Impressive Metroid LP is impressive, but.

Also, another Other M won't happen again because A) Team Ninja won't work with Sakamoto again (though getting advice and publishing from Nintendo is a-ok with them AKA Razor's Edge), B) Sakamoto is probably on a much-tighter leash now and back to making the "crazy" shit (Kiwi Trick, the Wario Ware like games, all lower budget and smaller teams) and C) it was a bad idea to copy the "Metal Gear Solid" big development team aspect and make it a movie idea. OTHER M RANT OVER, HURP A DURP DURP But that's just me. TheStrawHatNO!'s LP of Bomberman Hero is hilarity from start to finish. Any joke focusing on Pibot is a laugh riot (and listening to ThronBrain suffer the terrible level design is oddly hilarious as well). |

My friend and I have begun a third video Let's Play, this time of the newest Alone in the Dark game. Personally I think this one is more entertaining than the first two. The game is just so silly.

I think their initial viddler upload of Twilight Princess was actually the first LP I ever watched. It totally spoiled me. |

I thought I'd link my Pokemon Emerald 386 Let's Play I've been doing on another forum. I linked it a while back, but there was a long hiatus until about a month ago, and since then it's been updating pretty quick.

Also, did I catch mention that you could be playing the, in my experience, bug free 360 version, and are instead playing the PS3 one where... yeah, there's kinda something off with these physics. On the plus side, I was skipping around some, but so far nobody's tried to use the gun as a weapon, as opposed to its true purpose of making thrown bottles explode. I could watch someone fail that crazy driving setpiece al night though... and oh hey, there's the sun coming up. Guess I did. |

Dude the controls are terrible. Edward is incredibly insensitive to changes in directional input.

The Yogscast. I believe I've mentioned them here and there on TT previously. I'm too lazy to sift through this entire thread so if this is a repost, oh well, it's worth it. While the main focus is Minecraft, there's tons of games and LPs (and Let's Play-ers) to choose from. I'm quite a big fan, it's been interesting to watch them transform into such an Internet Famous 'big deal' over the past few years.

I think this fits here even if it isn't a proper LP: a torch only run of Super Ghouls and Ghosts done during the AGDQ 2013 marathon. I watched this twice now, and super enjoyed it both times. Good commentary and many entertaining turns of events.

I've been watching LP races all day while some of my own videos are rendering.
An example. I love how there's always one dude who is awesome at the game, two dudes who totally suck, and one guy who ragequits after an hour. By the end of the video there's just one guy left in the race and everyone else is playing different games just to fill time. Amusing! |

Oh god I just watched like the first two minutes and it was immediately hilarious. I like how half the guys pressed the wrong button to get into the stage and then died on the first stage!
Though i can't stand how it just keeps playing the same 30 second loop of the map screen. Usually when I've seen something like this it'll play the audio from one of the players or have no music or be a better selection or SOMETHING |

Why would you play a game for the first time as a race in front of the entire Internet? Guy finishes the game and says, "I thought you were joking about the princess is in another castle!"
And he's one of the ones who actually did finish. (edit) for that matter, who in the world hasn't played SMB3? |

I PM'd False to ask if I could open a racing thread, but he hasn't answered yet. Anyway I think it'd be a fun way to spend a Saturday, if we could get 4-6 dudes on board. (The subsequent Sunday-Tuesday spent processing video would be a lot less fun.)

This may be old news but I just discovered a delightful collection of Final Fantasy challenge runs. The guy calls them "stories" (probably because he started doing them before Let's Playing was a thing) but they're basically LPs. Lots of really interesting stuff in here: no weapon and no armor runs of FFI, solo Cecil FFIV, and solo runs of just about every job in FFV.
I love what these challenges do to a game. It's like what HideofBeast says in his Mega Man X6 run, it's about pushing a game as far as it will go; taking it to the very edge of possibility. These challenges show how robust these games are, and speak to the ingenuity of players at overcoming seemingly impossible brickwalls. There's almost like a communion between the player and the designers. It's impossible to think that the games were created with crazy variants in mind and that obtuse solutions were purposely included. But as the player pushes at the game, finds brilliant strategies for new problems, and as the game provides space for off the wall and unconventional strategies, the design is elevated. Or it's horrible and there's no way around a particular sticking point besides leveling. But those instances are surprisingly rare. Check the runs out. They're great fun. |

On a similar vein to Loki's stuff, GarlandtheGreat and ErichtheTormentor do lots of challenge videos for Final Fantasy games (mainly VII and VIII).

Not really the right thread chief; talking about podcasts is more suited to this forum of Talking Time. This thread is more for gushing about LPs that other people have done that you've really enjoyed.
Like perhaps, the Deceased Crab LP of remake of La Mulana? Catball lives! |

Ah! Thanks for pointing me to the right place! I'm apparently still bumping into walls while trying to learn my way about. XD

Ever 17 LP has been added to LP Archive.
If you liked 999 or Virtue's Last Reward, this one was also written by their writer, Kotaro Uchikoshi and is even more mindfucky. I'd argue that 999 (I haven't read VLR yet) is a better game overall due to not having the amount of moe crud E17 has, but the conclusion is infinitely more satisfying in Ever 17. |

The conclusion in 999 was pretty... uh, inconclusive. So that's not saying a whole lot. I loved the game, though.

Watching a lot of LPs myself(as that's a great thing to do when I'm chained to a chair and have to draw dumb birds all day long).
Races are fun. Just have to give a heads-up to one of my favorite races: Battletoads 4 Player Race by Protonjon, NintendoCaprisun, SuperJeenius and PCULL44444 They use a cheat for unlimited lives(if everyone were to restart the game every 3rd continue, it would have taken a lot more than 3 hours), warps are allowed, but even then, the race turns out to be pretty even and exciting, while fun to watch. They count deaths and add random achievements throughout. |

This is how you DON'T play MGS2.
Basically it's a camcorder LP of MGS2, played by someone who apparently thinks all games should be modern first-person shooters. He took the videos down after some much-deserved mockery, but a helpful troll preserved the highlights (as well as the mockery) for our amusement. I think my favorite part is where he screams, "OH MY GOD, how did he fucking see me!? I was LYING DOWN and BEHIND A TABLE!" |
