I recommend anything done by The Freelance Astronauts but more specifically Maxwell Adams as he plays the majority of games.

Default hi

First off, this is the best and only Let's Play you should ever watch ever.

SA has three very good Demon's Souls LPs. Squint does a straight runthrough of the game, Weaponboy plays bunch of New Game + stuff, and Punchyfist, well he plays through using only fist weapons.

Honestly the Punchyfist run is somewhat repetitive, but all is redeemed thanks to this video.

Chip Cheezum and General Ironicus have a bunch of good LPs.

There have been some IWBTG LPs recommended, and while I do like the one done by the creator of the game, I think this LP over at the Penny Arcade forums does it right. The same LP'er also did VVVVVV.

And Retsupurae should probably be mentioned in this thread.

I finally watched Brick's Super Metroid LP, and when he mentioned that you can do a reverse boss order run, I had to see it.

So there's this here. It's a pretty informative video, and the guy's laconic narration style really works. He's even kind enough to put in skip boxes for the stretches when nothing really happens.

It's not fantastically entertaining, but it's often interesting.

Man, they keep locking off the LP forum for people that don't have accounts, and I can't remember what e-mail and password I used for mine. >.> This guy breaks the game so well you'd think it was meant to be done that way, and we're all mutants for going through it 'the normal way'.

I just finished watching Jamesman's Yakuza 1 LP and I enjoyed so thoroughly I wanted to bring it to the attention of others. It drew me in like a good anime does honestly, where I'd keep trying to go to sleep but FUCK I GOTTA SEE WHAT COMES NEXT. He does a great job of talking the viewer through the game without relying on stupid gimmicky bullshit to keep his commentary flowing, knows when to shut up, and splits off the optional stuff into separate videos so you can keep focused on the story if thats your thing.

Fortunately the guy uses the same name on youtube so I was able to find and finish enjoying the LP that way.

I'm not sure about "great", but I've been told to recommend my own off-site LP of Red Steel 2, featuring Lobst and DemoWeasel.

Enjoy! I hope.

I watched the first couple of these; they're pretty good! Then I got in my car and put on the newest Retronauts Live, and DemoWeasel was the first caller. Now I'm concerned he's following me.

Holly crap, I just started watching our new friend Golbeeze's solo Rosa FFIV LP and it's blowing my mind. Way more interesting than the solo Cecil run I tried a while back.

Challenge runs of FFs 4-6 and I Wanna Be The Guy, plus... a normal run of Mystic Quest. I like the cut of this guy's jib.

I've been enjoying this Assasin's Creed LP over at the SA archive. I like the Assassin's Creed 2 series but never bothered to play the original since I don't think I could deal with the loss of all the quality of life improvements they put into the sequel so it's fun seeing the backstory that only gets summarized later.

Plus, it's chock full of HISTORY where the LP'er explains what was actually going on during the 3rd crusade.

Do you like Mario 64? Have you ever wondered if it could be played using only one's feet?

Turns out it can.

Nakar's LPs of Ultima 4-7 are pretty good. It starts out informative, but then it grows into probably my favorite screenshot LP. Also if you have played Ultima before you can probably relate to the playstyle the LP takes (completely breaking the game).

Martian Dreams
Ultima 7 Part 1
Ultima 7 Part 2

Can anyone recommend an entertaining LP of Gears of War to me? I have reasons for watching the game without playing it, and ideally I'd like something kind of funny to make the whole thing go down smoothly.

You'd think that a bunch of spreadsheets would make for a pretty boring LP.

You'd be wrong.

On the one hand...

TheDarkID's Nier LP at Something Awful is now old enough to require Archives access A shame, since the entire point of the LP was to read the audience reactions (making the LP Archive useless,) and I had only just gotten up to the beginning of Path B... which, in itself, was the point of reading audience reactions!

On the other...

His Drakengard 2 LP is still available to the public, and he just started a Xenogears LP.

Fair trade?

If you love horrible translation issues, SA has Pokémon Vietnamese Crystal despite otherwise blanket-banning new Pokémon LPs.

What do you get when the protagonist picks up a potion after being put through three bootleg translations (J->Chinese->V->English)? "Terry! Drug bag fuck!"

The other highlight of the (ongoing) thread is the recipes and pictures of results for some of the language that the game churns out, including "VOLCANO BAKEMEAT" and "ANGRY BREAD".

It's all very surreal.

I can do the first two restrictions, but damn. It's pretty neat to see him do a lot of the same things that I figured out on my own when I do no stuff runs, though. Then he goes on to do X5 and X6 the same way.

He records commentary after he records the video, but it's completely understandable when you consider the amount of concentration that this kind of thing would take.

*Except when absolutely necessary.

EDIT: And then the guy goes through X1-X3 with the same limitations, then adds "No dashing" to the list. fffffffffffffffffffff
Just want to second this guy's LPs. He's also recently done playthroughs (not LPs, no audio commentary, it's all in the description below) of the romhack Rockman 2000 and another cool challenge run of Mega Man 7.

EDIT Also, this Animal Crossing LP is genius.

For all of us Americans who can't buy it, there's a playthrough (no commentary, for good or bad) of Xenoblade Chronicles going on here. I want to play this game now.

seorin's excellent Fate/Stay Night LP (Let's Read?) was finally archived (admittedly, on his own site rather than the lparchive); I was reading along when he ran it, and I highly recommend it.

Default There's nothing that cannot be solved by a good shagging...apparently

I saw Alpha's post and figured since Fate/Zero is airing, why not I read the LP since I haven't seen the anime in a while? I heard it's got some H-scenes but they can't be too bad.

Boy was I wrong.

And if you want commentary, the Hellfirecomms gruop has done a commentary on the game as well. It's on their site.
