and Mother would certainly appreciate it...

Dieck: Klein, I appreciate your consideration. But if you really care about your household, then you should stop chatting with a lowly mercenary like me. It won't be good for your future.

Klein: !? What...

Dieck: You're only talking to me like this because we're in a war. Got it?

Klein: ......

For a broken wall, this thing is pretty damn sturdy.

Guess what phase this level up was in.

Quote:
Echidna: Hey, you.

Geese: Yeah?

Echidna: You can drive a ship, right? I want to ask a favor.

Geese: From me?

Echidna: Yeah. We're planning on building a new village on the Western Isles. What I want you to do is to use your ship to carry the people there. I'll pay you well.

Geese: ...A ship, huh?

Echidna: What's the matter? You can drive one, right?

Geese: ...Yeah, I sure can. I was once the captain of a trading vessel. There's no ocean I haven't seen yet.

Echidna: ...Then why did you become a pirate?

Geese: I couldn't continue my business in this war. We had no choice, so I persuaded the boys, saying that we were going to become pirates.

Echidna: Uh-huh.

Geese: But we were originally just ordinary seafarers. We didn't like fighting or robbing, or any of that stuff. Anyway, when we were prepared and finally set off as pirates, everyone started complaining of stomach aches, and seasickness, and everything.

Echidna: Well, well. It's amazing you got this far.

Geese: Yeah, well, I wasn't doing it because I liked it... Even if I say we were pirates, we were just amateurs. ...We figured we'd go for easy targets first, so we picked a small trading ship as our first one. We were able to take over the ship without much of a fight, but...

Echidna: But what?

Geese: We couldn't find any treasure at all. The captain of the ship told me that he was in the same situation that I was. He said that he wasn't doing well, either, so he might have to resort to piracy, just like us...

Echidna: And?

Geese: We let them go. I couldn't steal from them after hearing that.

Echidna: A nice pirate, eh? How ever would you survive?

Geese: ...Yeah, that's what I thought, too. So anyway, we decided to go after a bigger ship next. We figured we could steal a little from the rich and no one would be hurt. A few days later, we were lucky enough to come across a large trading vessel.

Echidna: Yeah?

Geese: We didn't have to hold back this time. We charged the ship... But when got close, suddenly the enemy ship's deck started swarming with ballistas and archers. It was one of Bern's battleships.

Echidna: My, my.

Geese: We were shot at mercilessly, and they chased us for three days and nights. We somehow got away, but the ship was wrecked. We weren't making any money, either. Some of the boys started crying. Hell, even I felt like crying that time.

Echidna: Poor thing.

Geese: Well, like I said, I wasn't doing it because I liked it...

This asshole has a Sleep staff. It may only have three uses, but damn if those uses aren’t the most frustrating things in the world.

Lilina: Bors, uh... About the other day...

Bors: The other day?

Lilina: I wanted to apologize.

Bors: To me?

Lilina: You were just being concerned for me, and I just blew up at you like that... I'm sorry.

Bors: Please...don't be.

Lilina: ...Will you hear why I'm so irritated? I think I need someone to talk to...

Bors: If I would suffice.

Lilina: It's about Roy... What do you think about him?

Bors: Well... I think he has grown splendidly well to be a wise and caring leader to us all.

Lilina: But the Roy I know would have mismatched buttons on his suit, and he wouldn't be able to do one dance step properly... So I always thought I had to take care of him.

Bors: ......

Lilina: But Roy's suddenly changing... He's gotten so...grown up, you know? He seems like such a faraway person now...

Bors: ...My lady, Master Roy has not changed as much as you think.

Lilina: Do you think so?

Bors: It is true that he has grown and matured, but that does not change the nature of a person. Master Roy's nature is still the same as you know it to be, my lady.

Lilina: Yeah, that's right... Thank you for listening to me, Bors.

Bors: Of course, my lady.

Now if Geese hadn’t fallen asleep, I could break this wall and charge in with Alan. But of course he did so I have to wait till next turn. And I won’t be surprised if that stupid Priest goes and puts Alan to sleep next. God, I hate Fire Emblem status effects so much.

Oh well, my main force is already dealing with the wall enemies anyways.

Quote:
Dieck: Years ago...when I just became a mercenary... I was only concerned about spreading my fame.

Lott: Really... You had such times, too?

Dieck: Our squad was sent right in the middle of the enemy lines. We were supposed to go deep into Bern and kill the enemy leader. We waited underground for days...and then the time came. When we went out... dozens of arrows rained down on us.

Lott: ! Why...?

Dieck: Our employer... He purposely put us there so he could buy time for himself to escape. Our squad was decimated. They killed us all, except for me. They left me alive for torturing purposes.

Lott: ......

Dieck: We mercenaries are simply disposables in their eyes. That's the norm. If you don't think like that, you won't be able to take it...

Lott: But...that kid, Roy...

Dieck: Yeah...he's different. If only I'd known him before...
Surprisingly, Dieck didn’t get his scars from the torture.

Hey, guess who that god damned Priest targeted with his last Sleep? Fir! Now I can't unlock those chests before Cath comes and oh my god this is so stupid that sleep only had a 31% chance of hitting what the hell.

Speaking of Sleep, Geese is still zoned out, so Lance has to waste a turn rescuing him so Gonzales and Alan can attack.

I stupidly moved Lance away, so Alan couldn’t use the Support bonus to finish this Sniper. I hope the Sniper will use his turn to heal, or else the next enemy phase is going to suck.

Quote:
Roy: Marcus, is something wrong? You seem not well these days.

Marcus: I'm sorry. When I think of a good time that I should retire... Well, aging certainly isn't a fun thing.

Roy: Retire?

Marcus: The young soldiers have grown strong. Perhaps it is the right time.

Roy: ...Marcus. What are you saying?

Marcus: I am old... It wouldn't be for your benefit that an old man like me stay by your side. I should give way for the next generation...

Roy: No...

Marcus: I should be retiring soon.

Roy: No! I order you to stay!

Marcus: Master Roy...

Roy: I'll apologize if you're angry about what I said the other day. So don't say that you'll retire.

Marcus: But an old man like me... I shouldn't be in battles any more.

Roy: I still have lots of things that I need to learn from you. But if you leave...who can I turn to for advice?

Marcus: Master Roy... You trust this old man so much...

Roy: Don't say you'll retire... I still need your help from now on.

Marcus: Yes... I shall serve you to the death.

The Sniper healed, but this Archer managed to land a bullshit 40% hit.

At least Thany has a high enough Staff skill to use Physic.

Quote:
Roy: Lilina. Lilina!

Lilina: Roy?

Roy: What's the matter? You were looking off into space again. We're in a battle. You could get killed!

Lilina: I'm sorry.

Roy: What's wrong?

Lilina: It's just that... We've come a far way.

Roy: Far?

Lilina: Not distance-wise... It's just that everything seems to be changing so quickly. Do you remember the time when you came to Ostia to study?

Roy: Of course. Two years... Wait, was it three years ago?

Lilina: At that time, your father and my father were still well. Lycia was so peaceful...no one would have imagined a war. ...It all seems as if it were already ten years ago.

Roy: Lilina...

Lilina: I sound so foolish... There's no way we can go back there anyway...

Quote:
Lugh: Miss Ellen!

Ellen: Lugh? What's wrong?

Lugh: I-I thought I saw an enemy near you, so... Phew... But I guess I was wrong. Thank goodness.

Ellen: You were looking out for me? Thank you.

Lugh: Of course! I said I would protect you.

Ellen: You have such a kind heart... I'm sure God would look favorably on you.

Lugh: ... When you smile like that, you look like a saint!

Ellen: A saint? Me?

Lugh: Yes. I was also worried because you always seem to look a little sad. Well, I suppose it can't be helped in a time like this... But I feel so much better when you smile like that!

Ellen: Lugh, I feel better when I see you smile as well.

Because Alan has terrible Skill, I can only now enter the walled off area, two turns after it was accessible. And by this point, almost everybody inside is dead.

Since there’s nothing left for them to do now, I’m just going to make Alan and Lance act as meat shields to prevent Cath from opening those chests.

Quote:
Oujay: Sir Bors, you said the other day that there must always be a cause in battle.

Bors: Yes. And for that cause, you must be willing to go through any and all hardships. Do you have such a cause?

Oujay: Well...unfortunately, I don't. I became a mercenary to feed my family. So I don't really have a cause...

Bors: You've got one right there.

Oujay: Huh?

Bors: Feeding your family is a great cause. And for that cause, you train yourself and become stronger, stronger than anybody else.

Oujay: Y-Yes!

Bors: A cause is not just limited to large scale things like defending your country or saving the world. All right?

this game i swear

Quote:
Wolt: All right, where's the next enemy...

Sue: ......

Wolt: ? Do you need something, Sue?

Sue: You use a bow, too.

Wolt: Yeah, I do.

Sue: Why don't you ride on a horse?

Wolt: Why? Well... I've always fought like this, on my feet.

Sue: Isn't it hard to fight on the ground?

Wolt: No, not really. I mean, I think it would be harder trying to shoot from horseback.

Sue: I see...

*Sue leaves*

Wolt: Uh, Sue? ...What was that all about?

Quote:
Lilina: Hello, Wendy.

Wendy: Lady Lilina... Please stay close to me. I shall protect you with my life.

Lilina: Th-Thank you... That armor... It's quite an accomplishment. Isn't it heavy for a girl?

Wendy: No, my lady. The weight of an knight's armor is a symbol of his loyalty.

Lilina: All right... But just don't strain yourself.

Wendy: Thank you very much, my lady.

Lilina: Why did become an Armor Knight? Did you want to become like Bors?

Wendy: Yes... My brother is the goal that I pursue. I wish to protect you like my brother does, Lady Lilina

Fir and Geese have finally woken up, and while it’s too late for Geese to do anything, Fir can at least start raiding chests.

Quote:
Lilina: Barth, I haven't thanked you yet, have I.

Barth: Thanked me?

Lilina: You came to rescue me, remember?

Barth: Oh, that. I was just fulfilling my duty as a knight, my lady. In fact, I must apologize that we couldn't get to you earlier.

Lilina: Barth...I'm sorry. I can never give you anything in return... Oh, I know. Here, take this necklace...

Barth: Lady Lilina, please. We do not fight for reward.

Lilina: But...

Barth: You were safe. That in and of itself is enough reward, my lady.

Lilina: Thank you, Barth...

Cath has been surrounded, so I don’t need to worry about her at least.

argh

Well, at least I’ve recruited both Ray and Cath.

It’s kind of funny that Roy and Cath don’t have a Support.

Quote:
Lilina: Phew...

Marcus: Lady Lilina, is something wrong?

Lilina: Marcus... What does... What does Roy think of me? I... I'm not so sure anymore.

Marcus: ......

Lilina: Roy, he's... I've always...liked him...for a long time now.

Marcus: Then why not go up to him and find out for yourself, my lady?

Lilina: What...? But...

Marcus: I do not have much experience in matters like this, but I have heard the maids at the castle saying that it is no longer the age that women should be sitting around waiting. Lady Lilina, if you were to advance on to him first, Master Roy would surely fall for you.

Lilina: ...... Yes... Yes. I'm the one who's known him the longest. I can't lose to those other girls!

Marcus: That's the spirit, Lady Lilina!
Too bad she can’t since she just entered an A Support with you. Well, in a normal game anyways.

After Turn 12, enemy reinforcements will start spawning in the south. Since Fir’s done looting, it’s time to kill Aine.

Aine may have ridiculously high Defense, but Roy has ridiculously high Strength. And if Aine survives, Lilina’s poised to take advantage of Aine’s relatively low Resistance.

Quote:
Sue: Wolt.

Wolt: Oh hi, Sue.

Sue: I still think it's better on horseback.

Wolt: What? ...Do you mean about fighting with a bow?

Sue: Yes. With a horse, it's easier to approach and step back from your target.

Wolt: Well, I'm sure it's up to each his own... Wait, did you actually get off your horse and try shooting from the ground?

Sue: I wouldn't know unless I actually try.

Wolt: But that's dangerous! If you do something you're not used to during battle, you could get yourself killed!

Sue: No, not in battle. I was just shooting at some trees during our breaks.

Wolt: Oh...

Sue: Thank you.

Wolt: ?

Sue: Thank you for being concerned about me.

Wolt: Well... We're allies in the same army, right?
The Wolt-Sue Support is another one that really should lead to a paired ending, but again only Roy gets those.

Again, terrible level up, but hard to say no to chapter winning criticals. Besides, Roy’s already capped the stats he needs.

Quote:
Bartre: Fiiiir! Where are you? Fiiiir! Fiiiir!

Fir: F-Father... You are much too loud.

Bartre: Ah, Fir! It's good to see you safe!

Fir: Father...

Bartre: It's been a while since we last met. I was getting worried that we may not be able to see each other ever again.

Fir: Don't exaggerate, Father... We were together during our marches.

Bartre: But we don't have many chances in which we can speak in private like this. Now come, Fir. You can tell your father anything that's on your mind.

Fir: F-Father... I'm sorry, but I have instructions from Master Roy.

Bartre: Do you? Then I shall accompany you.

Fir: Thank you, but I must fulfill my tasks on my own, otherwise it wouldn't be training. I must be off now.

*Fir leaves*

Bartre: Hum... Be careful, my daughter...
Chapter 46x: The Axe of Lightning

Fog of War, poison vents, and a massive amount of chests that mostly contain Elixirs or Antitoxins… 46x, like most of the other Divine Weapon chapters, exists solely to annoy you.

Quote:
Dorothy: Father Saul! I've heard the rumors!

Saul: What is it, Dorothy? Can I not have at least some peace and quiet?

Dorothy: You can't fool me with that calm attitude. I've heard what they say about you. You're trying to ask out every girl in this army.

Saul: That is a misunderstanding. I was just trying to tell them of God's love...

Dorothy: No, not this time!

Saul: What do you mean?

Dorothy: I've heard that excuse before. Can't you think of something better?

Saul: Hm... Then please wait a minute while I think of one.

Dorothy: What's the point if you think of one now!?

Saul: ...Dorothy, why are you so upset? This happens all the time.

Dorothy: That's the problem! People would misinterpret the Elimine Chuch if they see you all the time.

Saul: I am so insulted! I am doing my job properly, Dorothy. Have you not noticed the sharp increase in our female followers recently?

Dorothy: Don't you understand? If you're just asking every girl out...

Saul: ?

Dorothy: ...I've had it! You'll have a lot to listen to when you come back to the church tonight.

*Dorothy leaves*

Saul: ...Sigh...

If I’m going to use Cath, she’s probably going to be needing some of those Strength stat boosts (speaking of those, I’ve decided I’ll just let you guys distribute them after Chapter 47).

At least she fits the palette pretty well. Kind of strange how she’s got spots of brown on her though.

So at this point I checked the thread again and found another vote for Cath to become a Mercenary. Since the Female Mercenary class doesn’t exist, and since unpromoted units share the same caps, I'll just leave Cath as a Myrmidon until she promotes.

Quote:
Lugh: Ray! Ray! I said, Ray!

Ray: ...I can hear you, you don't have to shout like that. ...What do you want?

Lugh: Here. That's your share.

Ray: ? What are these?

Lugh: Baked tarts, as you can see. The meal delivery man gave me some extra ones. They look good, don't they?

Ray: ...Sweets... They're hard to get nowadays. You should savor them and eat them for yourself.

Lugh: They won't be good even if I eat them alone. So let's eat them together later today. Anyway, I'll be going now. Oh, one more thing. You should at least respond when you're spoken to! With me it's fine, but you shouldn't act like that with strangers. People are going misjudge you for being antisocial or something.

*Lugh leaves*

Ray: Misjudge, huh? ...Yeah, whatever. My good ol' brother seems to be as naive as ever.
I like to think the meal delivery man is Lowen.

Quote:
Oujay: How are you doing, Wendy?

Wendy: I'm doing well, of course. I can't be complaining if I want to be a strong Armor Knight.

Oujay: Yes, me too. If I want to be a powerful mercenary...

Wendy: ...Oujay, thank you.

Oujay: Wh-What?

Wendy: I've been able to keep trying because I'm competing with you. If I didn't have you with me, I probably would have given up, saying, 'It wouldn't have been possible for a girl like me, anyway.'

Oujay: ...I feel the same way. I've been able to come this far thanks to you. We're even.

Wendy: Yes. But I still won't allow myself to lose to you.

Oujay: I'll throw those words right back at you, Wendy.

I guess I could try splitting my forces up to take down all of the enemies, but I seriously don’t want to spend any more time in this chapter than I have to.

Look out for these things. Poison is far from deadly, but it’s a huge pain in the ass.

Quote:
Gonzales: Uh? You, you...

Treck: Hm...?

Gonzales: Who are you? I see you before.

Treck: Really? I must be famous. My name is Treck.

Gonzales: T...T... T...?

Treck: ...reck.

Gonzales: Reck.

Treck: Yeah... Hey, what's your name?

Gonzales: I Gonzales.

Treck: Gonzales? That's a nice name...

Gonzales: R-Really?

Treck: Yeah. It's really calm, don't you think...?

Gonzales: Calm... What's calm...?

Treck: Hm? ...Hmm... You know, I don't really know, either. But hey, don't worry about it. It's nothing compared to the size of this world.

Quote:
Alan: 998!...999!...1000!...

Wolt: Sir Alan!

Alan: Ah...Wolt... Good to see you...again...

Wolt: D-Do you really have to go so far? You'll be done for if you go into battle like that!

Alan: I know it's crazy... But I have to do it. Don't you feel the size of this continent as we fight through it?

Wolt: Yes.

Alan: We must become stronger, even if we go over our limits. We are the ones who must become stronger to protect Master Roy.

Wolt: Yes!

Alan: All right... I've caught my breath. Let's go!

*Alan leaves*

Wolt: He's amazing... I can‘t be losing, either!

Quote:
Wolt: Oh, Sir Lance.

Lance: Wolt. ...Are you all right? Your eyes seem to be rather red...

Wolt: Yes! I'm fine. I was reading the book on war tactics that you lent me.

Lance: Well, good job. Were you reading all night?

Wolt: Yes!

Lance: All right, you might be interested in this next. It's by the same author, and he describes his ideas in detail over the course of 24 volumes.

Wolt: ......

Lance: If you read this, then you should be able to master the basics fairly easily. After that, we can go into more advanced details... Wolt? Are you listening?

Wolt: ...... Y...Yes! Of course! I'll do my best…

There really isn’t much I can say about this chapter. It’s a pretty straightforward march to the finish.

There is a Druid with an Eclipse, but that’s pretty much the definition of the word pathetic.

Man, Cath is getting some crazy level ups.

Quote:
Fir: Shin!

Shin: ......

Fir: Is something wrong?

Shin: ...I hadn't asked you yet. Which clan are you from?

Fir: What?

Shin: Are you from the Bulgar clan? Or are you part of the Djute clan that betrayed us?

Fir: ...I don't know.

Shin: ...... Was that...a joke?

Fir: N-No, it wasn't. I lived with my parents, so I don't really know much about the clans...

Shin: ...I see.

Fir: Um, you're from the Kutolah clan, right? You said so before.

Shin: That's right. Our chief is the Silver Wolf, the strongest warrior in Sacae. No one can match his mastery of the sword and bow.

Fir: You admire him greatly.

Shin: ...Can you tell?

Fir: Yes, I can tell by your eyes. You're usually forbidding... I, I mean quiet... But you had a proud look on your face just now.

This guy is dangerous, but…

He won’t move from his spot, so I‘ll just use a Javelin.

This guy has a Devil Axe. They’re pretty interesting; there‘s a (31-Luck)% chance of it backfiring and damaging the user instead. However, it’s E Rank and gives 8x weapon skill growth, so it’s something worth using if you want to get your Paladin/Hero to learn to use better Axes.

Quote:
Bartre: Hm? Who are you?

Cath: Hi, I'm Cath! Hey, Bartre, can we talk for a bit?

Bartre: Sure, I don't mind.

Cath: Thanks. You look a lot like my father, you know.

Bartre: I do?

Cath: Yeah. But he didn't act like you, though. He was nothing but a coward.

Bartre: I see.

Cath: But talking to you reminds me of him. Hey, Bartre, can you hug me like my father used to do?

Bartre: Well, all right. ...Like this?

Cath: Thanks, Bartre.

Bartre: Sure.

*Bartre leaves*

Cath: Heh... What an idiot. Just like my father.

Quote:
Chad: Hey! Ray!

Ray: ...Chad. Who said you could come talk to me?

Chad: Dammit, I wouldn't if I didn't need to.

Ray: What do you want?

Chad: Roy... I mean Master Roy wants to see us.

Ray: Like I care.

Chad: Y-You idiot! Don't say such things in such a loud voice! That Merlinus guy'll be after us again!

Ray: What, are you afraid that old geezer?

Chad: I sure am. He and Master Roy are both nobles.

Ray: Haha, so little boy Chad'll go bowing down to power?

Chad: ...Laugh while you can. But let me say this. If we go against nobility, we can't complain no matter what happens to us. Master Roy doesn't seem to be that kind of a person, but I don't know about the others.

Ray: ......

Chad: I don't want to watch someone I know get beat up right in front of me. You've got quite a mouth, but if you don't want to get killed, use it somewhere else. ...I'm going. You better come, too.

Ray: ......

Roy can easily dispose of the boss, but I want to leave Grero alive for another unit to finish off. As long as Roy doesn’t get a critical during his counter attack, things should be fine.

For some inconceivable reason this guy chose to use his Hand Axe to attack Roy instead of his Silver Axe.

Chapter 47: Rescue Mission

Technically there are four new units next time.

(HP: 60%, Str: 35%, Skl: 45%, Spd: 25%, Lck: 25%, Def: 20%, Res: 25%)

First is Cecilia, who I have to use despite being terrible.

(HP: 75%, Str: 30%, Skl: 25%, Spd: 35%, Lck: 20%, Def: 20%, Res: 10%)

Second is Percival, who is pretty much the precursor of Harken in that he can survive off of his base stats. I’ve heard that Percival will have higher stats if I wait till Chapter 49, but I want to make Chapter 47 as hard as possible so screw that.

(HP: 75%, Str: 50%, Skl: 50%, Spd: 45%, Lck: 25%, Def: 20%, Res: 5%)

Third is Miledy, who is basically a gender swapped fusion of Alan and Lance.

(HP: 55%, Str: 45%, Skl: 55%, Spd: 40%, Lck: 15%, Def: 15%, Res: 35%)

Finally, Sophia is pretty bad. She‘s a glass cannon, except she can‘t double because Female Shamans do not have the Constitution to use Dark magic tomes. Oh well, I have to use her, and you guys can change her to a better class.

To get the picture of Sophia, I had to go to the next next chapter. To do so, I tested out my earlier theory. Yes, Bartre could solo Chapter 47. It was hilarious.

Quote:
Alan: Master Roy, I have an idea to break the enemy's defense...

Roy: Idea?

Alan: Yes. First, we save our best troops and use the others to clash with the enemy's front lines. The men in the front shall find a weakness. Please, leave that role to me and my squad!

Roy: But that group will be in great danger...

Alan: We might have some casualties, but we can win the battle! Besides, I am not so easily defeated.

Roy: ...Alan, I can't consider that idea.

Alan: W-Why?

Roy: I can't use a plan that we know will have casualties.

Alan: But Master Roy, casualties cannot be avoided in a war...

Roy: ...I think they can be. I might sound naive, but I don't consider a victory with casualties to be a true victory.

Alan: A true victory... Can there be a true victory in war?

Roy: I think there can be. That's why I want to come up with a good plan.

Actually, not quite! Eclipse reduces a character's HP to 1 when it connects, so it's actually a fair bit more dangerous in FE6 than it was in FE7 or 8. The Hit rate still makes it useless though.

Anyway, voting time:
Cecilia: Meh.
Percival: I say keep him a Paladin, just because he's awesome in the class as-is.
Miledy: Hmm... Miledy can be a Nomad.
Sophia: If we're set on keeping Cath a Myrmidon, I vote to make Sophia a Mercenary to make up for it. At least then she'll have the Con to wield weapons properly, and that excellent Str growth would be a great fit for the class.

Cecilia- Hero, just to be ironic about the whole Mage General thing
Percival- Sage, same reason really
Miledy- Paladin, because we need at least one
Sophia- Can you give her the uber sage class that Guiniviere (spelled wrong intentionally, I swear) had in the trial maps? Or at least make her a mage and let her promote into that?

Princess G (I can't spell her name either) was just a normal Sage, only she could cast Light magic.

Which is why you need one, because only bishops can cast light magic and it takes years to level up healers (to be fair, it probably takes just as long to level up Sophia, but at least there's arena grinding if you opt to do that sort of thing). Also, sages > bishops.

Music: Suspicious

Narshen’s theme song is extremely fitting. I still prefer Guinevere’s though.

Quote:
Lot: How do you see this battle?

Lance: What do you mean?

Lot: Do you think we stand a chance of winning?

Lance: ...... I honestly don't know. Well, we are outnumbered severely. The enemy can afford send out new troops all the time, while we have to be careful about losing even one troop.

Lot: Yeah... Our starting conditions are just so different.

Lance: But Master Roy sometimes thinks of plans that are beyond my petty thoughts. He has done miraculously well in the battles so far. Under his direction, I feel like we could never lose. Master Roy will surely lead us to victory.

Lot: I see... ...You're not the one to favor somebody just because he's your master. So if you say so, it must be true. Then I better start believing, too...in our victory, and our leader.

If the battle for Ostia was the chapter that reminded the player that they were playing a Fire Emblem game, then the mission to rescue Cecilia is the chapter that reminds the player they’re playing Fire Emblem 6. The map is huge, there are tons of high mobility enemies, a lot of plot happens, and there’s a pain in the ass recruitment that must be done before Turn 9.

Quote:
Cath: Hey.

Chad: Whoa! Who are you?

Cath: You've got talent.

Chad: Yeah, so who are you?

Cath: ...You don't know me? I'm Cath, a master thief!

Chad: ...Who?

Cath: ...Ignorant... I'm your elder. You should respect me, you know.

Chad: No. I brushed my stealing skills on my own, and I'll continue to do so from now on.

Cath: No, no, you're not going to get any futher on your own. Oh well, I guess you can learn again under my training.

Chad: Wait, why would I...

Cath: So, you're now my Servbot Servant #1. You'll work for me from now on.

Chad: Why would I!?

Cath: You'd better watch your mouth. Isn't this your bag?

Chad: H-Hey! When did you... Give it back!

Since there are two paths to take, you might think it’s a good idea to separate your troops. I honestly feel that this is a terrible idea, so I’m only going to take one path. But which one?

The bottom bridge has these assholes on it, and at the end is a village with an Al Sword. Anyone marching in is going to get pelted with long range attacks. Better to make them march towards you.

Meanwhile, the top bridge has a village with a Body Ring nearby and only a small group of Cavaliers. It’s also the path to Percival.

I think it’s obvious which path I chose.

Quote:
Lalum: Roy! *suddenly advances towards Roy*

Roy: L-Lalum...! I don't think you should jump on to people like that so much... People might have misunderstandings.

Lalum: But Roy... ...!?

Roy: ?

Lalum: Eeeek! There's an enemy!

Roy: Enemy!? Where!

Lalum: I don't know! But I heard the bushes rustle...

Roy: L-Lalum! Calm down... I can't move if you're grabbing on to me like that...

Lalum: I'm going to die! But...it's okay. If I can die for Master Roy, it would be my only wish now. You, hiding over there! Come out! Our love is eternal, and can never be broken!

Roy: P-Please, can you get off of me so I can fight...

Quote:
Shin: Lady Sue, please step back. It's not wise to linger around the front.

Sue: Shin, this is a battlefield. I have to go up front to fight.

Shin: I will do the fighting. You must think of your safety.

Sue: My archery skills have gotten much better than before. I'm sure I can be of help to the army.

Shin: I have orders from the Silver Wolf to keep you safe. I will not allow you to put yourself in danger.

Sue: ...Yes. I will do as you say.

Shin: Thank you.

Sue: You sound like Grandpa when you argue with me.

Shin: Of course. The Silver Wolf is whom I respect the most.

To recruit Percival, Lalum or Elphin has to talk to him. The best way to get them in range is a rescue chain.

Since I don’t need all of my troops to recruit Percival, so I think I’ll leave some units behind to deal with these guys.

Quote:
Cath: ...Bartre. Here.

Bartre: Hm...? This is my axe.

Cath: Yeah. And see this other stuff? They're all yours. I stole them from you the other day.

Bartre: Well...

Cath: Yup, I'm a thief. I trick people and steal their stuff. Well? Aren't you going to yell at me?

Bartre: ...Cath. Why are you telling me this? You could have gotten away with it if you had kept silent.

Cath: ...Yeah. I don't even know why I stole them from you in the first place. I usually only steal from the rich.

Bartre: Does it have something to do with your father?

Cath: ...Maybe. I always hated my father. He was such a coward... I always hated him. ...Our village was burned to the ground in the war. A bunch of soldiers came and ordered us to set our houses on fire. No one did... I mean, who would? It was our home. Soon, the soldiers got impatient and drew their swords... That's when one of the villagers took a torch and went around setting the place on fire. That coward... That was my father.

Bartre: ......

Cath: All of our houses and crops were burned... And even then, all my father did was stand there and watch. ...I've hated him ever since. I swore to myself that I would never become a coward who goes around bowing down to power like that. That's why I...

Bartre: Cath... You're wrong.

Cath: What?

Bartre: ...No one would enjoy burning down his own village. But your father... He had something he needed to protect.

Cath: ......

Bartre: Your father didn't have the strength to defeat the soldiers. But he was fighting all the same. He was gritting his teeth and fighting to protect something that was even more important than his house and crops. ...He was fighting to protect you.

Cath: ...... Ha... I don't think so. My father's just a coward. He's nothing like you. But...I suppose I could think of it that way...

Quote:
Dieck: ......

*Rutgar is watching him...*

Dieck: Hey! I thought I told you to stop that! Persistent, aren't you...!

Rutgar: ......

Dieck: ...? You seem to be in a bad mood. Did something happen?

Rutgar: ......

Dieck: Lemme guess... You found a personal enemy in Bern's ranks?

Rutgar: !

Dieck: Guess I hit the spot. Then how come you're taking it out on me?

Rutgar: ...I saw the soldier who led the attack on my hometown, Bulgar. But when I reached him...he was already dead. It was you, Dieck. Those sword marks...it had to be you.

Dieck: ...Sorry. If I had known, I would have left him to you.

Rutgar: ...This is a battlefield. Enemies don't belong to anybody.

Dieck: Rutgar... Can't you relax a little more?

Rutgar: ......

*Rugar leaves*

Dieck: You can't rush through life...

Quote:
Lance: Alan, about the other day...

Alan: You mean about when we lose? Are you still saying that you're going to sacrifice yourself, or something ludicrous like that?

Lance: No, I gave up that idea. ...Your words were a slap in the face, so to speak. Perhaps I was belittling myself because I've been in Pherae the shortest.

Alan: Your work is second to none. Except me, of course.

Lance: Where does your confidence come from? I really envy you sometimes.

Alan: Of course I have confidence. How could I possibly lose to you?

Lance: ...You'd better remember those words, for you'll be hearing them again from me.

Alan: Ha, never! See you after the battle!

Lance: Yes.

Alan: Lance!

Lance: What?

Alan: Even if we lose, you won't be the only one staying behind and fighting to buy time! You'd better remember that!

Lance: Of course!

Turn 7, and both teams are making great progress.

Quote:
Barth: This is no surprise, but Bern seems to have been doing something behind the scenes even before the war started.

Astol: Yeah. The traitors in the Alliance, the rebellion at Ostia... It all happened according to their plans. Well, of course, I can't say much because I didn't realize when it mattered the most...

Barth: The betrayals in the Alliance and Lord Hector's death... We are all to blame for that.

Astol: Nah, it's my fault. The mistake I made, it was just... It was just way too big.

Barth: ...We must keep our eyes sharp so that such a tragedy does not happen in the future.

Astol: Yeah, I know. Traitors and spies could be anywhere. Like in this army, for example.

Barth: What...! There is a traitor in our ranks!?

Astol: No...not that I know of. But you can never be too careful. I carved that concept into my heart when Lord Hector was killed.

Quote:
Dorothy: Hmm... ...But why am I worrying myself so much over him...? ...I can't figure that out, either. Anyway, I have to find a way to talk to him...

*Shin appears*

Dorothy: ... Oh...

Shin: ......

Dorothy: Um, um...er... H-Hello!

Shin: Yeah, hello...

Dorothy: Um, wh...what...

Shin: ?

Dorothy: W-What...what...kind...

Shin: What kind...?

Dorothy: What food of kind you do like? ...... ...Shoot...

Shin: Fruit.

Dorothy: Huh?

Shin: What kind of food do I like, right? I like fruit.

Dorothy: Um... ...Did you hear me talking to myself?

Shin: It was difficult not to listen with such a loud voice.

Dorothy: Um...er...

Shin: If you want to talk to me, then don't hesitate.

Dorothy: It's all right!?

Shin: Of course... We're in the same army.

Dorothy: Yes!

Well, this is convenient.

Quote:
Lalum: General Percival! It is you, isn't it? I was looking for you! I am... Wait! Wait! Stop your horse! Listen to me!

Percival: Who are you?

Lalum: Don't you know!? I thought we'd met before.

Percival: ...I sort of recall seeing you at Lord Douglas' manor...

Lalum: Yes! That's me. You do know me, then!

Percival: But the girl I saw there was a little more...ordinary.

Lalum: What's that supposed to mean? Ah, no matter. Anyway, my name is Lalum. I'm here under the command of Prince Mildain.

Percival: Prince Mildain...? Don't be daft. The prince was killed in an accident the year before.

Lalum: Well... Look at this!

Percival: !! That emblem... It belongs to the prince...!

Lalum: Now do I have your attention? Then take a look at this letter, too. The prince told me to give it to you.

Percival: ..... This is the prince's handwriting... So he is alive! Then I hesitate no more. If the prince has joined the Lycia Alliance Army, then I must do the same.

Lalum: Wha-? That was quick... I was hoping things to get more dramatic... Like, 'If you're still going to stand against us, then you're going to cut me down first!' or something like that...

Ahahaha my luck is terrible. This time, Percival didn’t receive any bonuses to his strength whatsoever.

Quote:
Miledy: Phew... Sorry I'm straining you so much, Trifinne... Good girl.

Lugh: Wow! A wyvern! Wow, it's so big! Is this wyvern yours? Will it get angry if I touch it?

Miledy: No, go ahead. She's a gentle one.

Lugh: Then... Wow, such hard scales... Her fangs are sharp too! Wow... Are you a Dragon Knight?

Miledy: Yes, yes I am.

Lugh: Really!? I thought only Bern had Dragon Knights!

Miledy: !

Lou: They say Bern's Dragon Knights are invincible, so I was a little worried... But they'll be nothing if we have Dragon Knights as well! I want to defeat Bern, but I'm still not very good with my magic, so I'm not really being of any use yet....

Miledy: ......

Lugh: Oh...I better get going. See you later! Thanks for letting me pet your wyvern.

Miledy: Yes...see you...

From Turn 8 onwards, reinforcements will start spawning at the edges of the map after every four (?) turns. My rear guard will be taking care of them.

Quote:
Noah: Treck, do you remember Casis?

Treck: Casis? Hmm... I sort of remember that name...

Noah: You don't remember? He's the guy who forgot to bring his weapons to our first mission.

Treck: Oh, right! He was getting scolded with me by General Zealot. He even forgot to bring his horse, you know. He was fighting on foot! I never thought there'd be someone dumber than me in our squad.

Noah: Well, he's dead. He was hired by Bern... He died close to here.

Treck: ...Oh.

Noah: Mercenaries are in high demand right now... We could have ended up fighting him if we were unlucky.

Treck: Well... We're for hire, you know. It happens.

Noah: Well, I guess you're right... I really envy that personality of yours...

Quote:
Tate: General Klein.

Klein: Tate? What's wrong?

Tate: It's about what you said the other day...

Klein: The other day?

Tate: You said that I wasn't taking advantage of my freedom...

Klein: Oh, that.

Tate: I wasn't quite sure what you meant, so I wanted to ask you.

Klein: Well, since you're free to do what you want, no one's forcing you to stay here. That's all.

Tate: !! ...Does that mean that you don't need my help?

Klein: No, that's not what I meant. Tate, you're a mercenary. Staying with this army isn't going to get you much income. So if you're just fighting alongside us out of guilt or a feeling of responsibility, I just wanted to let you know that you shouldn't feel compelled to stay.

Tate: Yes, you're right. Perhaps it is inconvenient to stay with this low-paying army. But I'm staying with you out of my own will. Please don't worry about it.

Klein: Oh, all right, then. I'm sorry if I've been a bother.

Tate: No, not at all.

Klein: But Tate, when this war ends, I could help you find an army that pays well.

Tate: ...Why?

Klein: Well, even though you said that you're fighting with us out of your own will, my being here is still one of the reasons that you stayed. I just thought that I should compensate by helping out with your future plans...

Tate: ...I can do that on my own. I appreciate your consideration, but please don't worry about it.

Klein: But...

Tate: Or is my being here a hindrance to you?

Klein: N-No! Not at all!

Tate: Then why are you telling me things like that!

Klein: ...What's the matter, Tate? How come you're so upset...

Tate: Ever since the other day, all you've been talking about it getting me out of this army...away from you!

Klein: What? Well, I...

Tate: I chose to stay by your side because I love you! But you... You're so inconsiderate!

Klein: Um, well... I'm sorry. It's just that... I never thought that you felt that way about me.

Tate: ......

Klein: So... ...... You know, Tate, you're to blame as well!

Tate: Wh-What?

Klein: You keep calling me 'General Klein, General Klein,' like you want to keep your distance with me! That's why you make me think that you're simply tagging along out of responsibility!

Tate: B-But...

Klein: No 'General' from now on. Just call me Klein, all right?

Tate: Yes, General Klein.

Klein: No. Klein.

Tate: Huh? Oh... Yes...Klein…

Now the only thing left to do is deal with these guys down here.

Quote:
Elphin: General Percival, if I may have a moment of your time...

Percival: ! Your Majesty...! Please do not address me as...

Elphin: Hush! We do not know where enemies may be hiding. Here, I am a simple bard. Understood?

Percival: Yes. Then... ...What is it that you need, Elphin?

Elphin: Prince Mildain of Etruria passed away last year. I would appreciate it if you could inform me of the behavior of the Etrurian Court after that. I would like to sing about them in my future travels.

Percival: ...Very well. After Prince Mildain passed away...

Echidna: Hey.

Gonzales: Uh... What... What's your name?

Echidna: Oh, right. I hadn't told you yet. I'm...

Gonzales: No... I dumb. I can't remember things... ...And I ugly. Everyone looks at me... I ugly, dumb...

Echidna: ...My, my. Look, Gonzales, you have to have more confidence in yourself. Yeah, you have a scary face, and you're a bit dumber than most others. But so what?

Gonzales: Uh...?

Echidna: All right, Gonzales. I don't believe in that 'As long as you have a kind heart...' crap. You're ugly. People made fun of you because of it.

Gonzales: Uh...

Echidna: But that doesn't mean you should just give up. You should look over yourself carefully, and find something that only you have. You'll eventually find something that's unique to you.

Gonzales: To me...

Echidna: Right, unique to you. If you have that, no one'll be making fun of you any more. You won't have to belittle yourself all the time. You can stand proud.

Gonzales: U...Unique...? ...... I go think. My head hurts...

Echidna: Hahaha... Take all the time you need.

Now that I think about it, this is the first time I’m actually blocking off a choke point. Shame I don’t have any Generals.

Back on the frontlines, Lilina’s ready to finish things off.

I wonder why don’t magic criticals don’t get the red-blue light flash.

Quote:
Lalum: Hmm~~~

Oujay: Oh, Lalum.

Lalum: ? Oh, you're the guy who was spying on me.

Oujay: ...That's a misunderstanding...

Lalum: Well, you praised my dancing, so I'll forgive you.

Oujay: You really like to dance, huh?

Lalum: I guess. It's fun. I meet a lot of people when I travel around, and they all love my dancing. I like that sort of thing.

Oujay: I see.

Lalum: Hey, I know. Do you want me to show you the rest of the dance from the other day?

Oujay: R-Really?

Lalum: Do you want to see it? You do, right? Then tell me that you do.

Oujay: I... I want to see it.

Lalum: Ah well, I guess I can show it to you. This is the sixth of the seven dances I've mastered so far. And it's called...

Oujay: It's called...?

Lalum: Dance Number 6.

Oujay: Oh. It's kind of...ordinary.

Lalum: Hey! You were disappointed just now, weren't you.

Oujay: N-No! I wasn't.

Lalum: Yes, you were.

Oujay: No, I wasn't!

Lalum: Yeah, sure! Nope, changed my mind. I won't show it to you!

Oujay: N-No...

Chad: Hey!

Cath: Oh, it's you.

Chad: Give back my bag! Now!

Cath: Whoa... Calm down. Here.

Chad: ......

Cath: What are those scribbles? Who is that?

Chad: Father...

Cath: Father...? ...You're an orphan.

Chad: ...I wasn't good in my studies, but when I drew pictures, Father praised me. He said I had clever fingers, and that I could be an artist someday.

Cath: ...... I see... ...... ...... Ah! I don't like situations like this. I want to live more optimistically. You should do the same, #1.

Chad: What do you mean, #1?!

Cath: You. You're my Servant #1, remember?

Chad: I never agreed to that!

I get a prize for keeping Percival’s units alive. It’s not very useful since I’m not using any Cavaliers/Knights.

Chapter 48: Arcadia

No new units next time! Honestly, though, Cecilia and Sophia are the new units, but I already put up their images.

By the way, with the addition of Cecilia and Sophia, Roy’s harem is now complete!

Quote:
Cecilia: Lilina, is your magic improving?

Lilina: Yes, I think I've been getting better since you taught me the basics.

Cecilia: Good. You have a special gift for magic, Lilina. If you practice, you'll become a great mage like no other.

Lilina: Me...?

Cecilia: Yes. So make sure you keep up with your training.

Lilina: Yes!
I’ll be posting a summary of everyone’s stats soon as well as a list of the stat boosters we have.

6 +2 Strength bonuses

Since there aren't that many people participating, just say a name and they'll get a stat boost. First come, first serve.

You can say her name all you want, but if you don't say what boosts you want to give her it means nothing.
